This song is a little homage to a few people or songs that influenced me over the years and maybe a few songs also that I just liked there's plenty in there to pick out . Have fun ,make a list .
Sorry about the voice but its a bit rough at the moment .
Garcias Glasses
Em G D
And we saw the world through Garcias glasses
Em C D
And heard the sound through White Rabbit ears
Em G D
And our clothes were made of rags and tatters
Em C D
And our hearts were full of joy and tears
Em G D
As we ride on that last train to Clarksville
Em C D
Or maybe its the Marakesh express
Em G D
Then we'll drink just one more cup of coffee
Em C D
cos theres no one left here to impress
A Em
And we know ther'll always be tommorrow
A Em
as we ride our horses to the sun
A Em
cos we are the children of the future
C- D Em
and we are ….. the chosen ones
Em G D
And we might stay a while at Hotel Yorba
Em C D
But someday we'll have to move away
Em G D
Then we'll take that short walk on the wild side
Em C D
Before we sit with Otis on the bay
Em G D
And I'll wear my cape made out of sack cloth
Em C D
As I try my best to fly
Em G D
Like a pilgrim you dont notice passing
Em C D
And I tell you that I aint no nice guy
A Em
And we know ther'll always be tommorrow
A Em
as we ride our horses to the sun
A Em
cos we are the children of the future
C- D Em
and we are ….. the chosen ones
Em G D
And I might say I'll meet you after midnight
Em C D
Down by the Riverside Cafe
Em G D
I might bring you a bouquet of dead flowers
Em C D
If you wear your rasperry beret
Em G D
Then we'll live in splendid isolation
Em C D
Close enough to paradise for me
Em G D
Play our songs and bathe in the green river
Em C D
Hear the wind and know we are stone free
A Em
And we know ther'll always be tommorrow
A Em
as we ride our horses to the sun
A Em
cos we are the children of the future
C- D Em
and we are ….. the chosen ones

I must admit I only post stuff on here which has little or no political or rude content as I've always seen it as a family friendly forum .Some of my live performances which can be found on you tube often have content which can cause offense in some instances and to groups of a certain ilk .To which I say I pick and choose venues which are suitable for adult content and always ask the management if what I do is liable to cause offence. As Scott says posting on a forum does date stamp work and back up copy wright. Which can only be a good thing .
As long as I have something to say I will continue to post and actively promote Chordie as I feel it has given plenty to me over the years and I hope it will begin to grow again .

Thanks Peatle it was just the one songbird he has 3 more to play so maybe over the coming weeks I'll get some more plays .You might just be the most distant listener I'll let the show know.I
The original version was from my 2014 album London rain which I made when I came back to the UK for a short break prior to selling the house in Greece. All the songs were written at my sons flat and recorded as if they were a live performance.

I also check in daily but don't always post. There does seem to be a bit of an exodus from theory and I don't understand but we have had a lot of spam over the past few years and I wonder if some of those posts has scared people away.

Another great song Jim , Have you tried a C instead of the Dbm It transitions a bit smoother in my head . Are you strumming or picking the chords ?

Just finished writing this , I haven't had time to record it yet but if you play it with a bit of a marching strum you'll get what I'm aiming for .and probably what it's about .
All comments welcome as usual
Ship of life
A~
A
The heavens opened
Em
And the rains came down
D
The people sheltered
A
or the went to ground
A
From the deluge
Em
they had to hide
D
and every body
A
had to stay in side
A
But we go up
Em
And we go down
A
We ride the waves
D
and turn around
A
Despite the troubles
Em
and the strife
D
we sail the ship
A~
The ship that we call life
A
We had some friends
Em
we lost a few
D
But most survived
A
to see it through
A
We will stand tall
Em
because were strong
D
Here in this place
A
this place where we belong
A
But we go up
Em
And we go down
A
We ride the waves
D
and turn around
A
Despite the troubles
Em
and the strife
D
we sail the ship
A~
The ship that we call life
A
When we make it
Em
to that shore
D
just like the folks
A
who went before
A
We'll know the trip
Em
was worth the price
D
we paid to sail
A
to sail the ship of life
A
And we go up
Em
And we go down
A
We ride the waves
D
and turn around
A
Despite the troubles
Em
and the strife
D
we sail the ship
A
The ship that we call life
x2 or till finished
