Thanks Butch! I was thinking about making one of these (but had no idea), so you saved me from asking the question! I presume that the pickup is a piezo type - can you recommend any make/model?

Just wondering if anyone on here has any experience of fitting one of these? There are 3 transducers to be superglued under the saddle - I have all the instructions, but am a little nervous about actually doing it, so any tips would be mucho appreciated. I bought this in the States back in July and have still not got round to fitting it, much to my shame!
Cheerrsss!

That's a good question, Wayne! I have often asked myself the same question whilst sitting in the car outside a pub, trying to steel myself to go in and play... A couple of reasons, I suppose - I think that it is a great incentive to improve my playing and learn new songs. I am also seeing a lot of other people play, which is always interesting and gives me ideas for songs or styles that I might try. This sometimes backfires, when I see someone so brilliant that I just want to give up! But not that often. In everyday life, it's not too often that you get a round of applause (polite or otherwise), or even a handshake or a "well done!". It's certainly a great feeling when you really nail a song, too! But I got a bit weary of playing noisy pubs, where no-one was really listening. I just play one pub now, every two weeks, because the open-mic is run by a friend of mine and I like to support him. It's usually a good atmosphere too. But you can't really beat a campfire!

Piano, for sure. So many pubs around here have an old piano in the corner - I would quite like to be one of those cool guys who can just sit down and bash out a tune. Have always liked the idea of drumming, too, but just not practical in terms of space/noise. That reminds me - must look into getting a Cajon! Drummers always seem to be in demand - well, good ones, anyway...

Nice thread, Pix! Some great pics here, too - must get mine on. Perhaps Amy could post a few from the July Jam?

Yeah, why not? I'm up for a Jam pretty much anywhere!

Yes indeed - it would have been an excellent campfire song. And you even had harmonicas with you! Maybe next time... ; )

Agreed - Chordie is just brilliant! Thanks to this site, and the wonderful hospitality of Zurf, I had the best holiday ever to the July Jam on the Shenandoah! It was just so great to meet all those lovely people, Chordians or not...

Hope your arm is healing OK, Pix! You are always so incredibly busy - don't know how you find the time! I'm just working on "Go your own way" (Fleetwood Mac), America (Paul Simon) and "Heart Of Gold" (You Know Who) - with harmonica part. The choir that I sing with is also working on these three songs - it's quite useful to be able to play these as we only meet up with our teacher every two weeks now...

That's funny! And I can just "hear" her saying it, too...

Welcome to Chordie! I would suggest that you have a look at each other's music collection, or just discuss your favourite artists and find the common ground. I'm sure you will soon come up with some music that you both really like and can work on with enthusiasm. If a song is not really working for you, put it aside for later and try something else. I'm assuming that you are playing for yourselves, rather than with a view to gigging. But there are very few songs you can't do with guitar & keyboard! And as joeyx3 says, they don't have to be carbon copies...

Have just learnt "Under African Skies" by Paul Simon (from the Graceland album). Simple repeating chord pattern (CFCG), but the African type rhythm is a bit tricky. Played it at last open-mic. Also learning "Heard it through the grapevine", "Come Together" (Beatles) and "Substitute" (Who). Actually, am only learning Substitute because another regular at the Open-mic has now "retired" - he always used to play it! And because I like it of course...
May actually get to play some stuff with another guy! Adam, who runs the O/M is coming round next week to work on some stuff. Must work on the solo to "Something" (Beatles), would be pretty cool to do that...
Also got to play at someone's BBQ recently, which was nice!
Cheers!
