Topic: Its Most Probably Just Me

Am I the only one that thinks Classical music can be fun ? ???? There are many who made Classical music assessable such as Arthur Fiedler.  People like Julien Cohen in recent times are also making classical music more assessable.  I will attach a vid that might show what I'm trying to say.

Re: Its Most Probably Just Me

Absolutely brilliant.  The texts say the pianist vas a virtuoso but what about that 10 year old violinist, I'm gobsmacked and that singer ... the whole thing brought a tear to my eye.
Ps yeah Brian's right it is good to see you posting again Pedr.

Re: Its Most Probably Just Me

Cheers Piri and Brian thank you for your feedback. It is an honour to be part of this community even though the spammers have raised their head on here. Thank you to all of those who regularly post kudos to you all. Isn't it great that music has no limitations for everyday people like most of us on this planet that we can look at that video of a kid who is a musical genius having fun displaying his joy of playing in a situation that many wouldn't expect  to hear or see such a talent that uplifts everyone involved. ????   So hopefully things like that keeps everyone inspired that pass through here to have a go.

Re: Its Most Probably Just Me

That was an amazing video.  The young man an the girl singer were incredibly talented, and the man playing the piano was fantastic as well.
Classical music is an enigma -  either it is fantastic or blah -   seems there is no middle ground in my opinion.

It is wonderous that so many modern songs that are big hits in the music industry take their roots from classical songs. such as
This Night - Billy Joel (2nd Movement Sonata Pathetique - Ludwig van Beethoven)
Blackbird - The Beatles (Bourrée in e minor - JS Bach)
Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin (Bourrée in e minor - JSNBach)
Bourrée - Jethro Toll (Bourrée in e minor - JSNBach)
Friends - Led Zeppelin (Mars - Gustav Holst)
Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath (Mars - Gustav Holst)
The Last Battle - John Williams (Mars - Gustav Holst)
Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes (Symphony No.5 in Bflat major - Anton Bruckner)
Light My Fire - The Doors (Invention no. 8 - JS Bach)
Penny Lane - The Beatles (Brandenburg Concerto No.2 - JS Bach)
Tubular Bells - Mike Oldfield (Toccata and Fugue in D minor - JS Bach)
Plug in Baby - Muse (Toccata and Fugue in D minor - JS Bach)
Jane Seymour - Rick Wakeman (Toccata and Fugue in D minor - JS Bach)
Brainless - Eminem (Toccata and Fugue in D minor - JS Bach)
The Real Thing - 2 Unlimited (Toccata and Fugue in D minor - JS Bach)
Russians - Sting (Romance Theme - Sergei Prokofiev)
Party Like a Russian - Robbie Williams (Dance of the Knights - Sergei Prokofiev)
Somewhere - Leonard Bernstein (Piano Concerto No. 5 mvmt. 2 - Beethoven & Swan Theme - Pyotr Illych Tchaikovsky)
Annie's Song - John Denver (5th Symphony in E minor, 2nd mvmt - Pytor Illych Tchaikovsky)
Because - The Beatles (Moonlight Sonata mvmt. 2 - Ludwig van Beethoven)
Better Than Yourself - Lukas Graham (Moonlight Sonata mvmt. 2 - Ludwig van Beethoven)
Neon Gravestones - 21 Pilots (Moonlight Sonata mvmt. 2 - Ludwig van Beethoven)
Could it be Magic - Barry Manilow (Prelude in C minor - Frederic Chopin)
The Globalist - Muse (Nimrod Theme - Edward Elgar)
Tous Les Maux D'Amour - Norma Ray (Pavane in Fsharp minor - Gabriel Fauré)
Natural - S Club 7 (Pavane in Fsharp minor - Gabriel Fauré)
Little Me - Little Mix (Pavane in Fsharp minor - Gabriel Fauré)
A Groovy Kind of Love - Phil Collins (Sonatina No.5 - Musio Clementi)
I Need You to Turn to - Elton John (
The Greatest Discovery - Elton John (
Breathe Me - Cia (Metamorphosis no.1 - Philip Glass)

The price of anything, is the amount of life you exchange for it.   - H.D. Thoreau
Your vision is not limited by what your eye can see, but what your mind can imagine.
Make your life count, and the world will be a better place because you tried.

Re: Its Most Probably Just Me

I recently saw another video on youtube of the same people playing "Bohemian Rhapsody", same guy on the piano in a city square somewhere(?) with a drummer, choir and a very young guitarist playing the Brian May solo. These guys are brilliant.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: Its Most Probably Just Me

40yrs ago i was given a guitar, all keen i took some lessons(i know you`re thinking thats hard to believe)
the music teacher was an older woman down the road who mainly taught piano.
she asked what i wanted to achieve,i said to play a recognizable song (still cant)
anyway she took me down the classical music path.
it`s not quite what i had expected,i was thinking more` the shadows` that kinda thing.
this lead me to listening to the band `sky` a mixture of classical and rock musicians playing classical music in a rock setting.
still listening to them today.

Re: Its Most Probably Just Me

I will attach a video of a perfect blend of classical and rock. Check out the lead guitarist on here he is only eleven years old and is brilliant his name is Olly Pearson. He flew over from his home in Wrexham Wales to Paris to perform in this video. Julien Cohen did a brilliant job of arranging all the musicians and the sound and film crew to put this this video together. Julien is the guy on the piano.

Yes Pedr, that's the video I was referring to though I didn't know the boy was from North Wales. Still brings tears to my eyes...I must be getting old.
