Thanks, Richard.   Have you used the Zoom LiveTrak L-8 ?

Hi, I'm looking for any suggestions on a small mixer with say 4 channels or more.  Ideally, I'd like to be able to record to a standard USB thumb drive.    Affordable is good, but 24 bit is even better.

Would like to use for recording gigs and practices for 3 person acoustic project.  Thanks.

Hi, has anyone seen tabs or ever figured out Robbie Robertson's intro on this song in the key of E?   Love the version on The Last Waltz.  Thanks.

Hey, I have an old Epiphone Valve amp and am looking for a cabinet to go with it.   I keep seeing the partnered amp/cab for sale, but not many of just the cabinet.  Any recommendations?   Thanks.

Thanks for the responses.   So the wattage on the wedge floor monitors really doesn't necessarily depend on the PA's wattage?

Hey, what's up.   I'm a singer and rhythm guitarist who is looking for some general guidance on live sound.   I gig with an acoustic trio and we use a Carvin Stagemate PA.    I have a Behringer mic stand monitor, but am thinking about getting floor wedges for better foldback sound.

Also, I play some electric guitar/vocals with an electric group.   Do any of you run both your vocals and guitar through wedge monitors?

My main concern is not blowing anything up and getting what I need out of a setup.

Thanks!

I've been playing around w/ some guitar lead on this one and have been using C#minor pentatonic.  Curious if anyone else approaches it the same or differently?

Any recommendations for use with a Windows desktop?  Looking primarily to tune down a half step.   I have Audacity, but didn't seem to clear to me.   Looked at Pitch Switch,  Song Surgeon, and Transcribe briefly.

I tried to bring Roadhouse Blues up from key of E to G and Jim Morrison sounded like Alvin the Chipmunk.
Simple and effective is what I'm after.  Thanks!

Hey! I posted this before....had an idea about setting up a chair to use for guitar practice.    Would running guitar through a DI box get the job done?   Thanks.

I haven't done it yet...would a DI box work?   I'm not too technically inclined.

I posted awhile back about plugging a guitar into a gaming chair like X Rocker or whatever.   I think it would be pretty comfy.    So could you plug into a DI box and then connect the box to the chair?   Not sure if that would work?   Thanks.

So I heard an acoustic version of Peter Frampton's Baby, I Love Your Way on public radio and immediately thought of Lowell George/Little Feat's Willin'.   I think the intro chords are very similar and seem to work in Open G tuning.

Thanks.   Didn't want to miss anything.   The fingering in Cold Gin by KISS has a lot of sus chords, but it feels a bit awkward so just looking for insights.   Open G tuning seems to work pretty well for some of those songs.

Well, I'm familiar with the first position chords like the Dsus to D ( like Crazy Little Thing Called Love intro, etc.).    I haven't really encountered them as much in barre chords and am just looking for any examples worth exploring.

Yes.

Looking for songs which prominently feature suspended barre chords.   Also wondering if anyone ever uses  Open G for some of these.   From memory, I believe these classic rock songs feature them:

Cold Gin - KISS
Hot Blooded - Foreigner
Can't Get Enough - Bad Company
Saturday Night's...Fighting - Elton John

(Rolling Stones feature many of these, too.)

Thanks.

Always loved this song, but not exactly uber-acoustic friendly.   I've got pretty decent range, but can't hit the highs in this one.

Anyway, I've been dabbling with the low E string dropped down to C and playing it in key of C.    Nice little walk up on the A string (A,B,C) with low C string for the ?bass? part.  Enjoy!

So Beast of Burden is classic rock radio staple.   Some may love jamming the pentatonic scales along with it.   Others may be sick of the original.

In any event, I stumbled across what IMHO is a great cover by Buckwheat Zydeco on Youtube and iTunes.   His version is a step down (D, A, Bm, G).   Makes it even easier with first position campfire chords.   I've also played it with a little cross harp in G.

Thought I'd share.  "... I'll never be your Buckwheat of Burden."

OK, so I know there are some killer lead guitar licks in this tune and it's been tabbed a lot in standard tuning.

I was sort of forced to try to sing/scream this in a band once and it was a stretch -- I started fooling around with it in Open D, slowed it down, and it came out pretty cool.

You can get a good groove/mute going with your strumming hand and you're off! I usually play it with cross harp/neck rack in G.

Wasn't sure where to post this, but hope somebody can use it.

Just wondering if anyone has ever converted a gaming style chair into use for a "guitar practice chair"? Would it be possible to run a guitar straight into one with an adapter of some sort?   Could you run Youtube through it?

I'm not a gamer, but keep seeing them in stores and think it's an interesting idea. Thanks!

Let me ask this....why doesn't the A minor pentatonic work with that song?  I'm trying to wrap my head around which scales work or don't work.  Thanks.

I've got a question about using the proper pentatonic scale with the song "Gloria" by Them/Van Morrison.  Since the song uses the chords of A, D, & E  I thought the  A minor pentatonic scale would work for solos, but my friend pointed out that it's actually in the key of E (and not A).   Is there an easy way to explain this? Thanks.

A plus D plus E does not equal key of A?

Thanks a lot, Doug!  I've seen a few things written about watts vs. amps, but this helps a lot.  Thanks again.
