Happy birthday Roger, with wishes for many more.

I never learned Margaritaville, and not by accident. Once you know it, you've got to play it anywhere there's beer, and there's beer in a whole lot of places. I substitute Blake Shelton's "Some Beach" for Margaritaville. It's not as over-exposed, it's based on a pun, and it is easy to strum.
MacArthur Park, but only while I'm listening to Rachmaninoff put to bad pop lyrics.
My son and grandson moved back to the town where we used to live. My wife and I own a house boat where we can stay and several other boats in our old town. We put our house up for sale and are staying on the house boat until it sells. We have beauty and boating but no internet or T.V. for now. I love the peace and tranquility but I miss my Chordie buddies.

Roger and I were discussing what had become of you. I'm glad to hear it's just an access issue and that we haven't offended you in some way, or that you're physically unable to type or whatever. You've been missed. Come back and join us when you can. I'm sure there must be a coffee shop or bar with WiFi somewhere near the marina.

It's wood. Just because Sapele isn't what others want to say that it is doesn't mean that it's not a decent wood for making a guitar. You can't impute the dishonest or ignorant behavior of Craigs list sellers to the wood.

Come June, Soiled Eduardo, I'll let you sip on whatever bourbon I bring along. I've been enjoying sampling different premium bourbons. Jefferson's Very Small Batch is my favorite, but my local store doesn't carry it. Roger usually shows up with a pretty full bar, too. Yeungling isn't my favorite beer, but it's my most frequently consumed beer. It tastes good and sells for a fair price. My favorite is Samuel Smith's oatmeal stout, and that's just not affordable for anything but a special hankering (and I'd better not hanker all that often).
Sorry to hear of your allergies naoslager. I've got a similar thing, in that any Bud product triggers a migraine for me. I often get offered a beer, and though its rude to do so I will confirm that it's not a Bud or Bud Light. I've got nothing against anyone drinking whatever beer they prefer, but there's no faster way to crippling pain for me than to drink 1/2 of a Bud Light.

It'd be a heck of a campfire guitar for someone. It might have dried out too much to get the crack. I doubt that if it doesn't go through and if it's only a hairline crack that it would make much difference. Shoot, Detman101's acoustic had a hole from someone's foot going through the top and it still plays. Trigger (Willy Nelson's guitar) has a huge hole in it. What's a little crack?
I'm glad you've recovered gtx.

LOL M.B. You can rest assured that the banjo I messed around with had five strings instead of two cheeks.

My washing machine repair a few weeks ago resurfaced today when the laundry room and basement were flooded! Apparently while I was fiddling with the machine I inadvertently caused a vacuum line to begin working it's way loose. So today, after three weeks and many loads of laundry, it came off the water level switch basically telling it the drum was not full yet, not full yet. Holy crap! What a mess.
Our AC vents are in the floor so the one in the laundry room provided a perfect escape for God knows how much water. My AC return air line filled with water and then began leaking in the basement. Ceiling tiles destroyed, furniture and carpet wet, and my BRAND NEW AC unit may be damaged.
Of course I had no way of knowing what my day would offer this morning while my daughter and I enjoyed an 8 mile run. I ran right into a mess which has absorbed the day and all my energy. The water-remover people are still here. Help me Ronda!
Man I could use a still drink but I'm afraid I'd fall asleep on the couch. I need these guys to leave first.
So Zurf, I raise a virtual glass of Woodford Reserve Bourbon to you.
djp.s. I almost forgot an additional near disaster. One of my guitars got wet. Mainly the headstock and the first 5-6 frets. I dried it off. No harm done. Whew!
No virtual bourbon here Zurf, I'm raising a real glass of Woodford Reserve. In fact I'm raising my second glass.

Hey. Aren't you retired now? You've got to buy the cheap stuff. Send that Woodford down here.
Neat. I messed around with my sister's banjo once and really enjoyed it.
1. Pinch. Experiment with multiple treble strings simultaneously for different sounds.
2. Keep the bass going NO MATTER WHAT.

You got something against Gibson?
j/k
They're one of the dots.
America, Jimmy Buffett, and James Taylor all have good concert videos out that I enjoy.

Just friends sitting around. Haven't been to a venue in a long time.
There's no 'sides.' I like Martins and Taylors both, as well as Guild and Breedlove and Seagull and The Loar and ....
Nothing else sounds like a Martin, and nothing else plays like a Taylor. Happy NGD.

We dealt with a flood a couple years ago DJ. I don't envy the work ahead of you at all.

I worked much of the day in my attic today, cleaning it out for the exterminators to come tomorrow and make a REALLY big mess. Spider webs, dust, grit. I just can't get feeling clean even though I've taken a hot shower. I came down hoping someone would be Skyping, but no such luck this Sunday evening.
I hope my life settles down enough to catch up with some folks soon. We only did it for a few weeks before I was overtaken by events, and I already miss them tremendously. Maybe I need to send some Jack and Coke up to MKM to give her an excuse...

If I can get teh money together, 2 weeks iin Asheville NC to see parents and have 20th anniversery.
We went to Asheville for a long weekend a couple years ago and have been aching to get back. What a great area!
We're doing a camping trip to Missouri that should be a lot of fun.
If I don't play, I get very cranky.

It's a banjo style of picking.
Here's a Youtube video. It's the first one that came up searching "Introduction to clawhammer banjo". I don't know the instructor or how accurate the information is.

Ow
Meant as encouragement not as a mean-ness. I'm confident that there's no picking pattern you won't be able to learn given time.

Can't help. I'm twitless. Without twit. Twit-free.
- Zurf
So get better.
