You can try using a thumbpick or some other form of finger mounted pick. They usually stay put when you have it on right. Good luck with the church performance. Your grandkids will like it either way.

Note that i said Gamers. So many of the games that are out there are full of stuff that are negative for everyone but may be fun. I'm just saying if you have to play games this one looks positive.
Zurf i totally agree with you on the outdoors stuff. The youth of the word has been tamed by the inside and by technology. Fresh air and GOD's true creation(nature) is always the best way to go to rest in his glory.

I think it's about time the gamers have a choice to have some kind of fun in Gods glory. I just wish it was put out in another form of gaming other than PC online. I belive it would also be a great help in learning something new for some people other than faking all of the other music that is portraid in the other guitar games.

My youngest son who is only 6 want to learn guitar but he doesn't have the attention span to practice. I've tried to get him to practice with me but i play for 2 or 3 hours at a time. He really needs a smaller guitar than a childs size because it is still too big for his small hands. Maybe a mandolin would work out better. I want to learn it myself. I've been told it's kinda like playing a ukulele. Do you know?

Going Elvis is a term i use when i get all shook up. I was really into Elvis tunes back then. I guess i was trying to impersonate him. You know i still like playing some of the Elvis songs but now with no fear of getting my gear busted. I also have kids but ican't intrest them in learning any real instuments. They only want to play the game instruments that are pre recorded.

I was just given an older electric guitar by my wifes granddad but i don't who made it. It has a nice sound with the SSH pickups and it weighs a ton and it looks like an older fatstrat but it isn't marked Fender. Granddad said he got it back in 1970 at Sears. I don't think it is a Silvertone because the quality of the gutiar is too good. If anyone that might have an idea of what it is i would appreciate any input. Namebrand does't matter I'm just curious.

I'm using an electric hollowbody with humbuckers with it instead of an acoustic electric so it should still do okay right? I had originally bought the vox 15 watt multi effects series amp but have sold it since i was looking for more of an acoustic sound. It sound prety good now but i want to add some different effects to the mix.

My first guitar was the Roy Clark editon brand unknown back in 80. By the time i could play a G, C, & D chord i went Elvis on it one morning and my dad busted it over my bed post. I was 8 then and went 20yrs before i got my Takamine which i still have. I play it when i feel the urge to write. I have an ibanez hollowbody that i play most often now but i still prefer a good acoustic anyday.

I have found it helpful to just use a chord chart and try progressions to and from each chord on the chart. Some work well and then some chords don't blend too well. Once you get used to doing the chords and you remember how then is the time to use them in songs.

Well where i'm from we call a dog a dog. So i named my acoustic Takamine (Jasmine) and my electric Ibanez(Nezzy). They never answer when i call them though. They always make me do all the work. Haha!

With hollow bodies alot of the time you will get decent sound. It's really about what sound or type of music you like. I bought a hollow body for it's acoustic ability and was disappointed when i got it home and plugged it in. I eventually re toned the pickups from the warm jazz tone to the bright acoustic tone i was wanting and now i love my hollow body. Now it's like a really nice acoustic electric without the feedback problems.

It's always a good idea to learn on an acoustic because you learn what true tone is and the fingering on an acoustic helps train your hands for the big stuff down the road.
Takamine, Fender, and Ibanes make really good begginer guitars.

try sweet home alabama or ccr bad moon rising or even GnR patience. these all are fairly easy with just the basic chords. i learned them at one sitting. i'm self taught only 5 years going but learning every day. keep working and don't give up. you can find all of these songs on this sites library.
