I did start again, indeed. I found a song back, one I wrote tears ago, but still in an instrumental phase, no lyrics.
I don't know if I will write lyrics, I recorded it on 2 tracks of my BOSS BR 600, and I added a second guitar part on another 2 tracks, with some delay. I used 4 guitars: a Telecaster 1952 reissue, a PRS 24 Custom, a Gibson LP supreme and a Duesenberg. THERE IS NO BETTER GUITAR THAN THAT DUESENBERG very strange.
I played it without any effect, except for the following tracks, I CAN'T POST IT ON THE INTERNET.
I have a PX4D effect = a package of cigarettes, but the PX5D has an usb + ableton light software.

Au contraire Doug, I'd expect guitar pickups on a bass to be weak giving a woofy growl not  nice defined notes.

Bass pickups on a guitar will create lots of drag, the magnets in them will 'hold' the guitar strings damping down the notes. What note you do get will be at a high level so will overdrive very quickly.

Remember also that alot of basses are active so you already have +10-15db of signal over a regular guitar anyway.

like wearing your shoes on the wrong foot smile

Russ, bass pickups respond to all frequencies just as guitar pickups do it's just that guitar amps hugely boost the mid-range. The bass notes you hear have lots of components you'd think of as guitar range, if you get a bass amp with a graphic equalizer you can play with this. Cut everything except bass frequencies and you've got a dull thudding, only allow the treble and you've got a bright 'Duane Eddy' sorta twang. Bass amps cover all frequencies evenly like a hi-fi but if you connect a regular guitar to them it'll sound thin and wiry, also the bass amp inputs are often trying to detect passive/active levels which could be another reason for Dino's bad sound.

that would be funny lol

I agree with both the above answers,we once hooked my strat too a bass amp,It was not comunicating well at all. I would like too find a vette like that russell,so I could race it against my bicyle and win.

well if you can hum the melody thats in your head just fish around for the chords that sound good to your ear smile

I would think bass pickups respond to lower frequencies and if you put them on a guitar the g,b and e strings would not vibrate long enough to be amplified loud enough same with guitar pickups on a bass the lower frequencies would not sustain, its kinda like putting a lawn mower engine in a corvette smile

I saw one land in a farm field when I was 25 years old thats 41 yrs ago and the event is still clear in my mind,I was up north of greenbay wisconsin hunting with two members of the band i was in and we were on our way home it was early morning around 12:45 am I was in the passengers seat when a very large and bright object just flew across the highway in front of us I would estamate its size as big as a football field and moving so slow you could make out details below the craft there were a series of rotating lights all the colors of the rainbow rotating around the object and it made absolutly no sound as it slid across the highway and landed in a farm field and then the cars engine died and we coasted to a stop the object was about a 1/4 of a mile to the left of us just sitting there we were more excited then scared so being the trail blazer I said "lets check this out" and went back to the trunk of the car and got my shotgun and loaded it full as we walked across the highway we were kinda laughing (no we were not stoned or drinking cold sober) I climbed the farm fence and walked to it my friend and I were only less then a 1/8 of a mile away and we were making jokes about them having green hair and thats the last thing I remember I dont know how but we were back at the car and the engine was running the third member of the band never awoke till we came back and no one said a word till we got back we found out from the news that several highway patrol men had seen the same thing as we did and reported it so I definitly believe in extra terrestial life.

Nela thats a great tip! its true necessity is the mother of invention smile just off hand the only tip i can think of at this time is when I change a string I measure to the next post and a tad more and cut the string put in the hole let it stick out about 1/2 inch and bend it in the oppisite direction I turn the peg to tighten and I always make sure the wind is below the bend this helps avoid slipping out of tune after the string stretches and I bend the string toward the center of the headstock so I wont stick my finger with it, hope this helps smile

Dino I think the hot air balloon is quite a unique offer I'm sure it will be a first for them, I'm in my sixties and I have never seen one except for pictures and movies I am afraid to fly even tho I did several times a year earlier in my musical career but I would be tempted to ride one of those so maybe your suggestion is the right choice, when are you seeing them? smile

dino48 wrote:

Thanks russell,I can write but i am mainly a blues person, and tunes like crosby, stills nash and young. Mabe some one can think up something I can use,If not I think the hot air balloon ride will give them a great thrill as they are both in thier eighties.               dino

A song about being grateful for this gift, thats a good suggestion tony and in a few days hmmm it is possible to do, I'll see if I can get a little help with this from some fellow chordians smile

SouthPaw41L wrote:

dino,
I have a suggestion. Use this new gem of a guitar you're gonna be getting and write a song for the folks who're giving it to you. One good deed deserves another and giving someone a 'one-of-a-kind' gift is indeed a good deed. Both parties benefit! Congratulations and good luck.

Roger when I read the chords and played over the song before I listened to it on your website I was inclined to lean toward a john denver kind of style and after hearing it I was more so you captured a feeling and adorned it with words and music and this is what song writing is really about, not just some words that rhyme and chords that will fit very nicely done smile
