Hi!

I remember a song by Shawn Phillips back in the nineteen-seventies.

It began with the words; 'He came in the way that the good things come, with the light shining in his eyes.'

Anyone help me out?

Hello to all who responded to my previous posts!

You'll recall that I was awaiting spinal surgery.

Well, things got a lot more complicated when I saw my surgeon yesterday......

The simple surgical procedure I was told would free me from pain and restore me to mobility is not going to be possible, according to my MRI results.

What is now proposed is a very much more complex surgery, that carries considerable risks and has no guarantee of success.

I've decided NOT to undergo it.

I'll stick with the pain & limited mobility I have now.

Somehow, I'll find a way to take up my guitar again.

Thanks to all who were supportive before.

Hi, Takamine!

Thanks for your messages.

I haven't had my surgery yet, unfortunately and have no idea when I WILL be having it.

I had an MRI last Friday and am now waiting to see my consultant surgeon agai. That's not likely to happen beofre the end of this month/beginning of November. Thereafter, I'll be on her list, waiting to reach the top.
I don't anticipate having my operation before next year, then.

I can't play my guitar at present, but I DOO enjoy listening to music.

Thanks for your good wishes.

Meggity.

Hi!

Been such a long time since I logged into this site!

Thing is, that I've been suffering absolute agony from my spinal condition.
It's made it impossible for me practise guitar, because I can't sit, stand, walk, or lie in bed for more than five-ten minutes without being in pain.

I saw a surgeon in August, who told me that I need surgery.

Today, I had an MRI scan.

I must now wait up to two months before I get called back to see my surgeon again.

Thereafter, I have to wait to get to the top of her list......

Meanwhile, I can't play my guitar.

It's very depressing to be so inactive, unable to do even the simple things of everyday life, but I have no choice.

Please, pals, remember me and don't give up on me............

My ability to change chords is coming back quite easily, as is my strumming technique.
What I'm having real difficulty with is picking.
My husband - also self-taught - can do it easily, but I find it really hard to concentrate on changing chords and plucking strings at the same time.
Doesn't help that I wear bi-focal glasses, which make it difficult to shift my focus quickly from my crib-sheet to my fret!

Cheers, alvee!

This is my second foray into guitar-playing. I taught myself to play back in the 'nineties and got quite good.
I stopped playing when, for various reasons, I wasn't able to get to the folk club. My fingertips hardened up over a few weeks of practising for at least an hour a day. I'd forgotten, though, how painful it is until that happens!

Hello!
As a beginner at the art of guitar-playing, I'm having real difficulty with the fingering for chords such as F.
I just can't get the hang of it! Thus I tend to avoid any song that has that chord anywhere in it.
I'd be grateful for any tips on how to make the bridge would be gratefully received.
Alternatively, can anyone suggest an alternative chord that's easier to finger?

Cheeers!

Thanks  so much Roger.
I'll check out the sources you've given me.
Now all I need to do is to get the tips of my left hand fingers hardened up! I'd forgotten how hard holding down strings is on them!

Cheers!

Hi!
I've recently come back to the guitar after years of not playing. Unfortuneately, my song book has gone missing, so I'm trying to put it together again.
Does anyone have the guitar chords and lyrics forthe following?

1) The Ash Grove

2)The Boar's Head Carol

3)Coventry Carol

4)My Bonnie Lies Over Ther Ocean.
