Yeah, right.  A good guitar and a sippy cup.  It doesn't get better than that

I, also had not heard that.  Thanks for sharing.  She was a very important part of the group.

You know, I've had about 8 or 9 guitars in my life and I've always given the old one to some youngster wanting to learn.  The last few years, though, I have been keeping two on hand just for shucks and grins.  Now if I get a new one, I keep the two newest and give away the third one.  Anywhere I can help bring music into someones life.  As for a frayed G string, whoa!!  I'd post a pic of me playing in a frayed G string, but I would probably be banned.  smile

Yes, you'll make it norhterndownpour.  Like they said, find songs you like first of all.  Ones you know the words and melody to and just start strumming away and singing.  And practice as often as you can.  Try to practice at least once a day for 10 or 15 minutes minimum.  You'll be surprised as time goes by how you satrt doing songs better.  Good luck, bud.

Yeah, just lay the guitar flat on your lap and count from top to bottom.  That's one smart teacher.  It's all relative.
That is if you are right handed, of course.  The guitar is a strange instrument when it comes to string layout and chord diagrams.

Read through some of this and you kind of get an idea how to teach a child.  I am sure there are plenty more sites.  Good luck.

Ah, you look fine.  And you look like you were enjoying yourself.  Of course, if it was really Baccardi, you probably sounded better than ever.

I like Roger Miller.  I had never heard River in the Rain before.  I like it.  We used to play Cug a Lug in the car for the grandkids when they were little.  They still love that song.

You are destined to hum this tune throughout eternity.

Sgt Pepper for me.  It is the one and only album that has always stuck in my mind.

Oh, him, he's just another one of those people who were born with a guitar in their hands.  Probably never practiced a day in his life.  You name a song and he just starts playing it from memory.  Imagine that!  It must be easy to do because he's making it look easy.

I know for a fact that lots of alcohol makes me sing better.  And louder.  Everyone always cheers me on.  smile

These guys have it right.  When most people say it is an easy song, they are probably just strumming and singing.  That's mainly what I do and most of the songs are easily recognizable when I do them.  If you want to play exactly like the original, then it will be harder.  You may be a perfectionist and there is nothing wrong with that.  Just know that it will take you longer to learn a song.  We each have our own picture of happiness.  Don't be too tough on yourself.  And good luck, whichever way you go.

Well, All1, you sound great.  I do the same thing once in a while.  Good for the soul.

On the other hand, even if you don't do it well during the serenade, she will like it that you gave it a shot anyway.  And as someone else earlier said, look into her eyes when you sing.

Fortunately, I have a pretty good voice.  Sang in high school choir and quartet for 4 years.  I can hit the notes right most all the time.  One of the things I find myself doing is when I sing a part of the song that is suddenly too high, I automatically drop an octave without a problem.  Roy Orbison did this quite a bit in his songs.  Anyway, singing is not my problem.  Keeping the strumming going evenly with my singing is sometimes strained.
