Thank you Rhiannon and James,

Rhiannon, my pretend grandaughter, you are far too young to know of such things and have too vivid an imagination. 'Pink fuffy handcuffs' indeed, are you sure you are not related to Upyerkilt Ken? lol  T.T and Henry say "Purr".

James I may well make another slideshow and put this on YouTube too, I certainly have enough photos, and as you say the two will go well together. "What a Friend We Have in Kitty" is certainly still on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INIhGiU_SE8 and incidentally it is the very first song I recorded and put on the Internet.

Hello Twist,

Welcome to Chordie. Any guitar will sound different when someone else plays it so why not record yourself playing it and then listen to your recording. Not only do you hear it as others do it does give you the chance to analyse your playing and look for improvements you might make. You may just be surprised how good you sound too.

Just a thought,

Roger

Hi James,

Your house sounds like a grand place to be, NOT a house but a HOME.

Good song, great to play. Thank you,

Hi Emma,

Wonderful lyrics with much feeling and emotion. I have just checked back through your posts to confirm what I thought I remembered. You are just 12, unless you have had a birthday since May, which makes these lyrics even more remarkable.

I am really looking forward to seeing the chords put to this song. Well done.

Hello Hi16,

If you open a song that you want to add to your songbook and look half way down the page on the right you will see a tag 'Add to Songbook'. Click on that and it will be copied to your songbook.

Hope that helps,

Roger

Hi Mountaingirl,

The short answer is yes although it may take a while to appear if just left. When you have the song posted elswere note the URL, open 'Resources' at the top of the page, then open 'Add song to the index', type in the URL and Amin will see that it gets put in the Index promptly.

Incidently the song must be in chopro format to be accepted and you can see how that is done in the 'Sticky' at the start of the Songwriting section.

Hi Ken,

I think I will have to re-write this song especially for your benefit but if I do I will probably not be able to re-post it here. lol

Of course you could always unleash your fertile imagination and re-write it yourself if you wish and from the sounds of it make a better job than I could as you seem to know about these things than I do. lol

Hi Jerome,

I spend little time in Bands and Artists and I missed this so I see I shall have to visit more often. Anyway a little Irish songbird has just told me about your recording so I have looked, found and listened and I have to say I enjoyed your songs. One thing that I particularly liked was the guitar intro to the "Circus Song" well done to who ever played that in fact well done to all of you. I will keep and eye on the site.

Thank you Ken, Arkady, Badeye and Bonedaddy,

I am pleased to hear that I am not the only one who is soft with his pets because I was the one who came to Portugal and said "Definitely no pets they are too much of a commitment". Bonedaddy I had not heard that saying before, it is well worth remembering.

Helena, who has slipped a post in while I was writing this, thank you for your kind words but did you have to remind everyone that Henry is more intelligent than I and realised the danger of aerosols and flame lol.

When I moved here there were four dogs and Henry went missing for 5 days leaving little T.T. on her own. On the third night there was such a commotion and yelping and the dogs have ever since given the cats a wide berth.

Thank you all again,

Roger

Yes Jerome, you and everyone on that list deserve a pat on the back. You all make sensible (well most of the time lol), meaningful comments and not just any old rubbish to increase the count and all of you have the right attitude towards Chordie and it's members and each one of you is worthy of praise.

Before anyone starts thinking kinky leather straps and things there is an old addage that 'dogs have owners and cats have slaves' and this little ditty is based on that. It is of course dedicated to my two cats, T.T. (Twinkle Toes) and Henry, although I am in reality only guardian to Henry, and it is put here for your amusement.

I have recorded it on MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/rogerguppy

Slaveby Roger Guppy

A slow waltz

Intro:

[G][C][G][D]

.

.

Verse 1:

[G]I am a [C]slave to [G]Henry and [D]T.T.,

For[C]ever at [D]their beck and [G]call,[D]

[G]When they de[C]mand I must [G]give right [D]away,

And [C]I get [D]no pay at [G]all.[D]

.

.

Verse 2:

[G]TT was the [C]first to [G]come to my [D]home,

She tried my [C]seats, my [D]bed and my [G]mat,[D]

De[G]cided my [C]place would [G]suit her just [D]fine,

Adopted [C]me, and moved [D]in, just like [G]that.[D]

.

.

Verse 3:

[G]Then Henry's [C]mum had to [G]move to the U[D]K,

And though [C]fit, he [D]has F.I.[G]V.,[D]

So [G]he could not [C]go and he [G]had to stop [D]here,

So he [C]moved in with [D]T.T. and with [G]me.[D]

.

.

Chorus 1:

[C]Henry and [D]T.T. [C]are both slave [D]drivers,

They de[C]mand all my [D]time and [G]attention,[D]

But [C]I do not [D]really [C]lose out at [D]all,

In [C]return I get their [D]love and [G]affection.[D]

.

.

Verse 4:

I [G]spend more on [C]them than my[G]self each [D]week,

They get [C]prawns for [D]breakfast and [G]chicken for [D]tea,

[G]I just get [C]Corn Flakes and baked [G]potato or [D]fries,

So they get [C]fed far [D]better than [G]me.[D]

.

.

Chorus 2:

[C]Henry and [D]T.T. [C]are both slave [D]drivers,

And [C]I must [D]be completely [G]bats,[D]

[C]I should be in [D]charge as [C]I am the [D]human,

And [C]Henry and [D]T.T. are both [G]cats.[C][G]

As I have access to how many posts members have made, for interest sake, I will list the top 10

James McCormick 1264
Gitaardocphil        1012
Upyerkilt               993
Old Doll                 737
Roger Guppy         717
Badeye                 593
Bootlegger            550
Jerome O'Neil        528
Admin                   465
Jets60                   427

As you can see only three people have posted more messages than Old Doll and I do agree that she has been, and still is, a much valued Member of Chordie and would make an excellent Moderator. She would certainly be my first choice if an opening arose.

Go to your old Songbook, delete the songs first and then you will see a tab to delete the Songbook.

Ok I am showing my age again with some of these but what about:

The Everly Brothers
Mamas and Papas
Simon and Garfunkel
Peter, Paul and Mary
John Denver
Glen Campbell
Buddy Holly
Roy Orbison

All greats and certainly musical influences for me.

Hi GuitarHero81,

Your Songbook should allow you to have 100 songs in it before you have to start a new one.
There seems to be a problem here but I think that only Per, the founder of Chordie, can sort for you.

The only thing that I could suggest is to make a new one anyway and put the six songs you already have into it and then delete your original one.

Hi Mountaingirl,

Welcome to you as a new Chordie Member. By the very fact that you have signed in to Chordie you are a Member of Chordie. It is as simple as that.

The Songwriting section is for Chordie Members to show their own compositions of original music and lyrics for fellow Members play and comment on.

Previously published music and lyrics by non-members is covered by copyright laws and Chordie could be closed down for hosting them so Chordie searches for what is already on the Internet, sorts them by Artist and alphabetically so you can quickly find songs that you are looking for.

So you can write an original piece and show it in the Songwriting section but I am afraid you cannot work out the tabs, chords and lyrics to someone else's work and put that on Chordie.

I hope that explains it better for you. Please post again if you need any clarification.

Take care,

Roger

This message is for those of you wanting to post known songs that are not in Chordie's library.

Unfortunately Chordie does not host any songs, apart from the original ones by Members in the Songwriting section. Chordie is a search engine and it collects the location of songs already on the Internet and sorts them alphabetically and by artiste to make them easy to find. Although the songs appear to be on Chordie, they are not, the clever programming just makes it appear that they are. There are legal reasons concerning copyright laws that prevent Chordie from hosting songs.

You cannot post the lyrics of songs for which you do not hold the copyright in your messages either. The 'Sticky' at the start of the Song Requests section from Per, the founder of Chordie, shows how serious he takes this.

However if you post songs on a site that does host songs (and they must be in Chopro format) you can have Chordie access it and it will appear here. Send the information of the song and it's location to: admin@chordie.com

Hi again Snowden,

As a temporary measure I have uploaded "Bluer Than You" to a new MySpace I have opened to keep the songs of mine that friends are using on their MySpace. I did not realise that if I removed a song from mine it also deleted it from the others so this site will not get changed for a while and I can leave it there for you. I will warn you if I have to remove it at a later date. The URL is: http://www.myspace.com/roger4songs

The photo I have used is the Snowden mountain in Alaska.

I hope that helps you until something more permanent can be set up.

Roger
