Jeff I like these words in your song very clever.

Why does it seem

Some strings like to

Stray a little out

Kind of like me

Phill

There is a lot of music out there. Fighting my way through all  those different genres means I can’t really nowadays call myself a folky a rocker or whatever. One genre I can’t get into when I am at home is disco. There have been times when my brain has been at half mast after a few strong beverages that I have hit the dance floor. Now that is not a pretty sight me dancing even worse is I have been spotted partying and dancing to disco music.

I think people writing songs who are chasing a hit on popular outlets like  radio rely too much on tried and true formulas or get stuck in the trendy commercial thing decided by marketers. That is why I don’t listen to radio much in recent times.

Recently in conversation about music people have been talking about the length of songs many saying two to three minutes should be the max. To me that's like saying I've got a short attention span and can't take any more. I really think that songs length doesn't matter as long as it fits with what it's trying to say. Recently I listened to Bob Dylan's , Murder Most Fowl which I think is a brilliant epilogue to President Kennedys assassination. Many say it is a silly rant that takes too long but to me it tells it well and the length is appropriate. I suppose with Bob you either hate or love him. What do you think. For me Bobs song Murder Most Fowl  is more than just a song about the killing of President Kennedy,  To me it is also a 17 minute piece about the passing of an era and a time in history that many around my age grew up in.

Jeff your song got a lot going for it and you play guitar and sing better than I can. There is a lot of love for a special lady and a special home  environment  that's what makes your song  give of the warm fuzzy's of joy and love in the family nest..

I was thinking or is that finking , finger and thumb could be good rhyming slang for strum.
I was finking about grabbing my arf a dozen string machine and having a finger and thumb. That might confuse things the change of language when ordering a finger and thumb ( Rum) at the bar.

Whenever I start talking about Olives and Olive Oil with some of my friends who are my age or older the conversation has often ended up going to Popeye and Olive Oyl his girlfriend. People then start talking about tins of Spinach something that Popeye  ate to give him strength. I have eaten spinach but I have never seen it in a tin.

Annwyl brawd Piri  you are  right warm olive oil helps.  My in-laws introduced me to it.   The olive itself is rich in vitamin B6 which contribute to the proper function of the nervous system and boost the metabolism. Olives also contain vitamins C, A, and E which all help a variety of functions throughout the body. When I was in Greece staying with my in-laws it took me a while to develop a taste for olives as there are so many different kinds. After a while I found the ones that suited my pallet. Maree’s parents had olive trees and made their own olive oil at home. They also made their own cheese from the milk of goats kept by her step mothers brother in-law. Another thing I liked was they grew their own eating grapes. It was really communal the making of alot of the homemade cooking things. Over summer Maree’s parents kitchen would be full of woman gathering together to make cheese and oil and other things for the whole extended family.

Iechyd da!

Both of my thumbs are the same size. What I have noticed as a right hander is the Osteoarthritis in my left guitar chord changing hand fingers gives me more pain and grief and less pain in my right hand strumming and finger picking movements.

Jim those two opening lines have a magical flow that took me right into your song.
Sitting by the campfire, and my guitar weeps so sad
As I’m dreaming of the soft look that her eyes once had
I can imagine  a man drifting from one place to another his guitar his best friend singing and thinking about how his way of life meant he lost the love of a beautiful lady.
The only change I would make to the first line is I would change the word and to as.
Sitting by the campfire as my guitar weeps so so sad.
Brilliant song you written there tells a good story.

Get Through To You

I have been writing lyrics for many a long year.

I’m just hoping one day my words will get through to you.

I’ve been singing and playing bad since before I can remember.

As I get older my lyrics get happier as the young ones get sad again.

I don’t want to be sad I want to be happy.

I hope my lyrics get through to you.

I hope my lyrics get through to you.

I have been writing songs and words since before time.

These words have been hidden in my mind.

I put them down on paper and I try and sing them to you.

I hope my lyrics get through to you.

I hope my lyrics get through to you.

I just hope one day they get through to you

I have been spending my time trying to play guitar.

Trying to sing my words in a way that sinks in.

I hope my lyrics get through to you.

I hope my lyrics get through to you.

I have been doing this for far too long.

I have been playing my guitar I haven’t been playing it strong.

I’ve written too many meaningless words that haven’t got through.

I hope my lyrics get through to you.

I hope my lyrics get through to you.

Maybe moonlight or a spotlight.

Will shine down on me.

On a darken or brighten stage.

Or in our living room as you turn the page.

I hope my lyrics get through to you.

I hope my lyrics get through to you.

I guess the opposite of Hotpants is Coldpants.? I saw a couple of young ladies wearing Bellbottom jeans the other day I wonder if they are about to come back into fashion. When I have been shown old photos of me long hair and bellbottom trousers I cringe. I now understand why my Grandparents thought I looked ridiculous.

I need to polish up that tune a bit more. Hopefully what I have made so far is a cruisy sound? Mrs Whisky  I think is nesting at the moment as she has been quiet. I suspect Mr and Mrs have bred.  Papa has been swooping around very quietly  keeping an eye on his territory. Junior lets out a song every now and then and Mini just swoops around quietly. Mum and Dad will no doubt kick those two out into the big wide world soon. Maybe I will have the Whisky's vocal services on something musical sometime ahead.
