well, the majority of horror movies are so stupid that they're funny. and the gore movies, well its hard to explain. Its kind of like roller coasters, why would you enjoy getting sick and scared? Nobody knows, but they do.

Well in America we do trick or treat, meaning literally 'give me candy or I'll play a trick on you', after about the fourth grade they lose interest in the treat and focus mainly on the trick.
The 'trick' means they either throw raw eggs at your house, or they wrap your house, car, or front yard trees in toilet paper. And trailer park children in America are known for thier mischeviousness, maybe because of the convenient oppurtunity...
They don't do 'wrapping' (or 'toliet papering') where you live?

Re: How do tabs work??? (3 replies, posted in Acoustic)
tab is written out like this:
l--------------------------------------------------
l------------------------------------------------
l----------------0---------------------0---------------
l------------0-------0-------------0------0-----------
l--------0---------------0------0------------0------------
l----0-----------------------0-------------------0------
Read from left to right, the next note you play is the next one to the right regardless of which string its on.
For example the above tab would be played:
E string open, A string open, D string open, G string open, D string open, A string open, E string open.
If two notes are lined up exactly like this:
l----0----
l----0----
l-----------
l-----------
l----------
l------------, you play both of those at once.

I handed out candy to trick or treaters all night last night, came in excited to sit down and enjoy some good ol' fashioned gore/horror movie marathons like are on every year, only to find to my dissapointment that there weren't none!
what IS this world coming to????
I noticed some little hispanic kids dressed up as soldiers.... and I couldn't help but wonder if that was some kind of statement. I mean are american soldiers supposed to frighten small children? Or maybe halloween costumes aren't supposed to be scary anymore.

the fat painter.... just gotta say I love that screen name, it makes me laugh. Chordie's awesome, lots of fellow musicians who are glad to help and give advice, lots of different styles here also. May I ask, what kind of music do you like?
Oh by the way south paw, I think that movie's called Office Space???? Ive seen it twice on TV, but I always come in a few minutes after it starts (dang this cable TV)...
That guy reminds me of a guy who goes to our church, kind of a nerdy but very likable fellow. He told me one time, 'I don't see why the airports are stressing out so much over nail files and cell phones, I could bring a water bottle full of clear liquid that wouldn't set off any sensors and blow up the whole airport..."
I try to stay on his good side lol

So, I guess we will all be pickin' imaginary flowers? The original incident with Johnny Cash happened in May of 1965 - lots of flowers to be picked any time day or night at that time of year.
Have yall heard the song he wrote about that? Its called starkville city jail. Funny stuff..... Johnny Cash was always cool, but he seemed to me to get cooler as he got older. (Of course Folsom Prison Blues can't be beat).
I bought a Johhny Cash CD that has quotes from famous people telling him happy birthday, I was surprised to see stuff from slipknot and metallica, but come to find out he knew and liked a lot of those guys.
Coincidentally Kid Rock has a signed American highway Record that says 'From a Fan, Johnny Cash'. (Saw him on tv showing his house, and of course my eyes went straight to the records and guitars lol)

Re: My Song (Stays the Same) FINISHED VERSION (5 replies, posted in Songwriting)
porter wagoner sang 'the green green grass of home', which is one of my favorite songs. I'm not a huge fan, but I like some of his music. I like that song he's doing on that link too... If I'm not mistaken someone else sang it first, (but then that always seems the case with country songs lol) It was lung cancer wasn't it?
Always a shame to see a grand ole opry legend pass away....
By the way I found that on the chorus you can substitute a Cadd9 where that last C goes and it makes the vocal climb a little easier (for me anyhow).

Maybe some of you remember me doing this one a while back, but now I've got chords and I added a line here and there to make it come together structurally speaking.... so anyway here it is. The chords DO work, but I hope yall can catch on to the tune with them, I know it looks a little crazy.... If you can't get the chords to work out I'd still appreciate comments on the lyrics, cuz if noody sees any major problems I'm gonna call this one finished.
Chordpro error: This is not a valid artistname. You will have to specify an artistname in the form {st: Artistname} in the beginning of the code.
I like to go into a medley of songs here, I play thru the Free Bird chord sequence and play that over to country boy can survive, and when I get to the G the second time I do the Dixie anthem and fade out.... but yall aint gotta try that lol

Topic: A Bluegrassy song, haven't named it yet (3 replies, posted in Songwriting)
This song had a bluegrass tempo and beat, bounce those bass notes. The chord progression is really what I like about it, the words I'd scribbled down a few nights ago and they fit nicely, but they're almost a neccesary third wheel to the beat and melody. Basically Am, C, G, Am, the whole song except on the chorus....(Wherever you see a comma, that means you hold that word out for two beats instead of one.)
The song is an attempt to capture that eerie feeling you get on cold nights in the country: its almost kind of haunting and superstitious.

Re: tabs-what to do! (5 replies, posted in Electric)
When you put your finger on a fret and pluck the string it produces a certain pitch, or 'note'. When you press down on the fret and push upwards )literally bending it, don't worry it wont break), you change the pitch or 'note', or in other words the sound becomes higher.
The tab notation 3^5, does NOT mean you move your finger from the third fret, it simply means you push the string upwards untill it produces the pitch equal to the one you would get from plucking the string with the finger on fifth fret.
Most string bending occurs on the e,B,and G strings, because they are thinner and easier to bend. Its gonna hurt, but you just have to do it anyway. As you get into the tablature that requires bending the string up and holding it there, you'll need lots of finger strength.
String bending produces a special sound, kind of wha, slightly distorted effect, and you wont get far without learning it. As always practice makes perfect.... try some CCR, and other older bands before they had lots of effects to work with to find string bends.
SO, in conclusion:
String bending = pushing down and pulling upwards on the string NOT lifting the finger, but moving it on the fret board towards the e string.
PUSH DOWN, PULL FORWARDS
... by the way are you the same guy under a differnt screen name??

Re: tabs-what to do! (5 replies, posted in Electric)
Oh ok, sorry about that, guess I should have mentioned that easrlier....
Okay first things first: hammer ons and pull offs.
A 'hammer on' is simply when you pluck the string open, then press your finger down hard and quick enough on one of the frets to produce a slight sound. For instance, 0h3 (or open hammer on third fret), would mean you pluck the string open, then 'hammer' your finger down on the third fret to make that soft wuick little echo.
A 'pull off' is the opposite of a hammer on. You pluck the string then let off of it and let it echo. (example, 3p0 or third fret pull off to open, would mean you hit the string with your finger down on the third fret and release it and let the cho note ring).
Okay next: bending and wiggling....
bending the strings is one of the most important skills in playing lead guitar. Very simply you put your finger down on the string and you push it upwards (or downwards I guess but not as often). in tablature notation 3^5 (or third fret bend up to fifth) means that you play ON THE THIRD FRET, but you bend it to produce the pitch of a fifth fret note.
wiggling is the same thing except you bend it up and down rapidly (~)
hope that helps ![]()

On a Tuesday they (something like 'locked me in') jail
On a Wednesday (uh ok maybe I don't know the words so well, but it ends with 'And on thursday')"

Re: Halloween! (4 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
haha
sounds like a hoot. I love dressin' up crazy ayhow, and halloween's the only time you can buy the good stuff. I was never much for trick or treating (course if you lived where I lived you wouldn't neither). Me and my cousins used to dress up as crazy as we could and 'go to town' (here that means wal mart), cut up a little, make some people laugh, buy up huge sacks of candy and a couple of chainsaw massacre movies, go home and eat and watch till we finally passed out on the couch (or floor).
I remember one year me and courtney did the blues brothers, we used real derby hats, sun shades, black shirts and tucked our hair up behind our ears. We'd take off randomly with a rousing chorus of "I'm a soul man' and Courtney would moonwalk lol
Anyhoo, this year I'm just staying home from church to watch the house (dang thee trailer park kids and thier toilet paper
), Im sposed to sit on the front porch and pass out candy. I found the coolest little stuffed rat guy (kind of looks like the bunny off of monty python only brownish green and nastier)at the mall, so I'm gonna dress up like a prisoner in one of those striped suits and pass out candy.... kind of ironic that we live next to Jefferson penetentiary I guess but whatever...
