Hi All,

I just wanted to thank you all so much for your kind words, they are much appreciated. We have her funeral set for Thursday, were hoping for decent weather. My Mother-in Law put up the good fight, this is actually the second time she's fought cancer, and beat it the first time, but it was just to much this time around. Again all your prayers, thoughts, sentiments and words are so appreciated, it really touched my Wife that you all cared so much, she loves you guys as much as I do, thanks so much.

hi everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone know that my Wife's Mother passed away today. Some of you may remember that I had mentioned she had cancer. This morning at 10:45 she passed, no more suffering no more pain. It's eye opening to sit bedside watching someone suffer and then to pass away. I'm not sure what else to say, I just felt like I needed to share this with my Chordie Family.

TopDown,

I actually had never seen no more than a couple of snipett's of the show before either. Since this one was just up the road from me, I had to watch  it though. I'm familar with the school she teache's at and the community they live in. It's called Hedricks Grove and it was a builder who lives in that community that helped with the building. It's just down the road from the Bob Timberlake Gallery, if your familar with him.

Just thought I mention that the show Extreme Makeover re-did a home for a family just up the road from me, it comes on ABC tonight at 8:00 PM est
For anyone who's not familar with the show, this group of people come in and re-do someone who is deserving or down on their luck home. The house is on the same road that we live on, about 5 miles from me.

Hi Bass,

I ran up on him about a year ago, and I loved his covers, very good young talent and I hope he does well, and yes he is well worth a listen. He even covers a couple of Jackson Brown's song who is one of my favorites.

Hi Everyone,

Some of you may remember that a while back I had posted about a movie that my Wife's Uncle in law had made, a movie about the early days of racing and hauling moonshine out of the hills of North Carolina. Well they now have a video on Youtube that you can watch and listen to.They have  an up and coming country music singer by the name of Matt Dillion who is doing the song. We've been invited to Winston Salem NC to a place called June and Johnny's to see him play it live and meet him. I hope we get to go, though with my Mother-in Law's health it might be tough, but were hoping we can make it. I'll let everyone know how it went if we get to go.

The Guy sitting at the barrel drinking moonshine "the one without the hat" is my wife's Uncle in Law Gary Lewallen. The movie is based on his Dad's life as a race car driver who ran moonshine and him meeting the woman "Carrie" that he marry's and the struggle between racing and his family the movie has not been distrubited yet but soon it should be.

Anyway here's a link to the video on Youtube, let me know what you think.

Hi MeKidsMom,

Thanks so much for your thoughts, that was very sweet, again it just re-affirms the kind of people who visit this site. It dosen't look good that I'll be able to meet with Pix and Topdown, though I really wish I could, I need the break, but I need more to be by my Wife's side for however long it takes. I haven'y hardly even picked up my guitars since my Mother-in Law has been put in the Hospital, she's been moved now to a Hospice Home because we need help with her, more help than we can give her at home, it's a very nice place, great room, with a view of landscaped yards, a balcony, it's almost like a resort, very very nice. Again thanks to everyone for your kind thoughts, it's much appreciated.

Pix, I never mean't to hijack your thread,I know your excited about the Yari, and I wish you long years of enjoyment playing it, please let us know how it sounds and how much fun you and Topdown have if your able to get together.

Cam

Thank you Old Doll"

It touched my wife as well as myself that you cared enough to do that, it means so much to us. It's just another thing I love about Chordie, the people in this musical family are some of the best in the world, thanks again Old Doll, and may the sun always shine on your face!

Cam

Thanks Top,

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your offer, it means alot to me.I 've been so tied up with this for over two weeks now and I'm pretty much dead on my feet. I've not even had much of a chance to pick up my guitar in that two weeks except to go to my lessons, but not able to squeeze in time to pratice, I'm thinking od seeing if I can postpone my lessons for awhile until I have more time.

We are at the cancer center in High Point, next to the High Point Regional Hospital, I'm not sure how much longer we'll be here, we'll have to make other arrangements at some point. My Wife ask me to Thank you Jeff for your offer and that it was very sweet of you. We'll keep you informed and hopefully see you and Pix if I can work it out, thanks so much! Congrats again to Pix on the much prized Yari.

  Cam

Oh by the way  Pix, congratulations on the Yari, I'm sure you'll love it.

Cam

Hey Guys,

I'm at the Hospital right now as I read this, I haven't been online in several days, but I finally thought to bring my laptop with me this time. As some of you might remember me mentioning that my Mother in Law has terminal cancer and my Wife and I are spending most nights here with her at the hospital with very few breaks it's been really hard. Anyway things are kinda day to day so it's hard to make plans just now, however if time allows and I can, I'd love to meet up with you guys and hang out for a little while, I could certainly use the much needed break, thanks for including me and hopefully things will work out.

Just by coincedence Zurf, I read in your post about Winchester, then a little light went off in my head and I asked my friend wasn't that where he used to live, I mentioned the Costco, and he started naming off places near it so I just thought it would be fun to post it, thinking you would wonder how I knew all that, hope it didn't scare you, or that it was to wierd!

Hi Zurf,

That Costco, is that the one next to Gabriel Bro's and close to Golden Corral steak house and across the street from another steak house on Patsy Cline Hwy or Hwy 522?

Actually the reason I knew this is because a friend of mine is here at my home who lived there some time back, and when I read Winchester in your post I remembered he use to live there.

Sorry I don't mean to hijack Wolfman's thread.

Hi Everyone,

Well I'm back from my first lesson and things went fine. It was kinda like Nela said, it was more of an interview than anything else, I told him what I liked, what I hoped to learn, and what I wanted to get out of it. It started with him asking what I hoped to get out of it and what direction I wanted to go, so I took that as a good start. He even knew some John Prine songs so that was great. He also knew of Chordie so that was another plus. I told him I was sure I had a boat load of bad habits from trying to learn on my own so he had me run few a few things and told me that I needed to keep my elbow futher away from my side for one thing, that would allow me to get an F barre chord easier and to work on keeping my thumb in one place for the chords I was hitting. I told him I had gotted lazy with my A chord and was not getting a good clean sound from it, I use to hit it clean but I guess I'm not anymore, anyway he showed me how to get it with two fingers instead of three, or as some people do with one. So it's on to next week and we'll see how that goes. I really appreciate everyone's well wishes, thanks so much.

Hi Bill,

I'm sure others like me have been wondering how you were doing.I'm glad your back posting and that you have your meds back on track. I think having the ability to sing and play is good therapy, try to do as much as that as posibble and keep posting to let us know how your doing.

Hi Everyone,

I had mentioned in another post that my Wife had paid for me to get 6 months of lessons for Christmas. I start those lessons tonight, I'm really excited about it and ready to go. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the things I should mention to my instructor as to what I am hoping to learn as far as the type of music I'm interested in. I hoping to learn things along the lines of John Prine and related artists. I need help as far as bass runs go. I hoping to learn how to move up and down the neck of the guitar, maybe different strumming patterns, as I've kinda got stuck on songs that use only a couple of them. So if anyone has any suggestions on anything I's really appreciate it.

Hi Wayne,

Just wanted you to know that your package arrived and I especially wanted you to know how much I appreciated it. The thumb picks were something I hadn't bought yet for myself but had been wanting some to try. The scale sheets will come in handy as well, that-along with the backing tracks and I loved the Martin Logo on the wood. Thanks again for sending them they are much appreciated and will be very useful. It's great having such good friends on here, where we all have music as a common intrest that ties us all together.
