Thanks a bunch Phill I go thru several genres (trying to find one to stick with) the blues seem the most natural could be the age thing
I think your referring to "Invisible star" the song with just acoustic and vocal, since I got the bass it opens up a lot of possibilities with my songs and adds a new dimension along with a good solid rhythm backing the loop station works as a pre mixing funtion also as I actually hear all the parts before I feed the information into my digital recorder on two tracks, I've noticed Ark you and myself seem to compose songs around the same time must be a lunar cycle
thanks again for your comments

great tracks my maan! hear the harmonizer too, the dobro is excellent, and the vocals, the rhythm was smoking! loved the arrangement, so i guess you can say...i liked it, seriously though, very good, into a bit of a blues groove at the moment i think?
while i was on your web, i had a listen to the other tracks too, i still like "dark star" as it has a kind of innocence? is that the word, any way you keep going from strength to strength.. live long and prosper my colonial friend.
phill
nice to hear selso the Dobro slide is a lot of fun to play I sometimes spend a few hours just picking out melodies or lead licks a few times a week I love it

I use a Boss BR-8 and there is a choice of 3 different speeds and I found out theres no difference between any of them if there is its not noticable enough to make a difference in the recording quality if I want better quality I go to the recording studio and they have Pro Tools which makes my setup look like what it is a home recording device to get fairly good results but not the best so it really comes down to choice if you have the money who wouldnt choose a recording studio?
Those guitars I only get to play in a music store and only after I "audition" on a knockoff to show them I am a musician and know how to treat a fine instrument like Gibson or Martin hopefully the lotto fairy will be kind someday while I'm still alive
What is the topic of your thread?
That makes sense because with my Dobro slide guitar I play it horizontal and it resonates to my ear louder and it also seems to record in my video with more volume those designs on that link really look great I wonder if anyone with a Gibson or Martin would have that done or forgo it because of the possible resale value
Interesting reading pix but is there a change in the quality of tone or is it the same only with more volume?
Daddycool thanks for the kind words
Thanke Thanke Thanke Doug
the blues dont always have to be slow I like the upbeat feel more even if the story is about losing or troubles it just kind of clips along and makes people want to dance and have a good time and forget there troubles for a bit,the loop pedal is almost another instrument in itself but once you work with it and naturally read the manual everything falls into place I still have some smoothing out to do so I keep practicing with it till its second nature just like learning scales or any chords difficult at first but with time and practice the rough edges disappear
Ark your music seems to take the mind to a peaceful place a world of its own very nice my friend
Ark thanks I feel that there are a lot of genres I can play in but playing the blues feels the most natural and I feel really at ease with the loop pedal
StranSongs it was just a jam that turned into a song, seems most songs that are fun wind up that way thanks for the comment
I uploaded a recording of the video by useing the loop station data and added a slide guitar and vocal it helped haveing all the tracks pre mixed give a listen when you have a few secs
Thanks Randy I would rather play with a few more people but it aint gonna happen looks like perhaps some day

Thanks Geo yea I have but it feels more comfortable laying flat and I'm gonna improvise and make a stand so it lays horizontal probably from an old heavy mic stand just got to figure out how to do it but necessity is the mother of invention
geoaguiar wrote:Nice work as always sir. I don't want to hijack the thread but I was considering trying dobro. Have you ever played a round neck upright like a regular guitar (I think they call it spanish style)??
I thank you very much I will be working with this loopstation a lot I'm putting a songlist together haven't made up my mind what genre yet but I'm leaning toward the blues

Quite a nice song there Phill I like the chord changes and the arrangment your vocals as usual are a unique voice there was a little trailoff on the end of "leave me this way" and it could be just me but the vocal needed more highs but my hearing is suspect there are frequencies (high) I dont hear to well so its most likely that the bottom line is I like all your songs and I will have to add this one well done Phill
I was having a little fun with my new loopstatiion and prerecorded a few tracks and jammed some slide guitar (dobro) and made up the lyrics on the fly I really am having a ball with this new equipment and beginning to learn how everything works if you get a few minutes check out the video

Thats good enough for me your in
67gtx thanks for including yourself we are a bit slow at the moment but we still are greatful for your help and I will add you to the list can you give me a name or nickname? for now I will use your Chordie Id
siggi whoever told you that it was arrogant is mistaken the best singers from Sinatra to Elvis got emotional if fact you cant really sing from your heart unless theres emotion I think the more you sing you will eventually learn to channel your emotions because music without emotion is an insult to your audience
I think something could be worked out between you and whoever is interested your price could always be adjusted to allow for the s&h and I feel whatever the cost it should be split in all fairness

I agree Rus ... that'd be nice although I'm not sure I'd pay for shipping when sending a Les Paul off to Scotland
I would still like to see a classified forum for members wishing to sell trade anything
Phill Kunaki will produce a cd from your mp3's for nothing also give you a site to market them and I think the only charge $1.75 of each one you order the first is free and they also have cover designs and bar codes for free once you upload the songs one at a time bit by bit they send you all of them in a wav format plus ship you one all mixed and packaged and a link to the order site you can embed in your myspace page if I remember on orders over 1000 they ship free and CDbaby can take a few and also provide a site for a low fee worth looking into
Phill Williams wrote:a CD? i wish...
uk I watched him on Austin City Limits and my guess would be ALL of them he really is an awsome musician
opps I stand corrected I never was a Hendrix buff but I like many was amazed at his ability thanks for the correction

I don't mean to nit-pick the details but I'm a Hendrix history freak.........
Actually Jimi didn't write "Hey Joe". Billy Roberts, a member of a Los Angeles garage band named "The Leaves" penned this tune. ( copyright 1962 ) Jimi and Chas Chandler( producer) named Roberts the writer of this tune on the b-side of "Stone-Free" released in 1966.
Good example nontheless.
and johncross21, I know this is an obvious statement but the " hands on" approach is the almost always the best. That and printing yourself a little wallet sized copy of the wheel(circle) and look at it when you have a few minutes during the course of the day.
