Jody- Thanks, I been doing well! just a little busy for chordie lol
It's not exactly a love song though... see what KAP54 said haha

KAP- you hit it right on the head, not many people who have heard this understood that idea of a man looking down on us. Thanks for reassuring me that it makes sense smile

This song was written a little while ago after I came home from a friends house on my bike, I looked at the moon, and the first line of the song ran through my head.

E7                                                Amaj7- A7
The Man in the moon looks worried tonight
D7                                                        Gmaj7-G7
He can see further than me, maybe he's right
And it's a smile that still rings sad
that covers up what I was smiling at

CHORUS
             E7
Can you see the shadows
Amaj7 A7
of who we are?
D7                                  Gmaj7 G7
A lonely nation under the stars
             E7
Can you feel the rhythm
Amaj7 A7
of what is right?
D7                        Gmaj7 G7
Singing a sad song tonight

It was a peaceful quiet that almost hurt
You were the flame and the fireworks
Am I picking up pieces of broken glass?
or just loneliness that could never last?

Chorus

ENDING-
You can turn a sad smile right side up
you can change a story with a little love
give me a song and a rising balloon
and I'll send a smile to the man in the moon

I would definitely go with personal lessons. Anytime. That way you actually have accountability for practice, you are driven more to succeed, and it's a lot less boring. 30$ a lesson seems a little steep, if it's half hour.  I take lessons with a extremely accomplished teacher for $25 half hour.

Yeah I'm not sure. I've never heard the song, and there are a lot of songwriting titles duplicated... I think I'll probably leave it. Cuz I love the title.

I would love to record this, and I will, but not yet. I need some good equipment, which is coming....

Thanks a lot though.

This is the first song I've written using jazzish chords, it was kinda fun, breath of fresh air. The progression stays the same

Heartbeat

Dm7         A7              Cmaj7     Cmaj6
There is a song written in the stars
A story of the secrets of who we are
I tried to reach to pull it close
but it said to wait till the sun comes homes
If it all made sense in a broken mind
what would be left to better us?
How can we sing the sacred songs
before we've learned to really love

CHORUS
Dm7   A7         Cmaj7 Cmaj6
I can feel it go down
           Dm7               A7                  Cmaj7           Cmaj6
like the heartbeat that bleeds out the happiness I've found
It's the promise of a story that's waiting to be told
It's the call to be listening when the heavens unfold

It's the wish of every honest soul
to read between the lines and feel the warmth in aching cold
to live life without the fear of losing your heart
but it's the cold reality that makes it all so hard
Did I lose my breath in this river of sun?
or is this a story that's only mean to be begun?

ok I was just watching Crystal Bowersox on the top 11, and MILEY CYRUS was giving her advice! Miley can't sing half of what Crystal can. What a disney joke

I agree with you guys, but a guy like Adam Lambert is an exception. He's got an INCREDIBLE set of vocals, better that 98% percent of recording artists today. However, I that doesn't mean I like him tongue No glam rockers for me.
It's interesting, but relatively untalented.

Hey guys
I'm probably getting some pickups installed soon, question is what kind.
I've got a pretty good axe, a Guild GAD 25. Two options the guy recommended were L.R Baggs or Fishman, those were the ones they had.  Any recommendations? What kind are best, what style...
also any ideas on good acoustic amps? That's gonna follow.
I am a pretty advanced player who knows nothing about electronics, always been acoustic.

Thanks guys! Chordie is the bomb.

lol I like this thread, kinda cracks me up.

Hows this for a hard chord, came across it while learning Romance by pagganini

e-8
b-5
c-5
d-5
a-7
e-8

It's like a G chord form, only you get to bar with your first finger what the nut usually takes care of. It's brutal, cuz the song wants all 6 clean at once. That's the hardest chord I've ever learned, I've nailed it now though.

I wrote this song last night and this morning, a idea that stayed overnight.

The progression runs G-D- Em- C, each progression for two lines.

Are you the wind/ Are you for real/
Are you the hurricane in my heart that I feel

Is this the time/ Is this the place
Is this the love story I could never erase/

CHORUS
I was waiting/ for the winds to blow
So you and me could ride the waves
I was waiting/ for the lights to glow
So you and me could see what we had saved

So this is how/ the story goes/
when a heart is just too broken to know/

This is the song/ the stars will sing/
As they watch you wish away your everything

Chorus

Bridge-
I gave it all away to you
But I gave it all away for me
I threw my flowers to the open sky
and now they're floating in the open sea

Chorus

Sounds like a real classical guitar to me, if you file the action, you'll get less classical, but that's maybe what you want. High action is typical.
D'addarios are the best strings for classical, and personally, I love composites. Been playing hardcore classical for the last two or 3 years, and that's all i'll use. But whatever floats your bot, or sings your songs...  lol

Love em! Can't wait to see the mens halfpipe and ski cross, downhill sports are awesome! Though my snowboarding doesn't really get along with my guitar playing. Last year i broke a finger and couldn't play for like 3 months. lol

Hmm. I heard from one of my teachers that they had like 100$ worth of sound, so I might check it out.

Hey guys!

Just wondering if anybody has had any experiences with bone saddles or nuts... sure some of you have. Do you like them? I'm thinking of putting one in my Almansa 457 classical, maybe if I like it my Guild. Would I have to get them shaped? I know I could do it at my music store, but there's a big wait for that and I take lessons. Should I try it myself? I know it's easy to put it in, but would I have to shape it or could I get it preshaped? I'm not gonna shape it myself. Any thoughts or opinions?

Thanks, Mark

That's freakin incredible!!! I love that song! I personally think that is electric guitar style at its BEST, kicks any classic rock, or headbangin hard rock, or anything. I LOVE that style!

I play this with a C- Am - F- G progression.
It's about me and Jesus

I'm gonna build a road for me
and ride it to paradise
I'm gonna make a name for me
and see it written across the skies

I'm gonna write a legend
of a man who built his world with his own two hands
I'm gonna be the legend
engraved across the time and sands

CHORUS
This is who I am
This is who I am
Trying to leave my fingerprints
on my destiny
This is who I am
This is who I am
Trying to understand
what it means to be me

I'm gonna write a symphony
and tell the stars to sing it back to me
Watch as the world goes on below
wonder if they know

but nobody could ride my road to paradise
nobody could read a legend in my stormy sky
I lived my life to make my stories true
but did I leave anything behind for you?

Chorus 2
Is this who I am?
Is this who I am?
Trying to leave my fingerprints
on my destiny
Is this who I am?
Is this who I am?
Trying to understand
what it means to be me

Maybe I should write another symphony
write to the one who wrote my destiny
Maybe I should tell another legend
A legend about Your eternal truth

Chorus 3
This is who I am
This is who I am
Wipe away my fingerprints
from my destiny
This is who I am
This is who I am
I think I understand
How to worship You

Wow skilled songwriting right there. It's good, it's sad, and it's got the element of artistic poetry that I like, and rarely see.

good job.....

Actually, I play it with Eb, Ab and Bb on piano, but I raise it a semitone on guitar. I play the chords differently that the usual B bar chords. These are how I play them, try it out, it's a cool sounding form.

E----B----A

0----0----0
0----0----0
9----8----6
9----9----7
7----9----7
0----7----5

Gives it a nice open feel, and I throw in some improv licks in with it, working with the two open strings.

This is a song I wrote on the piano this morning, simple, but the music tries to make it more potent. It's a guitar song too.

E                             A
The snowflakes are falling
E                                            B
they can make a heart grow so cold
E                            A
the beauty is calling me
E                                            B
but I can never love when I'm alone

Wondering what it was I said
Wondering what turned the white to red
Wondering why I can see so far
but I can't see into the mystery that we are

CHORUS
E                                     A
Come back, come back to me
E                                                          B
I'm telling you, telling you, come back and see x2
A                                  B
I never really knew just why
A                                             B
but nobody will ever say that I didn't try

I'm standing here alone
watching as my world fades to white instead
But I'm starting to think that I was wrong
Cuz, I like the color red

Maybe I'm a blind fool
or maybe I'm insane
but maybe the red was just bleeding love
flowing through human veins

2nd CHORUS

Come back, come back to me
I'm telling you, telling you, come back and see
Maybe I'll never really know why
but nobody will ever say that I didn't try

ending-
I promise you, promise me,
you meant everything you said
Promise me, and I'll promise you
I'll love you red
