Yeah, I don't see why not.

Nope, but I was waiting for someone who knew a little more about PA's than me.

The amp, of course, makes an enormous difference.

The mandolin is something I've never tried-I'd like to, though.

I would've been shocked if you had, honestly. Local group, more than anything.

Okay, before I cause a fight, my first comment was a little out of line. However, I have no patience for praise music, especially christian rock.

Some can discern between an MIA Strat and a Mexican Strat. I'd go with a used MIA, personally.

I've never played an Agile and thought it was anything special, FWIW. I like my Epi's better.

Motorcycles, bicycles, cars, snowmobiles-I like motors. Also photography and writing, although writing leads back to music.

Do other instruments count? I also play bass, alto saxophone, piano, drums, and I'm reasonably competent on the violin.

Honestly, try Classical Gas. Not nearly as difficult as you think-that's my current piece to learn.

I play mainly metal when I jam with friends-heavy, loud, REAL metal. Metallica, Megadeth, even some new metal.

For myself, some blues, classic rock, lots of jazz, blues-inflected punk, pretty much anything with some real power behind it.

I love the Novaks. Absolutely love them. If you know who they are, I've underestimated their reach;).

More thinly disguised capatalist churchie crap.

I wouldn't touch a Zune, personally. iPod Nano 8g here, only one for me.

The MIM did not feel right to me and the sound was a bit muddy...just my ears though as lots like them.

Riding skill saves lives, not 110-db pipes on an underpowered, overpriced Harley.

I do agree that they alert drivers, but I am dubious about their benefit even there.

Nice guitars but metal rigs they are not.

Dave Murray of Iron Maiden uses a Strat, his tone is more than passable.

An HSS Strat will give you all the Metal tone you want and still be versatile enough for Blues, Country, Jazz, or any other Genre you might want to play.

There's several things wrong with that. It won't come close to approximating the tone I want for metal, it's too thin and not dark enough. For jazz, I still find it too thin. Country, not enough twang, and it doesn't overdrive the way I want for blues.

I have an SG that has EMG 81-85 pickups. If you can make your Strat give me THAT sound, I'll consider one a real metal guitar.

I have the same response every time someone tries to force a Strat down my throat as a replacement for my EMG-equipped SG and my Casino. I don't particularly like single coils, I don't like maple bodies and I can't tolerate a $1500 guitar with the lackluster finish I've always found on MIA Strats.

Where in Newfoundland? I'm in Gander.

I've posted this elsewhere before.

The girls I know who play tend to be lyrically better songwriters where the guys tend to be more technical and more showmen.

Anyone here own a Harley? There was a bike rally here this weekend and most of the Harleys were ridicuously loud. There was all kinds of crap stuck on them, and when I spoke to one memorable Softail owner and asked him why the loud pipes, he said "For my safety. Loud pipes save lives!"

Then he got back on his bike, in his shorts and t-shirt with his "protective bandanna" on his head, started it up, and almost dropped it twice pulling out of the parking lot. I was thinking, "Yeah. And you can rely on your pipes to the point that you don't think you need any riding skill or protective gear."

I can understand the "loud pipes save lives" thing to an extent, but it's stupid coming from someone who doesn't wear a helmet or any other gear.

Not all Harley guys are like this and I'm a huge Sportster fan, but there seems to be a higher concentration of these morons among the Harley crowd. Anyone else have any experience with this?

Try something with EMG humbuckers and a mahogany body and the Strat's passable metal tone will pale in comparison.

Yeah, I do. All the time. It's worse on the Casino.

DocPhil, here's how my name deciphers:

SG-My guitar
in-like "in" a car
CYQX-The code for the airport in my hometown.
