Richard,

those fires are amazingly destructive and difficult to contain.

I am so glad you and your family are safe.

Jeff
Thank you for those kind words.

Phill

Thank you also - I tried to make that song leave a little mystery as to who the woman is he is referring to.

I wish I had as much musical talent as you have in your left pinkey - its 50x more than i now have.  smile

It's frustrating to be able to write, but not sing or play well enough to do justice to the  lyrics.

Oh well, I enjoyed the writing part enough to keep on keeping on !

Thanks again

Jim

Wrote it for the SOTM - but thought I'd post here as well

Her Voice Again by Jim Kenyon

.

Verse 1

.

[G]I went down to the river, I was feeling kinda down

I [C] couldn’t find no friends, there was, [G]no one around

[G]tried to think of something happy, but [C]nothing came to mind

Then [D] I thought I heard a familiar voice,[C] coming from be[G]hind

.

Verse 2

[G]That voice was and still is, my favorite sound to hear

Sounds [C]just like an angel, whispering [G] softly in my ear

[G]But when I turned to see her face, [C] ya’ know she wasn’t there

So I [D] closed my eyes and saw her, with[C] flowers in her[G] hair

.

Chorus

.

She was saying…

[C]Always remember the sunshine, it will [G]greet you every day

[C]keep a song in your heart, it’ll [G]keep your troubles away

[C]know that through love, you can do [G]anything you try

So [D] take a leap of faith, and don’t let[C] life pass you[G] by

.

Verse 3

[G] The river kept on rollin’, like the years since she’s been gone

The [C]memories come flooding back, as the [G] water rolls along

[G]I watched the water shimmering, like the [C]sparkle in her eyes

but [D ]then her voice begins to whisper, a [C] soft and sweet [G]goodbye

.

chorus

.

She was saying…

[C]Always remember the sunshine, it will [G]greet you every day

[C]keep a song in your heart, it’ll [G]keep your troubles away

[C]know that through love, you can do [G]anything you try

So [D] take a leap of faith, and don’t let[C] life pass you [G] by

here's a song I wrote that has the word broken in it

[G]I was close to bein’ broke, but thought I was just bein' free

Spent [C]my time hoping things could be the [G] way it used to be

[G]torn apart by a broken heart, a pain that can make you cry

Then [D] I hear her voice saying once again, [C]give love another [G] try

.

It was fun to watch you two - well done.

LOL

the only one in this forum that has no ability at all scored 15 for 15 !
I also wear hearing aids

I would trade my score for a 10% gift of the talent
of the people on chordie.

All of you are the bomb, I can't even come close to what you do.
Pretty cool though Peatle

That was fun !

It reminds me of the time my brother held me down and pulled one of my baby teeth

I was screaming and he says - DON'T WORRY YOU GOT MORE.

you can't - I've tried - guitar hits side rails all the time.
I ended up putting a small sofa on my porch instead.

I am hoping to hear this soon.

looks great.

This is the song I wrote for SOTM
finally had a moment to record it.
My singing and playing leave a lot to be desired, but at least you'll get the idea of how it sounds in my head.

I've many a day when I have felt the same way.
Just want to relax and not think about anything.
I liked how you threw in those little harmonic slides between notes.
Nice song Peatle!
