Welcome, hammondude.  yes, there is lots to learn here and lots of friendly people.  i don't know about any keyboard sites.

I have tried thumb and finger picks.  I don't use them enough to get used to them.  it takes a lot of use, I'm afraid, to get them right and feel comfortable.  As for  a $35 pick, that is just wrong.

I've never heard of them either.  they appear to be nice guitars.  And it sounds like everything you want in a guitar.  What's holding you up, besides the money?

I've tried the goal thing and never seem to make it.  If i really want to learn a difficult song, I just practice parts of it everytime I pick up my guitar.  When i get that part down, I go to the next, until I have the whole thang down.  Sometimes i get bored half way through and come back to it later.  Not a very good system, but......

I love Chet for that very reason.  He looks like he's having fun and he brings a smile to your face.  I have two albums by him and mark and another  with him and jerry.
