lol you noticed that too! I thought I was seeing double lol I think its because some folks just want to be noticed and rewording a previous post and submitting as there own is one way smile

Russ - I've gotta mention this pet peeve of mine. Why do folks unnecessarily quote the topic when it's obvious what your post is responding to? It especially bugs me when the 1st responder quotes the original post that is right above the response.

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. In the grand scheme of things it's no big deal.

Hi I would like to say hello and thanks already for all the advice that exists on the site which has been of great help.                                 I am a complete beginner and started playing the most basic tabs i could get my hands on,ie one finger on one string at a time.I figured if I could hear some semblance of a tune it would encourage me to keep at it, and so far so good, the house now swings to banks of the ohio, star spangled banner, silent night etc, the wife and kids are demented                                                                                   My problem is that when i go looking for new tunes to practice they are nearly always given in chords - even those songs that you wizards term basic are beyond me at present, I'm aware the site is called chordie but just wanted to know are there any other popular songs out there  that can be played one string at a time and how do I find them.
I'm getting the hang of finger placement for the basic chords[except F] but am a long way from getting them together into something recognisable so until i make more progress its on we go with smoke on the water.
Twang on!

Thank you Helena and yes I did notice the same thing, and 6 minutes to download a file is a long time it may have to do with the speed of your provider and your computer im running road runner with a vista other then mediafire there are other options like google gmail and you send it and I think there is a setting to delete cookies on the tools menu for your browser also smile

Hi Russell,

Loved "Good Bye lenny. Great sound.

The Gremlins one ? Nah!. It reminded me of the M50 trolls we have on a radio station here..

It took 6 minutes to download a file on media fire ? Does this happen with everyone i wonder?. Then i have to run all anti virus scans to wipe away all the other c### it brings with it! Its a pity but i find this puts me off going there. Anyone else have the same problem? with media fire ?

Your one busy man Sir.

A kilt has no pockets so a sporran is the (often furry) bag that a Scot wears around his waist to keep his loose change and ciggies in.

Here check this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sporran

Sorry, got excited when I saw the picture, I didn't realize this was connected with the networking thing! I probably should have read the threads above it I guess.
This clears things up some anyway, I was wondering why this was in the Recording forum.

I need to get more "social" with my playing and join a few real jam sessions before I offer my services for recording.

You can delete the useless post if you want, I will pay more attention next time.

Welcome to chordie thefirstone, this is a frequently asked question and it has been addressed in other threads (posts) the / chord means that the letter to the left of the slash is the chord and the letter to the right is the lowest note played in the chord so a C/D is a C chord with a D root the other chord C/add is a chord with an interval added like a C/add9 and the 9 in the key of C is a D or 2nd because the C scale is C D E F G A B C and it starts over now D is the 9th E is the 10th F is the 11th ect... so a C/add 9 is a C chord with a D added or the minor 2nd smile

thefirstone wrote:

I am an advanced beginnger and there are some things...chord indicators.....which I do not understand...like what does it mean when there is a "C/D" or D/add.  There are other "instructions" I do not understand is there an table of contents or something like that?

Theres a software program (trial, but no watermark just a beg screen when the program is opened and at the end of the task) its called "Any Video Converter" and its fast and converts to any video format, the download is a trial version and its under 30 dollars to purchase when I last checked I have used it for over 2 months and it works great you just have to click "no thanks" when asked to upgrade to pro but the more I use it I have to wonder how much better the pro version is some day I will google up the download page and read the specs on the upgrade and see how many features are added to convince me to buy it,but for the time being I will keep useing the trial version and keep clicking "no thanks"when promted to upgrade smile
