hi themgilroy,
no sorry there is no F in the song. it's very complicated in that it uses a lot of major 7ths. this is the best i could make of it...
opening part.. A- Bm- E7- A-E-E7
main verse... A- Amaj7- A7- E- E7- Bm- Bm (major7)- Bm7- E7. A- Amaj7- A7- D- Dmaj7- B diminished - A- Amaj7- Bm7- Bm6- E9- E7.
end part.. A- Amaj7- A7- E9- E7- A.
the Bm (major7) isnt as complicated as it may sound. she plays it by fingering (lowest to highest).. B-F#-Bb-A-F#-B
someone will probably come along and say that i'm completely wrong...
still it's beautifully sung and performed. she gets a lovely sound where ever she is..

i cant imagine anything more soul destroying ( i didn't want to say heartbreaking, but that's what i meant!!! sorry) it took me a good year to find my telecaster. it's like finding your soul mate, you can look for years and try many out. but when the right one is in your arms...you know it.
hope tom and the boys get the guitars back soon.

Re: RIP Jim Marshall (5 replies, posted in Electric)
in all honesty i never liked marshalls. i played the valve amp and found it lacking in clarity, volume and as soon as you gave it a bit of gusto, it distorted. i have pedals to do that. having said that, i used a bass cabinet for years with no moans. the trannie amp i got with it gave up the ghost after about a year...which is most likely why i wont use them now. give me a good peavy or fender or vox...now there's a good amp.
my condolences to jim's family, it is a sad time as he was an icon to many a dirty guitarist.

yep, i agree with you jerry, the french are strange to a high degree. i dont like wine much but californian wine is much nicer as is australian wine. give me a good sherry any time. i do drive a renault (my second) though must say i thought rovers were brilliant for a cheap car before they went bust!
totally disagree with french food....the best steak i ever had was in australia, by a country mile and a half..LOL
by the way, french traffic laws only affect non-french drivers, and they also flout british laws when they're over here.

Re: Beatles sons to get together? (8 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
ah but! john has two sons; julian and sean, which would be in the band?
also, i have read loads about the beatles and zak never rated the beatles or his dad! he loved kieth moon and the who, who he's played with.
and who would play bass as james seems to play guitar!
i always kind of hoped julian would join paul, george and ringo to replace his dad. now maybe dhanii would have to join too?
all the same, it's a band i'd like to hear just to see if the magic is in the genes.

OK, i suppose i must clarify this one butch. i had my first vasectomy just after splitting with my first wife...why not play safe? then i met wife no 2, after a year she said why dont we have a baby between us? so phill went for a reversal...which worked. one baby became two...so vasectomy no 2. with the exception of sad films it's the only thing that ever brought a tear to my eye! LOL

i missed my first son's birth, but caught my other two son's and my daughter. it's a funny thing but, i never really wanted to have children, it's the wife who says "come on, let's have another baby!!!"
i had an epidural when i had my hernia op. not nice. but the vasectomy injection (i was awake) in the boys really hurt. and i had TWO vasectomy's. pain you forget until it happens again.
i remember my first guitar. and the day it folded itself in two....guess the strings might have been a bit tight...LOL
i cant forget the day i tried out my fender telecaster. i wanted to buy it the moment the shop guy put it in my hands, true love...just like the babies really, i never wanted to let them go again, i suppose that applies also to my wife. no money changed hands for the last two items.....

Re: Hollow Body Electric Guitar Question (24 replies, posted in Electric)
the biggest difference to the sound a guitar makes is the person playing it. i watched a concert where steve howe plays a solid body guitar that sounded more like an acoustic than my acoustic does. i've also heard players make an acoustic sound like a solid body. acoustics vary in sound depending on maker and strings or the way the guitarist plays. basically, it's the quality of guitar and the quality of the player. we can all kick a ball but how many can score the goal?

Re: You know what my problem is? (8 replies, posted in Songwriting)
hi mary beth, writing songs is about what you feel and the way you think about what you feel. the words you use to describe that feeling can make or break the song? no, not really! songs have so many elements, fine words are just a part of the whole thing. a good melody line and a commercial sounding tune, then add a strong chorus with sing-a-long ability. easy....no. some of the best songs ever written have never been committed to record. they may still be in your head. dont worry about all that stuff. write what's in your mind.

ps. as far as bob dylan is concerned, my favorite track by him is on the travelling wilberys album, it's called "tweeter and the monkey man" great story, great melody and performed by some of the biggest names in music history

Re: 6 nations cup (25 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
hi dino, all the football games had their roots in a street game that was played by all the men from one village against all the men from the next, the object was to get (i think) a pigs bladder to the other side of the village. there were many injuries and sometimes deaths and a lot of fighting. from this i believe soccer came into being. then during a game in the high school named RUGBY someone picked up the ball and the game came into being. i think it's the same guy who then took the game to ireland, australia then america, giving each their own rules. there is also two similar yet different rugby disciplines, union and league. in the UK league is played mainly in the north of england, whereas union is played mainly down south, and of-course in wales scotland and ireland, where each also has a league side. league is also a big game in new zealand and australia.
the main differences between rugby and american football, is that you are only allowed to tackle the man holding the ball, when you have a touch down in rugby, you actually have to touch the ball to the ground. if a substitution occurs that player stays on, in football i believe that players are put on for certain plays then taken off till the next play. and of-course you play the 40 minutes of each half without stopping for commercial breaks or time-outs. you dont just need to be super fit but also have stamina.

hi jeff, full monty came to fame as the title of the male strippers film which started the male stripper stuff in the UK. full hog, well i don't know where that saying originated but it's been around as long as i have, maybe it's a UK thing?
as for the recording, i'm having trouble getting songs onto my PC, then onto sound click or myspace, and the quality is pretty awful too, but i'll keep trying, and when i get some results i'll let you all know.

Re: My sound - it's official (24 replies, posted in Electric)
as i stated earlier, i have an FX multi-pedal boss ME50. but like you i also have a host of stomp pedals like; a stereo chorus (back in the day they had to state it was stereo!) a reverb/echo, a fuzz and a wah wah. i also had a gizmo called a "funny cat" which gave some weird and (not so) wonderful sounds. i used it mainly for recording, one of the FX was sitar, well almost! i once owned a WEM copicat. so as you can see i struggled to get the sound i wanted too. still looking....
