Topic: MARCH 2022 FSOTM – WELCOME BACK, HELLO, GREETINGS

Hi everyone, looking forward to starting the FSOTM again with you all.

So, for the first FSOTM for MARCH 2022, it seems fitting we do songs involving the words Welcome Back, Hello, Hi, Good To See You, How Have You Been, Greetings or any such song that involves a welcoming back, missed you type vibe to it.

You can do a COVER or an ORIGINAL that you have written.

So … HAVE FUN ...  READY!   SET!   GO!

Awesome Peatle, so glad you made a start on FSOTM and you get extra brownie points for starting us off on it smile  I really enjoyed the originality of it too and the blues.  Great your mate helped you out too with the acoustics.  AWESOME and I APPLAUD you Peatle smile

Nice bit of blues to get it started, well done Pedr and Robert.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

peatle i think your voice was made for the blues
not sure when i will be able to make a contribution my voice is shot from a 6 month running battle with covid symptoms .not that i could sing before lol but right now its out of the question

Thank you Mojo my voice has never been up to much but it seems to handle the blues ok only trouble is when i try and sing happy it sounds sad. I have always enjoyed listening to your singing and playing.

OK, I had a go. I rewrote the lyrics to the Peters and Lee song:

Re: MARCH 2022 FSOTM – WELCOME BACK, HELLO, GREETINGS

Roger, that was a nice surprise tonight to see you had put a song up, loved it.  It had a such a gentle and heartfelt sound to it, I really felt welcomed back listening to it smile

Welcome back Jandle!! It's good to see your icon on the screen!!

I liked your tune Peatle; needed some harmionica on there to complete it (well, like it sounded in my head!!). The good (?) thing about the blues is you don't need a great voice, you just need to feel it - which came through in this recording, crickets and all!!

That was great, it was heartfelt and warm, I'm not sure I know the song, so it sounded like an original to me!!

Looking forward to hearing more - I'm a bit busy this month, so hoping to write a tune for the occasion, but with only 10 days to go, well, let's see how we go!!

Cheers

Re: MARCH 2022 FSOTM – WELCOME BACK, HELLO, GREETINGS

Cheers Richard I look forward to hearing more of your performances on here. I like your comment about needing  a harmonica nothing like a bit of blues harmonica to lift a blues jam.

Re: MARCH 2022 FSOTM – WELCOME BACK, HELLO, GREETINGS

Thanks guys for the encouragement.

Richard the song was originally written in French, translated and recorded by Peters and Lee and spent a week at number one in the UK charts in July 1973 (it was there only number one recording).

Re: MARCH 2022 FSOTM – WELCOME BACK, HELLO, GREETINGS

I'm making progress, so far I've written this song:

Hello Richard Mortimer

intro vamps between -F- and -G-, go to -C- before starting verse

[F]Hello, it's [G]nice to see your [Am]smiling face again

In this [F]crazy world, where[G] people seem so [Em]scary

it's [F]comforting to [G]know you are still [Am]here ....

[F]Hello, I'm [G]glad we are together once [Am]again

I'd [F]like to say the words to you, [G]that I'm never going to [Em]say

and [F]I'd like to say them now, [G]but you know I [Am]won't ....

instr

[D7] [G] [Em] [C] [C] [G]

[F]Hello, I [G]wish we never had to say [Am]goodbye

I [F]know it's near impossible, [G]for that breaks all the [Em]rules

and [F]if we never left, I'd [G]never get to say ...

yes [F]if we never left, I'd [G]never get to say ...

and [F]if we never left, I'd [G]never get to say [Am]'Hello' ....

Wow, the chord pro parser really needs updating ... !

Anyway, will hopefully record it this weekend ...

Cheers

Re: MARCH 2022 FSOTM – WELCOME BACK, HELLO, GREETINGS

So good to see you all on here and commenting and participating smile   Looking forward to hearing your song neophytte.   As for me the song I have been trying to do is failing terribly even when I transpose the chords to try and find chords that suit my voice, so it`s back to the drawing board for me to find another song.

Unfortunately the guy at the house behind us was using his chainsaw all morning, I only managed to get one take, and upon review, my voice wasn't as loud as I'd like it. And running out of time for the end of the month ....

Enjoy!!

Cheers

Richard  with your neighbourhood distractions you did good given that you were preasurised for time to get it done. Good to see your twin brother playing guitar with you on there and hear the  bird in the audience participating.
