Hmmmm...I will have to check out your postings tonight when I get home.
I have never been to the songwriting forum.
Thank you for drawing my attention to it.

Hey Detman.
That sounded great. Way more balanced. I think you sounded more sure of your self. I love the sound of your guitar. Great job to all of you. Is it hard playing in a choir with all those people? Seems like it would be hard not to step on anyone's toes.
Selso

Thank you! I have finally found the right amp to go with my Squier '51. It's a Fender Princeton 650 and it sounds sooooo perfect with my '51.

Well, I will say that it has been very hard getting used to everyone in the choir. Some people have a propensity for singing constantly thru the whole song...just as much as I was playing guitar while the lead singer was singing.

I think that we are all getting used to each other, but with me doing my part correctly it makes it easier on everyone.

Awesome! Thank you!
Yes, this recording went much better compared to the way I used to play while in church.
My amp had a lot to do with balancing things out too. It can plug directly into the sound board!

WOOHOO!!!!

After the first time it just gets easier!

Congrats man!!! I know how exciting this achievement is... I can remember the first time I pulled off my first B.
It led the way to all the other complicated A-Shaped Barre-chords further up the neck...and trained me for the dreaded F Barre-Chord...lol.

...and this is the result of your tutelage.

I would like to thank you all for influencing and guiding me in the right direction. Along with my new Fender Princeton 650 amp, everyone much preferred the style that I played in this past sunday as it left room for the singers and the keyboard player.

Your advice has been golden.

51's are around 200 if you can find one.
They will be collectors items in a few years.

Johnny Cash performed several times each at Folsom Prison and San Quentin Prison.  The albums from Folsom and San Quentin are classics.  There was a recently released  remastered version of the San Quentin album that includes some of the stage talk that's worth a listen.  It gets down to who Johnny Cash is.

Merle Haggard (I think it was) first heard Johnny Cash when he was an inmate at one of those prisons.  He said that Johnny Cash came in and talked to them like he was one of them - mostly because he was just as crazy and just as bold.  So then when he talked about the Gospel the way their mommas tried to teach them it really hit home.  I think that's cool that the Lord could use a reformed druggie wildman to go into a prison and evangelize folks who then turn their lives around not because the guy saying it was a well-educated and well-doctrined preacher who spoke from his head and from his book but because he was a madman just as crazy as the rest of them and spoke from his heart.  Merle Haggard of course went on to become quite the outlaw country star himself.  He wrote what is possibly the BEST country line ever "I turned 21 in prison doing life without parole..." in Mama Tried.

Okay brother, I owe you a pinch on the arm for bringing tears to my eyes today.

You say that when you were in the hospital, someone went to your place and did this to your guitar?
I think they are responsible for getting part of it fixed AT LEAST!

Sorry to hear the bad news but that is a lot of money. Can you still play it with the damage?

If you are interested in a Telecaster style neck and sound but like the physical body stylings of the Stratocaster, you should check out the "Squier '51".

I have one of these and it's the greatest mixture of the two guitars. I can get every sound of each of them and others as well by splitting the bridge pickup to single-coil mode.

It's so awesome.

Dont feel bad. I am in the same boat.
I usually do all my own work, but for some reason I can't get the action low enough on my Squier '51. Even shimming doesn't help...strangely enough. It just makes the frets buzz.
Then I wind up putting it at the same action level it had without the shims to keep the frets from buzzing...

this is nuts...

G = 1st (major chord)
Em = 6th and is the relative minor of G.
C = 4th (major chord)
D = 5th (major chord) could be played as a D7 which sounds good when returning to G.
Bm = this is the relative minor of D and is played as an off chord. As an off chord it could also be played as a B or a B7 chord.

Thats an awesome chord progression!!
Thanks!!

well said.
I am not going to be hypocritical here and say how much I will miss him or how great I thought he was because I didnt.
I do admire for what he achieved in his life through music and thats it.

I was watching the news this morning and showing a young woman, probably too young to be around in the early 80's when whacko was at his peak. She was crying her eyes out saying she heard this heard that and then she said " I just dont know who to trust anymore" she looked genuinely heartbroken. My question is WHY? whacko probably didnt even know, he probably maybe never even had eye contact with her. If she is like this with someone she didnt know personally what will she be like with family members when they die. What a sad life she is going to have.
Death of celebrities really goes too far sometimes. Everyone thinks they know the person personally.
It is sad when anyone dies, and you could feel sad, very sad and depressed when a favourite celebrity dies but to act like this is becoming a morbid facsination.
I felt sad when Syd Barrett died and Stuart Adamson, I sad quiet most of the night and had a few whiskies and played their music. I just dont understand why folk take to the streets as if they were demonstrating against the persons death.
Take allsorts in this world I suppose.

Well, looks like whackos surgeon can finally get a day off now.

Ken

p.s. Sorry for the bad joke to any whacho fans, I have a sick sense of humour sometimes

Lol, I agree. I've never understood fandom. I mean, your chances of meeting these "Celebrities" is zero...why go gaga over them like they're your best friend?

Makes no sense to me either...

What kind of guitar tech doesn't immediately feel the difference between ultralights and lights?  I don't buy that Ernie Ball mixed them up excuse for a second.  Someone afraid to admit his own mistake (probably moreso to himself than to you) and making up excuses.  Not the first time in the history of the world something like that has happened.

True, very true.
I'm willing to let it go.

I kick myself more for not doing the work myself. Could have avoided all this and gone to the movies too with the money I saved.
