There ya go Jody, big_smile
Reading it is so much easier when it is typed like it's played.

Don't be afraid to come back and change your lyrics when you feel they're not right. As the melody grows and the song gets tighter you'll find the edit button real handy.

Cheers and Nice Write

P.S. I'm not necessarily right, it's just my point of view. big_smile

Holy Moly...You guys are getting good. big_smile
Ark, Your imagination in coming up with these melodies and then getting the job done in the mix dept is really something to hear.
Kudos big_smile Ya gotta love it when a plan comes together
Great call on your part Ark to bring Phill into this. Not only did he write some outstanding lyrics and his acoustic playing fit the piece to a tee but...as you know what I'm gonna say...great vocals.

Well Done Gentlemen big_smile

Hey Butch, I don't watch too many professional teams any more because of that and that they make way too much money for what they do.
Gimme a college game or OHL hockey (One step below NHL) any day. Those kids aren't spoiled yet and are fighting for a spot so they can get spoiled.
With the exception of Cheetah Woods that's one reason why I like golf. They play for the love of the game. Last weekend (I can't remember his name) was in a playoff with Jim Furyk and accidentally hit the grass on his upswing.
He saw that he did it and called the match and lost. They had to go to a TV review in slow motion to verify it. If he won it was 1.3 mil. His take ended up being in the $600,000 area for 2nd place. That's how much he loved the game.

Hi Wayne big_smile

Trust me, you have no reason to apologize. When a lyric/music is posted I would rather see an honest critique of the piece. Whether it's a phasing or the music, A fresh look from another point of view is a good thing.
Don't be afraid to critique anything I post...it is a good thing big_smile

Cheers my friend big_smile

I can't type any more...I got blisters from typing sore eyes from reading and I'm starving. lol

I can see that Jeff Healy is a huge influence on you.
I wish I could play with a guitar on my lap. It looks like a pretty tough thing to do but loads of fun.

Nice!!!

Did you say you were drinking a Schooner at the end? It looks good so I think I'll have a Blue Light now.

Thanks for the link

Thank You kindly Daddy big_smile
High marks coming from the master of the quick lyric.
Thank You my friend.

Hi Strans big_smile
I hope I don't upset you when I say that I changed that lyric. roll I changed the phrasing just a touch cause I wasn't sure. Let me know if it should be changed back. I changed a few lyrics but I love the feedback cause that's what helps the song get gooder so by all means let me know.

Hi Selso big_smile
Glad you like it my friend. I keep thinking about it at work...my boss ain't the happiest with me right now. Oiy
How are you doing anywho, I miss your homegrown playing and writing. It's a cool sound ya got going on.
Thanks Again ( I look forwards to hearing sum of your tunes)

Hiya Wayne big_smile
I'm really pleased with the way this is turning out. It has a real strong melody that I have been tweeking as I'm going along. Oiy double Oiy I understand what you mean about the chording but your good suggestion doesn't work with the melody in mind. Having a complete song without a given chorus in it is why it is tied in as I have it.
I don't know if that makes any sense to you but someday....someday lol your gonna hear it and know what I mean.
Thanks my friend for your input, absolutely no offense taken. Cheers

Howdy Doody Phill big_smile
Some times when the words flow they just flow. I wish I knew where to get them cause I'd be going there a lot more. lol In my head I picture this as a Willie Nelson style ballad with his style of guitar, easy and pretty.
I know...I know recording when...You sound like my ex's lol I'm biting at the bit which is a good sign that I'm ready to give it a go...soon.
Cheers.
Hi Jody big_smile

Hi George big_smile roll
Thank You Very Extra Large Kingsize for your read and comments. big_smile
With out getting to into it  I suffer with anxiety pretty severely so when I try to cypher out something like Cubase my anxiety kicks up and I'm a mess. I kinda get dyslexic and can't understand anything, my memory goes for a picnic, can't spell straight (Thank God for Spell Check cause you wouldn't understand what I'm typing most days lol) So I tend to stay away from any thing that kicks it off.Must have more meds.
Anywho as I mentioned to Phill I'm getting itchy so I might be knocking on your computer monitor soon.
Cheers and thanks again

Howdy Doody Ark
I just about had myself talked into buying an electric guitar and other gear for Anybody Out There...Then I woke up and slapped myself in the face. lol Yup, I'm getting it from all over about recording...mostly from myself.
I hope real soon my friend big_smile
Appreciate the read and support.

Later Eh

Hah-hah hah. Hi Phill my friend. big_smile
When I was writing this I tried to picture a kind of red neck factory worker going through the motions.
Your not a red neck are you?
I'm glad to see you got the humor in it cause I surly didn't want to offend you. big_smile

How are things with you now a days anywho? Shoot me an Email sometimes...I'd love to type to you.

A lyric given to me inspired this song. A slow country ballad with no chorus, not sure if it works. Lots of finger picking with step downs. Any thoughts appreciated. big_smile

One Long Stem Red Rose by Ken Peters April 21 2010

V1

[D]I fondly do recall when I first saw your smile.

Your [G]auburn hair flowed gently with the [D]breeze.

[D]You said you were hitching and just trying to find,

Some [E7]piece of mind,

Not [A7]ties that bind.

[G]When I looked into your eyes, you [D]looked down and away.

[G]I felt something burned you deep [A7]inside.

[D]A single tear rolled off your cheek onto the ground.

Then you [A]smiled,

Just a [D]little smile.

V2

[D]And said your name was Jane and you were twenty one.

Old [G]enough to travel through this [D]land.

[D]And bold enough to fly as high as one could go,

In [E7]rain or snow,

Where [A7]no one knows.

[G]When you looked into my eyes, I [D]saw your troubled soul.

[G]I felt there was something else to [A7]hide.

[D]You said you've gone a thousand miles with millions more to go.

Across [A]mountains high,

Where [D]eagles fly.

V3

[D]Then you said Momma died two years from yesterday.

And [G]Poppa's drink will be his dying [D]day.

[D]That you couldn't take the pain of what has past.

[E7]Then you laughed,

A [A7]hurting laugh.

[G]When you looked back to the ground and I [D]felt you slip away.

[G]I didn't have the answers youre[A7]quired.

[D]I didn't have the means to heal your tears inside.

So I [A]wiped your eyes,

Such [D]pretty eyes.

V4

[D]When you said goodbye we hugged as life long friends.

You [G]said you heard your calling in the [D]breeze.

[D]You said you'd be alright that you found peace of mind.

No [E7]longer blind,

Your [A7]eyes were kind.

[G]When you walked away I felt your [D]sadness in the air.

I [G]waved to you and wished you fare thee [A7]well.

[D]In two days time on Jackson Line, we found you in the breeze.

Be[A]neath a tree,

An [D]old oak tree.

So I place [D]one long stem red rose, by your graveside set apart.

From [G]two white carnations for your Mom and Daddy's heart.

I'll lay [G]three yellow lilies up a[D]gainst the old oak tree.

Where [A]angels took your hand to set you [D]free.

[A]Sleep my new found angel,

Be at [D]peace.

Hi buvvy, It's a touchy situation out there and I didn't want to write something that would offend somebody caught trapped because of the way things are. I tried to write it hoping the humor would out weigh the topic.

Thanks for the read and comments. big_smile

Hiya Pete
Good line of thought with the Dylan take, I never pictured him as I wrote it but since you say it, I can see this being done in the Dylan style.

Hi George

Thanks Again George big_smile

Yeah it was a real good show to watch. John and Lyle gave some pretty interesting takes on how they come up with their songs as did Ray. They each played one song (I can't remember which ones) and then teamed up at the end for (I can't remember which one lol )
All in all it was very good entertainment. Hopefully it will be on again for those that haven't seen it...or those that can't remember it. lol
Good One Russ lol

Kenny

I watched this on Bravo last night and I think it is being replayed tonight or hopefully through the week. It was a good show with John Prine, Lyle Lovett and Ray LaMontagne. You should watch it if you have a chance.

Cheers
