Re: finger picking question ? (9 replies, posted in Acoustic)
many new guitarist have a problem with strumming and strumming along with a video helps as you mirror the motion of the person playing, strumming is rhythm, time, beats and accents some can learn this from a book but others need more personal tutoring (guitar teacher) others can pickup the strumming by watching others choose which is best for you, Fingerpicking is different and I learned how by following instructions in a book by Lou Manzi "Fingerpicking" it comes with a CD of each exercise so you can play along with the lesson as you read the notes and it shows which fingers to use on a given note or notes, and tabs are included, you have to start from the beginning and progress slow and keep reviewing back to the first lesson and play as far as you can comfortably and then move to the next and so on,over time you will with practice learn ![]()

Subcommunity? could you please elaborate
Having only used Chordie as a site for Tabs and Chords until recently... and not ever encountering a song that was censored (except perhaps by the person posting) was surprised at the censorship within a subcommunity of the website...

Re: RAP (16 replies, posted in Poems)
The image of rappers and what there saying in there words is abuse, violence, drugs, profanity taken another level is enough for me to form an opinion,I dont like anything about rap music, as to it being poetry it clearly is, it rhymes and has meter and thats where it stops. In the history of music from 1955 to present each succeeding generation has defined there youth and music has reflected there attitudes and lifestyles Whats next?

Re: "SONGS FOR CHORDIE CD'S" (13 replies, posted in Recording)
I am meeting with the head of Trax studios, I have a session Thursday night and later after I get finished with what I can do recording wise I will sit down and discuss this idea and ask if there willing to donate some time for a engineer to master the mp3 tracks what that means is im going to have to have individual tracks of each song and make a separate
CD for each song of each track and feed this data into my br-8 from my CD burner one track at a time on a zip disk and transfer the data to the pro tools board for mastering, these individual tracks will be processed with my Nero CD program so all the voulume is even for each track as the Nero program is on my second computer I may have to plug in my router and put it back on line so I can retreive each track so each song will be one cd,its not complicated and everything is digital so there will be no loss of quality of sound. ![]()

Re: Boss Br 600 (27 replies, posted in Recording)
I did like the airiness kind of feel of the music but the vidio effects were kind of in and out sorta klidascope journey thru the blood stream but overall it was very good it seems like you were going to transistion to something with a beat when the electric guitar started it would have been nice to add the ryhthm and bass at that point keeping the same sound on guitar you startedwith because it was a nice effect, overall a good effort
ok ive done one tune so far on this recorder have a listen let me know what you think,

Re: I Need To Find Some Easy Songs (10 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Hello Biggy and welcome to Chordie looks like theres a lot of good recomendations for easy songs to start with and as your knowledge and ability increases you wil expand your library of songs that you could not play when you started,it just takes a little time thats all good luck with it
Hello everyone. I have been playing guitar for about 4 months now, and have been experimenting with a lot of different music.
Do you guys have any good songs that are at least "slightly" well known and are "slightly" easy to play? I dont care what type of songs, but i would like them to sound nice.
I would try and learn some songs consisting of mainly chords (Like Wish You Were Here), but I also could use some picking songs.
Thanks! Post away with some reccomendations

welcome to Chordie ronacongram lots of good advise given and like bswyes I had two fingers chopped off at the joints in a accident at work they were able to graft one but my little finger never survived the graft but its on my picking hand so I am able to fret any chord but I have to adjust when I type I substitute my 4th for my pinky on the letter p and all the keys its supposed to hit (I touch type) so I know you can overcome this handycap with a little work good luck with it ![]()

all right just to satisfie your curiosity and to prove we are not really a tough bunch post a sign up list in the recording forum and if there is a positive response to this proposal I will support it and offer any assistance needed, the balls in your court
Boy, you're a tough bunch. Look outside the box for a change. This isn't to rate each other, or I can play better than you, Ynaah, ynaah. It would be simply for us to get a sense of where each of us stands so when we talk to each other or teach each other we know at which level to explain our theories.

Re: Scales (4 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
welcome to Chordie Unique to try and answer your questions all songs are played "in the scales" and all melodies are written useing scales and the scale "patterns" you list below are called modes which include the pentatonic (not listed) and these modes are used as the basis for a progression of chords or sometimes only one chord like in chants or sitar music
Anybudy ever have songs that are played in the scales? or have songs that r good to writing melodies to by useing scales?
and how many ppl out there know the scales and the scale patterns "ionina, dorian, phygian, mixolydian, aeolian"?
