Okay guys and gals I've been wanting to share this for a while know (about 2 yrs.) but the video contained some stuff best left unseen so I never posted it before....
Sorry for the audio quality, I just played the video and recorded the audio back via the webcam so it destroyed the guitar but the vocals are still pretty close to original smile

So a little background before you either wince from the pain or die of laughter smile Three friends and I sitting around for several hours one night indulging smile About 3 am, when everyone is 3 sheets in another friend stops by.... He's heard this song at the bar and we have to play it so he can sing it for us... (He really thinks he's got it;)) I look up the chords real quick and give it a few strums while he and the others join in for the vocals smile Please excuse the bad playing as well smile I was dying of laughter and finally had to just stop but no worries they don't even notice for a moment and keep up their work!  I will warn that while I cut the video and cleaned up some of the audio there is still one curse word in it.... Without further ado http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdRTXMDBeRQ Be patient, He really starts to kick it up at around 2:00 into it.

Goodness that sounds like fun.

If you're playing the E shape with the capo on the 2nd fret, you were actually playing an F#

I don't know much theory DM... but I just figured this capo stuff out today!  LOL!
There's a chart here I made up today (along with a link to a more in depth one I found on another site):  http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=14925

A Banker parks his brand new Porsche in front of the office to show it off to his colleagues.

As he's getting out of the car, a lorry comes speeding along too close to the kerb and takes off the door before zooming off.

More than a little distraught, the Banker grabs his mobile and calls the police.

Five minutes later, the police arrive. Before the policeman has a chance to ask any questions, the man starts screaming hysterically: 'My Porsche, my beautiful silver Porsche is ruined. No matter how long it's at the panel beaters it'll simply never be the same again!'

After the man finally finishes his rant, the policeman shakes his head in disgust.

'I can't believe how materialistic you blessed Bankers are,' he says. 'You lot are so focused on your possessions that you don't notice anything else in your life.'

'How can you say such a thing at a time like this?' sobs the Porsche owner.

The policeman replies, 'Didn't you realise that your right arm was torn off when the truck hit you.'

The Banker looks down in horror.

'FLIPPING HECK!' he screams........'Where's my Rolex????...

Bwahahahaahah!!!

That one had me rolling on the floor!

Hi all,

i've been loving playing "6th avenue heartache" lately but I am getting tired of capoing all the time just to play it.  Does anyone know how to re-key the song for standard tuning (No capo)?

I initially thought that if you play with the capo then the songs just 2 frets higher in tuning meaning that a capoed "E" is a standard "D" but It didn't work out that way when I went to play it....

thanks,

Whoa! Thats a new one!
Thats the first time I've seen someone playing in Drop-D with only their thumb!

The Technique referenced before is like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEzKXW8q3Dw

MUCH MUCH more comfortable for playing long and hard...provided you don't have stubby fingers.

Tried that one time with my short-owned ibanez bass guitar and my Line-6 amp.
Turned up the volume and heard the speaker distort with that "PHBBBBBBBTTTTT" sound.
Promptly turned the volume back down and put it up.
Sold the amp shortly thereafter.
It just never responded to the bass strings on my guitars the same after that day...

I've got the Boss RC-2. It can record 16 minutes of you playing and loop it back for your pleasure.
Comes with drum tracks and quantizes your playing if you like so your tracks sound on-time and on-beat.
It's an amazing pedal to practice with. You can route your auxiliary signal into it from an mp3 player or a mic or whatever you want to plug into it while you play along with your guitar.
I bought mine off of Craigslist for 100.00 locally.

Good stuff,

Hello everyone, I'm in need of a little help.

*SNIP*

I've been thinking about getting rid of the multi effects and buying a single overdrive/distortion pedal and a wah pedal.  The distortion effects on the Boss are very good but I'm not sure if I would be better off with one really good distortion rather than 22 ok ones.  It would save me lugging it around from place to place as well.

Any suggestions for a good overdrive/distortion pedal that's versatile enough to play pretty much anything plus a wah pedal that will go nicely with it.

Or should I stay with the multitude of effects I've already got.

Your opinions, ladies and gentlemen, would be appreciated.

I did the same thing when I got my Fender Princeton 650 amplifier. The clean channel sounded so good I never used anything but it. When I wanted effects I used my pedals on the clean channel.
I use an "MXR Classic Distortion" for my distortion/overdrive and a VOX Wah pedal for my wah effect.
That's really the only two pedals I carry with me inside the back of my amp anymore. I used to carry a chorus, reverb and looper pedal but I never used em when playing live. So they stay home now until I build a pedalboard.

Wow, I wish I could digitize myself and pop up on the other side of their screen like in "The lawnmower man" and just liquefy their brains.

Dm

What I do is go on youtube and download the backing track videos. (With "downloadhelper" for firefox)
Then convert the videos to MP3 with "IMTOO video converter".
Then I load them onto my blackberry and route the output from it into my amp or looper pedal and jam out.

Awesome. I hope that you can get as much and more out of the technique as I have.
It has made playing for extended periods much much easier and given my creativity a kick in the pants that I've not experienced before.

And being able to play Hendrix & John Mayer songs is fun too...lol.

The music industry (The greedy part of it that the producers and CEOs live in) is quickly dying.
Right now, they are trying everything they can do to feed their bloated machine and take in more and more revenue. Even at the expense of destroying free thought, research and interest in the one thing that drives their machine.......MUSIC.

Things won't get better until everything falls apart and dies....and is subsequently reborn.

I've been saying the same stuff about the government for the past 10 years and no one agrees or understands.
The only way to make the govt better....get rid of em all and let the people (NOT CORPORATIONS) vote em in for real!!
