daddycool i like the words and the chords,in chopro formating you have to start with the word
song enclosed in  [ ] lower cased brackets this is the "on switch"
title: by you inclosed with  {  } upper case brackets
/song inclosed with [  ] lower case brackets not { } brackets  this is the "off switch"
and you need to type this in simple text hitting the enter key to align each line of the song
wordpad is the best or if your using a word processor "simple text" not "rich text formating give this a try and if i havent explained this well enough Roger Guppy can explain it better he helped me goodluck

have "it" that depends on how you intrepret what "it" is. if you mean the ability to learn fundamentals and develope some degree of expertese in knowing your way around the fretboard thats a learned skill aquried with a lot of practice, but if your definition of "it"is creating a audio work of art that sets you apart from others i think its a gift or a blessing whatever you want to call it there are differen't levels of "it"

MOZART---------very rare! few attain this level only the gifted
above average........ some, those who practice hard and steady over and over
average--------most, like our friend who only practices at class and stores his guitar away till the next class

so yes in my opinion there is a distintion you have it or you dont the "gift" of music is exactly that, a gift from the creator

Hi Lieven,

Nice song about a horrible experience, Well done and keep them coming.

For Russ's benefit I did a minor edit to your song as I too had never heard of C#mmaj9 but checked and found there was such a chord and it made more sense than what was posted so I assumed that is what you intended. If I was wrong let me know and I will change it for you.

I cant argue with leo fender being on the same level as les paul both were inovative giants and there genius has set the standard which is still emulated today

I'm not sure one inventor of the electric guitar will ever be pinned down. What it does confirm is that the 30s and 40s were the golden age of American invention. I'm not sure Gibson qualify just for sticking a pickup on a hollowbody archtop. Les Paul certainly deserves mention as a populariser but his namesake guitar is very traditional in many ways (just solid-bodied). For me Leo Fender is _the man_ because he created so many landmark instruments. Not just the esquire but the telecaster, the stratocaster, the precision bass, the jazz bass, the Music Man Stingray active bass... any one of those five would put him on Les Paul's level but together they make him Mr.Guitar Innovator.

never heard of it and i was there when it started, the first R&R song i ever heard on radio was Rock around the clock period. if some obscure recording was burried in chess records(rocket 88)archives and not released to the public then it is a moot point

it looks ok but i never played a C#mmaj9 if thats supposed to be 2 chords in that measure(C#m and Cm9) you have to separate them and put each in [ ] brackets

this is off the subject( the link to the electric accustic solo) i just thought it was a great video of a very talented guitarist i appologize for straying from the thread. but i still think the disc over the sound hole may be best i use one when i use my amp, when recording i use a microphone

Russell_Harding wrote:

doc to play an electric sccustic with more volume invites feedback problems they make a rubber disk that fits over the sound hole and reduces the feedback allowing you to pump the volume up more

it depends on what you like blues country or classical, for classical you would need a chromatic harp with a button to shift the tone up 1/2 step

Tibernius wrote:

Hmm, maybe I'll get one as well. I've always wanted to be able to play it.

How about if you don't know which key you prefer playing in? Is there one key which has more easy-to-play songs than the others?

seems i was on the right track i just didn't know his name was charlie christian but i recall seeing several pictures of him and his electric hollow body gibson

alexpress wrote:

According to Michael Heatley in his book The illustrated History of the electric Guitar the true beginning of all electric guitars was the Gibson ES-150 played by Charlie Christian in 1935 although attempts at electrification were attempted by Lloyd Loar in the early twenties with the advent of the valve amplifier.

The first production solid body was the Rickenbacker frying pan in 1931.

doc have it your way but i was a teenager when rock n roll started and rock around the clock was my first baptismal into r&r so unless im suffering from amnisia or oldtimers degeneration of brain tissue im right lol

gitaardocphil wrote:

That is ONLY a theory .
IT IS "WIDELY" accepted that "ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK IS THE FIRST ROCKSONG.

NO IT WAS THE FIRST "ROCK COVER"
I DID find that one of the first melodies who earned to be named R&R was and you know that I trie to write as accurate as possible, which is time consuming (Russ, my back is hurting, I am to much online, and I can't move) occupation, well about occupation, I am a professional websurfer, and here I QUOTE:
A man, named Joe Turner aka BIG.JOE TURNER a black blues artists, who sang, “Shake, Rattle, and Roll.  If one listens to this song by Joe Turner it should be very clear that this is the, or one of the, first true rock and roll songs. It sounds like a rock and roll song, not a blues song. The beat is up tempo and the words and rhythm of the song depict the sounds and feelings of a true rock and roll song.
Don't forget, IT WAS STILL the time of SEPARATION, the time of RADIO STATIONS REFUSING TO PLAY "BLACK" music, and the time your parents beating the s**out of you when you came home with a single, performed by a black artist, WASN'T IT SO IN THE 50-ties?
About the mix of BLUES, COUNTRY, GOSPEL, BOOGY WOOGY ( an official music style, piano blues, very popular in the 30-ties), this is indeed the mix for rock.
IKE TURNER IS ALSO A CANDIDATE FOR the first ROCK SONG, he wrote ROCKET 88. These 2 =
“Rocket 88  and “Shake, Rattle, and Roll  were all remade by Bill Haley and the Comets.
If you consider BILL HALEY as the first ROCK & ROLL ARTIST, he is a master in covers.
ELVIS PRESLEY, wasn't he considered as a "Black artist?
"The fact that there were so many cover songs recorded by white artists of black artists’ music was also obvious and depicted the state of America at the time
- LAST POINT = Music producers would hear a recording being made or done by a black artist, find a white artist or group to record that same song, and credit the white artist or group as the original artist(s) of that particular song or songs, without giving any recognition or credit to the black artist who first recorded the song.
SO THIS DISCUSSION IS NOT CLOSED: WHO or WHAT, the first R&R song

doc on the last line after "it felt great you included "to cheat" in the same [ ] (brackets) as the chord, just put the chord before the words"to cheat"in the [ ] and everything should be fine before you :post" click "preview"first and look at what it will be when you submit it and edit the necessary changes and preview again and if your satisfied click"submit"

Liam (I am very nosy, why you choose paranormal? I adore a lot of stuff, called or considered as paranormal. Just think about the DEJA VU phenomenon, being convinced you saw it already but you can place it) and RUSSELL.
Yes, this time I worked different, and I hope that this way of writing a song, is a lot better for me.
In stead of playing a song I have in mind, followed by lyrics and chords AT RANDOM, I try to play guitar AND adding lyrics, BEFORE: 1 line, and placing chords, a second line + chords, I changed my philosophy by playing and singing, writing it down, followed by playing and singing "the entity" in stead of every single line.
Thanks for your "constructive comments". What about the lyrics, are they correct, are they placed in a right sequence? Do you have some suggestions?
Thanks
