to make something like this work it needs separate genres because not everyone plays or likes the same music there would have to be a list for each one and if someone wanted to have themselves rated they would enter there name on the appropriate list like rock, country, folk, techno ect...and then one of the forums would have to host this judging I could do it in the recording forum if enough members were interested in participating and I would suggest a panel of judges and it would be ok for a judge to enter providing he entered in a genre he was not judging something like that, its not exact but suggestions are welcome and I will help judge but I dont want to be the only one
looks like my lottery picks, ah by the way this is the SONG WRITING forum and this is not a song

"looking at his watch"
funny stuff but probably true and Jerry Reed was the king of Mutants I watched several videos of him play and all the backing musicians looked stunned when he really cut loose including Chet Atkins, a gifted man indeed rest his soul.
some very good choices there Zurf, good advise and I'll bet none of them have a "B"
im only bumping this because the number of views was 666 and thats a bad number to stay on,its not that im superstitious but now the number is 667
no we have had our fill of shakeups thank you
I will be back in the studio next Thursday the 15th and transfer the data (22songs from my BR-8) to the pro tools board, when I have a few moments I will bring up the Chordie CD project and see if they are willing to help with mastering and promotion for this charitable cause and if not theres other avenues to explore for help, stay tunned
Zurf I got the hat from the drummer in a band I jammed with last year his name was Otto Day (stage name) he gave me the hat at a party over at his house,we were all havin a few beers and jamming and he said "try this on" and it looked cool so he gave it to me,good guys dont always wear white hats, case in point Al Capone, pretty boy floyd both wore white hats and I am one of the good guys but sometimes I stretch it
Zurf wrote:What I want to know about you Russell is when did you get the awesome black hat? And I had been thinking right along that you were one of the good guys.

Doc jerome will give you an answer im sure but let me try to explain
most fingerpickin is not done in open tunnings altho some of it can be
the best way to play fingerpicking style is by fingerpicking it
drop d is tunning the low E down to D for a fuller sound and strum all 6 strings or fingerpick them
you can tune your guitar to any major or minor chord variation and use a slide or bar all six strings if you choose
Progressions and chord construction are like apples and oranges they are two differen't questions with two differen't answers the 1 4 5 PROGRESSION in F major is F Bb C the 1 4 5 PROGRESSION in the key of G is G C D the F major CHORD is F A C (135) the G MAJOR chord is G B D(135) a major chord in any key is always the 1st 3rd and 5th steps or intervals of that key, dont confuse a major chord construction with a Progression a progression is a group of CHORDS a chords construction is a group of NOTES
Wondewall7 is it really necessary to post this same "check out me topic" 6 or 7 times in several forums?
seems like this is the same post but a differnt topic but anyway the song you are asking chords for was originally composed and sung by Gary Morris heres the link to the words and chords

Matelot welcome to Chordie I must have missed your post but regarding your question below
Clarification - generally a chord is made up of the root, 3rd and 5th notes of that particular scale e.g. key C is C, E and G. The usual chord progression in e.g. key C are chords built on the root C (I), F (IV) and G (V), so that F will be FAC, and G will be GBD. Have I got that correct?
No if your speaking of a progressing in the key of F eg. 1 4 5 the chords would be F Bb C not F A C and in the key of G it is G C D not G B D
all your doing is adding the 5th of the C chord (G) as the root 332010 is G C E G C E you could also note this as C/G , you said earlier you were hitting the top string without meaning to I just pointed out that its ok to hit it because its part of the chord
evsynator wrote:I dont understand whats being said here about the C chord ... as the chord as i know it is played with all the strings and none missed out ie .. 332010 or Have i got it wrong ?...
Thanks for the laugh Zurf and by the way try playing a A chord (2nd fret open A) with your fingers this way 1st finger on the 3rd string 2nd fret 2nd finger on the 4th string 2nd fret and the 3rd finger on the 2nd string 2nd fret just for the heck of it
great! nothing like good old honest loathing the lyrics tell it all, as the saying go's "all's fair in love and war" well written
