Ta Rebel, 7) Remember guitars are personal, one person's 'uh-oh' is another person's 'hey wow!'.
8) Remember even within one Brand and one model guitars vary. You may just hit on the guitar that got superior body wood through some fluke...

Keep in mind that a bad sound is one of the easiest ways to get discouraged from playing..... and i've tried several different models and even a couple of different instruments from the walmart first act guitars and i didn't care for any of them.
Besides that the whole company doesn;t even seem to know ANYTHING about the guitar... do you think thier strings come in different guages? NO. Do thier picks come in different thicknesses? NO. Do thier amplifiers have proper distortion and overdrive switches? NO..... tust me these people don;t know anything about the guitar they're just making money off of people. They're more the spoiled rich kids that WANT aguitar cuz its cool but dont have any intention of learning it

I loves me some bluegrass.

I hates me some cappoed chords with the wrong chord markings.  big_smile

If you're cappoed at the 3rd, you're not playing a G.

You're not playing IN G but you are forming a G chord with your fingers. Its actually in like 4 flats so change it if that makes you happy but I can't hit a Gb yet. The main reason i capo it is because i can't sing that low, but you can play it anywhere you want to....

Well my heart and soul belongs to the guitar (*cough* and the Lord of course.....)
but I actually have a mandolin im trying to learn how to play. My brother's been playing around on it too and hes way better than me. That dude can play anything i swear..... Anyway I love the mandolin (or anything country or blugrass, or blues too and if im not mistaken there were some blues singers with mandolins). LoveBill Monroe smile

i like ur signature dude,... charlie daniels wrote that i think.

Thank yall for the compliments... personally i think it had more of a ralph stanley type feel but yeah you could change the rythym up and make it sound like a spiritual, not a bad idea actually i might try that later. big_smile

i guess it depends on what kind of crowd it is....
if its country then just pull out some Hank Williams or Johnny Cash and people oughta respond pretty well... me and my bro and my cousins play for ppl sometimes and 'flushed from the bathroom of your heart' always gets a good reaction lol
if its rock then i'd say there are plenty of good acoustic pieces out there to choose from... Staind's everything  changes is pretty cool, and shed some light on me by shinedown, or even doing some acoustic versions of older stuff like Creedance Clearwater Revival or something....
but like i said it depends on the audience.

Okay i already know what a lot of yall think about christian music, so i don't want to start a debate board i just want to put out this song i wrote last night.....

CAPO 3rd
G
The hand of death
      C              G
is    drawing closer

Soon I must go
                    D
To that far shore
                              G
But please don't weep
             C       G
For me   my  brother

I'm going where
     D           G
I'll cry no more

CHORUS:
            C                 G
I am going over yonder
            C             G
Never more to roam

I am going to be with Jesus
D D7                   G
      I am going home

My road on earth
was full of troubles
Blood and tears
have stained the path
But I am going 'cross the river
To rest my weary soul at last

And though my tears
Could flood a river
And my heart was torn and dry
There is coming a morning
When He shall wipe my final tear from my eye

Bluegrassy rythym... anyway comments/suggestions? big_smile

lol... that was nice. See if all music videos were like that they would make me laugh instead of puke. it was nice because you still had to listen to the song to decide if you liked it or not

howdy and welcome to chordie smile
Just a word of advice, playing the guitar is far more likely to attract women than collecting stamps

hmmm.... well i think its really all in personal preference. When i play an acoustic i like a softER (not too soft) pick cuz of the neat little chicka chicka sound it makes, then if i'm playing lead or an electric i like a tougher one. hitting single strings is easier with a thinner pick, but then its hard to get a lot of sound out of it...

i've got a squire stratocaster that i got a few years ago, personally found it to have a good sound for the money, and it was good to learn on.
Ive played the real cheapo walmart guitars and i would strongly reccomend NOT to go that way, sounds rattly and buzzy and crap.

Okay so you can play this more than one way...
(d equals downstroke, u equals upstroke, x- kind of lightly kill the strings as you come down...)

ACOUSTIC

Yeah anyway electric part might not sound so great without an acoustic back-up. You can play the acoustic tab part instead of the little step ups if you like....
It still needs words so anyway as usual.... comments/suggestions?? big_smile
