Topic: Your Dream Guitar?

Most of us are quite content with the guitar(s) we have, but there's always that dream machine that we would own if we could. And relative to Russell Harding's comments in another post about materialism, this is only about having an amazing instrument that plays and sounds fantastic. I got to play a PRS 408 Custom at a  music store yesterday, and it was freakin' awesome! Here are my 2 dream machines:

If money was no object what would be your dream electric guitar?

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

Nice.  A good friend of mine has a 1970 Guild acoustic, I offered three of my acoustics in trade,  no deal, It is a dream guitar, She will not part with it.   Oh well I get to play it every now and then,,,

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

My dream guitar that is cheap enough for me to afford is a Martin 000-15. I haven't bought it because I have a perfectly good Epiphone Masterbilt AJ-500 ME NS. Also, my abilities don't warrant a $1200 guitar.

My dream guitar that is too expensive for me to buy, would be a Gibson J-200 Custom. My other expensive dream guitar would be to go on the Martin website and use their Custom Shop tool to build a guitar with exactly the features that I want.

(I didn't notice this was on the "Electric" thread--my bad.)

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

I must be honest the best is the one I built I call it Fang, hot Texas coils large pots and a perfectly balanced trem plus it stays in tune and I love the action and sounds it produces

I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.

Nice one Jerome!  About the price of a new car I suppose.  Sound holes kinda like a Taylor, but not.....  Custom Maker starts with "P"?

Yeah, it's a Peterson J2, and I have owned cars that cost less.  smile

I love archtops.  Santa Cruz makes an awesome one, too.

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

My buddy Gregg has a small music shop here in town, visited awhile back and he had this ancient Austrian made archtop hanging on the wall......
built in 1932!  cosmetically rough but still playable with a crack in the top and alligator checking in the finish, which was worn through in some places.
Amazingly loud and great sustain and tone.  The action was a bit high and so was the price, but restorable.

Resisted the temptation though..... have more projects than I know where to start with.

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

Dream guitar hmmmm,-- every one I don't have?

Live in the "now" - a contentment of the moment - the past is gone - the future doesn't exist - all we ever really have is now and it's always "now".

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

Jerome ...

That Peterson is stunning! I'm a real fan of natural woods, and that beauty has all of the right appointments to go with. The rosewood collars around the pickups are a classy touch, as well as the whole bridge assembly. Very nice!

Re: Your Dream Guitar?

I guess I'll just have to keep my DY52 12 string K Yairi as I find myself playing it more than any of my other guitars. But, Pete just bought a new Martin. If he would let me come over to his house and play he just might be my next best friend.
