Sounds like it starts on F C Bb C(?) then changes keys....try that and see if you can figure out the rest.

Here's the Youtube video if someone wants to figure it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4GwUtBd0DM

You can find it here...A little different format than chordpro. The chords are supposed to follow the youtube video but it looks like the link for the youtube video is gone but the chords are still listed. The title listed is "Wish I Could Write a Love Song". I think that is what you meant, right?

You gonna give us a sample of how she plays? Pretty please?

There are a few ways but using the search feature works the best....you can search for your posts by putting your user name in the author search and your posts and the posts you commented on will come up. Leave all other fields open you will get most of your posts. When you want to narrow the search you can just go by forum but you are still relatively new with 15 posts so I recommend you just search on Author Search for your user name and they all will come up.

Hey Phill - I sure wish I could hit the low notes that Johnny Cash could hit. He is one of my many music heroes. Thanks for the comparison and your comments.

Life Moments By Jeff Gilpin

August 18, 2013

[D]I open my [A]eyes

Wash my [G]face greet the [A]morning

While [D]you are down [A]stairs

Already [G]been up a [A]while

[Bm]I plop down be[G]side you

Share your [Bm]space

Without [G]warning

While [D]you tole[A]rate

Like you always [G]do [D]

[Dm]I want to keep this [Am7]moment

And [Dm]make it last for[Am7]ever

But [Dm]life has a funny [F]way of denying my [A]plans [G]

[D]You’re off to [A]work

[G]No time to dilly [A]dally

While [D]I’d rather [A]spend

Every [G]moment with [A]you

[Bm]I hold you close [G]to me

[Bm]As if I had the [G]power

To [D]keep you for[A]ever

In my [G]arms [D]

[Dm]I want to keep this [Am7]moment

And [Dm]make it last for[Am7]ever

But [Dm]life has a funny [F]way of denying my [A]plans [G]

[D]You’re about out the [A]door

Se[G]lecting your [A]shoes

“Does [D]this go to[A]gether

With [G]what I have [A]on?”

[Bm]The shoes are [G]fine

But [Bm]we’re out of the [G]time

A [D]kiss and a [A]smile

And [G]you’re [D]gone

[Dm]I want to keep this [Am7]moment

And [Dm]make it last for[Am7]ever

But [Dm]life has a funny [F]way of denying my [A]plans [G] [Dsus4] [Dsus2] [D]

I think sixteen tons was done by Tennessee Ernie Ford.

We actually have it listed on chordie by Johnny Cash as well, but I agree, the more popular version was done by Tennessee Ernie Ford.

It is an educational process. Kind of like painting a fence, but sometime the fence is just too dense to paint, so you have to paint it over, and over, and over again. BTW, you are by far chordie's most patient painter.    smile

Thanks Dino...That's kind of what the song is about. Sometimes you can get so busy in life that you inadvertently forget something important you should have remembered, and digging out what you forgot can be a difficult and sometimes impossible chore.

I wrote this late yesterday evening for some reason but it’s not coming to me now. It plays pretty good if you like folky. I will get it up on my soundcloud page so you all can hear soon, that is if I remember. smile

Forgot By Jeff Gilpin

  8/15/2013

I [A]know there was something

That I needed to be [A7]doing

But for the [D]life of me

I can’t remember [A]what

[A]Something important

That much I re[A7]member

But [B7]not so much

That I don’t know [E7]but

I [A7]figure if I just sit here

And [D]think about it for a [D7]spell

I’ll [A7]remember what it [E7]was

I was supposed to be [D7]doing [A7]

So I’m here [D]ruminating

So I’m here [A]contemplating

So I’m here [B7]vegetating

But I’m getting [E]nothing [E7]

It’s [A]not about my wife

Or picking her [A7]something up

And not about [D]work

I leave my work thoughts [A]there

It’s [A]not about the kids

Or they’d have [A7]called by now

It’s not about my [B7]friends

Most of them haven’t got a [E7]care

But I just [A7]can’t for the life of me

Re[D]call just what it [D7]was

[A7]But it was real im[E7]portant

And now I just can’t re[D7]member [A7]

Oh I almost [D]had it

Oh there it [A]isn’t

Not there [B7]either

Well this ain’t [E]working [E7]

[A]So I’ve decided to stop

Trying to remem[A7]ber

Because it’s [D]not helping

And I don’t know what to [A]do

If [A]I try not thinking

About what I for[A7]got

It might [B7]just come to me

Clear out of the [E7]blue

What [A7]time is it any way

I [D]guess I should be heading [D7]home

Who [A7]knows they might [E7]know

At home what I can’t [D7]remember [A7]

Great job Jack. Nice seeing music being passed on to our younger generation. I'm betting Maddie will be able to fly solo by this time next year.

I was just reading through the "Goodby Chordie" posts. For some reason reading all of our "heart felt" goodbyes makes me strangely happy. That got me thinking of all those sarcastic goodbye songs that are out there and I was wondering: What are some of my fellow chordie member's favorite goodbye songs. Here are a few of mine:

The Party's Over - Willie Nelson
Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away) - Motley Crue
Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) -  Green Day

And my final thought for merrillmetzger - I how some where out here in this wide digital jungle of a GA-zillion songs you find peace... or at least one or two songs where the lyrics, chords, and tabs are 100% accurate...and I hope these 100% accurate songs are all songs that you hate. smile

You see the same thing over here with these kids who hit the big time in professional sports and haven't got a clue about making their new found fortune last. In the last few years there have been seminars for all the professional rookies in some of the sports like professional football (the American kind). Usually, they invite some veterans who have learned difficult lessons to pass on to the new pros so they, the new pros, will hopefully learn to do better before bad things happens.

This song also rings true for the service men and women who come home and have difficulty finding employment and may be suffering from injuries or mental illness related to combat. Truly every homeless person in the world has their own sad story and most all would relate to your song here. It is a good song, and I want to hear it of course so let me know when & where you have it up.

Main verse sounds like this to me: intro - fingerpicking G then into C Am C Am F G C for the verse twice. Chorus sounds like F F C F F C... except for the third verse where it is more like a bridge that goes Am G F, Am G F, Am G F. Here is a link with the Youtube version with lyrics...check it out and see what you think.

Thanks Dino - I lost most of my "twang" during my years in the USAF, but growing up in western NC does tend to color your dialect so much that it never fades all the way.

Thanks Pete - Good ideas on the title too...I sometimes struggle on what to name my songs...I remember an old saying that goes, "The only thing that remains the same is change." Or something like that....very true in this day and age.
