LOL - Ken truly is in love mode.
(where's the heart emoticon).
My apologies to my friend Toney and everyone else for contributing to the degradation of this thread into a political discussion. I will endeavor to stay above this type of behavior and leave it to the politicians play in the gutter as they are so accustomed.
Alls fair in love and chordie!

My first song that I learned to play was Paradise by John Prine, although it's my version of his song, hope that counts.

I liken it more to vultures swarming over head , waiting for them to fall. What a sick age we live in. Great poem, Lena. Best I've read yet.

I apologize. I got so totally distracted with the all the wanking about..., I totally forgot their was a song written above.
I particularly like the line ...karma keeps on coming down, very visual for me combined with the preceding lyrics.
I haven't got a clue what your tune is... since we tend to draw on our own experience, I keep hearing Dewey Cox singing Walk Hard, from the movie of the same name Walk Hard. Now there's a real bit o' wankin' about for ya...
Hope to hear your sound file soon..., in the meantime, don't be good be better, and by all means don't forget to keep your excreta together.
Sincerely,
Unh Huh
Yo, it's a family site, dude. Get it together

crevs , sounds like a nice place.
Well selso, I live in Scotland so weather here is mostly always miserable, cold, windy, snowy, sunny, cloudy, more clouds to go over the clouds, rain, hail, sleet and this happens all in one day
not bad weather at the moment, some heavy showers and meant to get snow again on Sunday.I dont know why I have a garden, I should dig it out and make a big fish pond as we get plaenty fresh rain water
Ken
Everything in my garden just died too. We had a couple of nice days, so I planted some bulbs, but that one little cold front killed everything. Iwas thinking of plowing it over to start a pond too. Weve got about a half acre garden so it takes alot of time and effort that I just dont have. We also have an apple and pear orchard so I have to choose which gets my attention

Does the school close beacuse of a little snow in the states?!
I live in Denmark, and here there has to be like 2 metres of snow before school closes.
Yeah, they close the schools when it snows. Sometimes theres just a 2 hour delay but this time they closed them, proubly because everyone wanted to start spring break early.

Re: THE "MY FIRST LOVE" POEM (+ improving my skills) (11 replies, posted in Poems)
Thanks my friends.
I always loved "poetry" but with a strong "attraction" to what they call: 1 minute poems.
They aren't meaningless and I'll never be a great writer like KEROUAC. I am more and more "in love" with my section.
1 little anecdote: on one of my holidays in the USA, I was in a big dining room/bar. They asked me, a lovely waitress, what I wanted to drink and I (convinced to be the funniest guy in the world) asked for a coke, but due to the noise she asked me again what I wanted to drink so I said a little bit louder "A COKE" but please in LIQUID form. Holy .., she couldn't laugh at all. LESSON: I adore the USA, but there is a very big difference with Europe. They talk about the land of the free?!? They are a lot more severe than in Europe. Also queing in Miami Airport, just arrived, and the tip of my shoe, maybe 10 cm was over that line, it took 1 minute to see a police woman pointing with her long "baseball" stick to see in a very rude way: can't you read sir, it says BEHIND the line. I agree with a certain discipline but treating people like that was the last I expected.
Unfortantly, that happens alot in the U.S.A. Were not all bad, some of us just get off being rude. Thats why I love my small town. Sorry that happend to you. Most Americans are just ordinary people trying to get through there day.

Re: Took My picture Off the Wall/ song with recording (7 replies, posted in Songwriting)
hi selso,
just had a listen to this on your web, i liked the words and the tune is [to me] reminiscent of blue grass and cajun music, instead of the guitar i could hear banjo, and a nice fiddle in the background, the song evokes images which in my mind is what a song is meant to do. so keep up the good work.
phill
I could hear a banjo and a fiddle too. That would be sweet, I just got a mandolin and a resonator guitar, so when the slide finally arrives I'll be able to be a little more musical with my stuff. Im still getting use to hearing myself recorded. Sounds way better live
Thanks everyone for taking the time to listen to my little songs.

Re: Stairway To Heaven solo (2 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
One thing I will say is that Jimmy's phrasing is awesome. It is a good solo, but I don't understand why it's ranked #1 of all time. I don't think guitar solos can be ranked; trying to compare a Yngwie Malmsteen solo to a BB King solo or Jimmy Page to SRV is like comparing violins to guitars, they're just not designed for the same thing.
I totally agree

The guy at the shop should have told you the action could be dropped. I think he just thought wou were a novice and didnt want to take the time to inform you. Usually the shop offers to drop the action for free at the time of purchase, so he either thought you were happy with it or just wanted to get you in and out. You did it your self so more power to you. I guess action is a personal perference so maybe he thought it was okay.I dont know, sounds fishy

Its a snow day today. No school for the kids, no work for the dad. Problem being theres not a whole lot of snow on the ground. Did the school district just want to start spring break early? Starts on Monday. Guess theres nothing else to do but play my guitar and watch cartoons. My kids are cleaning the house for me, so theres really nothing to do. What the weather like where you live? Sorry for the rant, I'm just bored!

I'd say the more you learn the better of you are. True if your switching back and forth, you might not get good at one or the other, but it gives you a better overall understanding of music as a whole.
