OK Phill I guess I can get the ball rolling, songs or ideas for lyrics do not always come when you want them so what I do is to video tape my jams even if its just trying out some changes because sometimes if I dont a really good idea is lost and if its on video I can reproduce the feeling and chord patterns along with any accents that make the song unique. Once I have decided to record this I make a decision as to if I want it acoustic with vocal like my songs "the truth, invisible star, soap on a rope.meshack etc.) or use effects and rhythm machines bass electric guitar and keyboards it depends on how much I feel the songs need and once Im set I usually start with the acoustic guitar for the rhythm I can do this because I have perfect meter(not bragging just fact) I usually lay another acoustic track and play the chords in a different position on the neck to give it variety and a full sound, next comes the bass, electric rhythm guitar and percussion followed by vocals and the last track is a lead solo and intro any strings or keyboard or slide work is inserted here and then I mix each track separately by turning the faders or volume control on all the other tracks to zero and work with just that one track adjusting the eq's adding reverb or delay kinda like salting to taste lol after all the tracks have been mixed I adjust the pan and bounce them if I need extra tracks to record but if the 8 tracks sound good them I open Audacity and load the song from my BR-8 and any final adjustments for volume or eq's is done with this program also to clean up unwanted noise and to trim it both at the beginning and the end and all this is done with a headset do not rely on your speakers after the final tweeks I convert it to mp3 and upload to wherever I wish smile

I like your guitar and the song by Jethro Tull when you get it worked out record it so we can hear what you have been pushing the envelope to do,I practice everyday mostly runs scales and experiment with new progressions in addition to compositions so I really dont do other artist material not that I dont like the songs but I would rather listen then take the time to learn which is better spent on my own music as far as an envelope for me I guess it would have to be playing a quick phrase with precision over and over till its dead on smile

KajiMa i never have tried it, most web cams like mine(logitec) have there own microphones as well as video effects and the sound can be adjusted but I dont know if media player has reverb that can be added after, it would be interesting if this were possible smile

4 yea if you have a web cam but if not you would need a digital camara that shoots movies or a camcorder as far as editing the sound what you hear is generally what you get I use a kodak 8.3 megapixel and it downloads to my pc,there are some less expensive camcorders for around 40 or 50 dollars that will also do the job ok but unless you have some video editing program the sound quality really cant be adjusted smile

Thank you geo I had some fun with this it was recorded with a live feel useing two mic.s a Sm57 for the acoustic and a Sm58 (sure) for vocals I just fed them into a small 4 channel mixer and into the vocal input on my BR-8 its a simple easy way to get a nice recording smile

Hey Russ I hope roof the joists are in sound condition as I have this visions of you being buried under topsoil Tomatoes and Radishes.. smile
I have a typical suburban garden 60x25ft lots of shrubs and roses. Grow some annuals from seed in my greenhouse.
Used have an alotment and grew most of your usual veg but didn't have the time to do it justice....
Growing some courgettes this year.
I used to grow tomatoes in the greenhouse just to see how many trusses/Toms I could get on a plant and ended up with so many toms that I didn't know what to do with them....

Have a look at this, it will give you an idea. You don't have to buy these bags, you can use any old container or sack. Make sure it has drainage holes at the bottom.

Russell, got 10 acres here in NE La. Just about everyday we see deer, turkeys and other critters. My garden space, this year, is about 100' x 120'. Lotta work but well worth it when you set down to the dinner table.

Charlotte, nice place for a cat.

That's cold, funny but cold lol puddy tats make a fine fertilizer and I have never tried to grow potatoes in a bag,how big and what kind of bag? like a gunny sack? it sounds like it would work I will check into it thanks for the tip smile

charlotte wrote:

Russell, have you tried growing potatoes in bags up there and if you can get them, try Sparta tomatoes, beautiful taste, although they could just be an English brand.

Cabbage, lettuce, rasberries, stawberries, beans planted in my garden along with the neighbours cat. They are still looking for it.

It used to strut past my window with that 'I'm going to dig up your plants' look on it's face. It didn't look that cocky when I levelled the 12 bore at it !!!

I agree with Jerome why not have both? I have a strat, dobro and a hohner electric acoustic but ive only plugged it in once because it sounds better miked when recording and I use martin silk n steel strings they really feel nice and sound great on recordings,my amp is only 30 watts but it has a "dirty" channel that sustains and coupled with my Boss ME=50 processor its all the sound I need for my strat smile

When I play a lead solo my way of thinking is if you have to think about what your going to play your not really playing just assembling riffs that fit into the progression and unless its a structured solo like playing in 3rds or 10ths (harmonies) or a intro that has to be played note for note I just go with what feels good and let my feelings guide my hands smile
