Obscurite should have picked Obscuwrong for a handle. I can understand some one wanting to biatch about something but if you have half a brain then you know there is a right way and a wrong way. I hope he figures it out soon so he can enjoy and not be a miserable SOB his whole life.
Well said Doug...Some people are you just can't talk to and he's one of them.
Well Done Topdown...You said all that was needed to be.

Nuff said

Hang in there Selso smile
Sounds like you and your wife got stung by the system. Good for you for standing up for your rights and fighting this, just don't forget to cross your T's and dot your I's.
As geo says "all things happen for a reason" Look for the good in this and you'll come out smelling like a rose not like a bag of %*(# your employers are.
Your a good man for doing the work you have done with the kids and that alone deserves a review on you and your wifes behalf.

Good Luck and we're pulling for you from around the world. smile

On April 08/09 8 year old Tori Stafford was abducted from her school. Enclosed is a video of her being taken away from school by an unknown person and that is the last anyone saw her.
Today they have arrested 2 people and charged them with murder.
A 28 yr old male and his 18 yr old girlfriend. They are presently looking for Tori from their instructions and she should be found by tonight God willing.
This is very distressing for a lot of people around here as there has been a lot of vigils and searching for her hoping for a good ending. It is not to be.
I feel sad for her family as they were under suspicion but there is still a possible link.
Woodstock is 30 miles from me and I work there regularly. The people there are dumbfounded by this senseless crime.
I have enclosed a few links to this story for those unaware of it.
This is the school video

This is wiki-pedia with links to her picture and more.

Please watch your children closely cause you just don't know now a days and if you are so inclined tonight before you go to sleep,
Say a Prayer for Tori

Sorry I have'nt been around much recently as it's been kinda hectic for me.

Hi Tine,
Another beautifully written poem. This speaks volumes on your writing style (which is very good). Sometimes it is not easy to write about events that have effected your life and other times it is easy. I feel this was a difficult write as you wanted to choose your words carefully.
Good for You Tine. Know you have some good friends here in Chordie land that support you.

I think this could make a good song with your second verse being the course.

Your Friend smile

I've knew there was a Canadian connection there. For some reason I thought it was also conceived in Canada. Thanks for correcting me on that.

Hi Ken,
Yup Nascar is stockcar racing. Named because in the early days they would take "stock cars" right off the assembly line and with little modifications race around in an oval. Stockcar (Nascar) has never been about smashing up on purpose.
We do however have a sport over here and it is appropriately called "Smash-up derby" at least here in Canada. Put 10 or so cars in a confined area and drive/crash/smash till there is only one car left running.I would love to try it just once as it looks like it would be a hoot.

Hi Doc
To try and answer a few of your questions,
You'll never see the violence fully taken out of the game of hockey. The sport is too fast moving and intense to play. The NHL is definitely moving in the direction of less violence with stronger penalties , but more importantly kids are being taught at a young age. I believe a lot of the violence now a days comes from all the protection they wear. For example they didn't wear helmets years ago and there were very few stick infractions. You will find it a lot easier to high stick someone or run him into the boards if you know he's wearing full body Armour.
The average "slapshot" is around 100 MPH.

Nascar is stockcar racing. Nascar is a governing body

Formula 1 in my opinion is better to watch then NASCAR but doesn't get the TV because US Tele can't get the commercial revenue from a global event. ( more money to be made on local sports).

These sports may been derived from English games but at least they were derived lol

Did you know the very first baseball game played in North America was in Beachville Ontario
Canada. Just 20 miles from where I live.

Also Basketball was invented in Canada

Kenny

Go Knights...Come on Habs

#1 Football   I'm not a fan.....Never played it. I'm a little fart so I never played it securing my future in life.

#2 Baseball   Love the game played lots as a kid and in the recreation leagues as an adult. I smoke but don't chew.

#3 Basketball   I'm not a fan...Never played it. I'm a little fart.

#4 Hockey   Big fan...never played it till a adult cause we couldn't afford skates for me. Then I had to learn to skate lol

Hockey is getting bigger in the states because of TV play and TV rights. We used to have other teams on Canadian soil but had to fold because of the market share. TV revenue is huge and will make or break a team. Probably 60 percent of the players are from the Canadian Junior leagues teams like my London Knights. Hey Ozzy Dennis Wideman was one of our star defencmen before being drafted.
The Knights are in it deep again. Another Memorial Cup? (Canadian Championship)
I would guess that NASCAR is in that mix somewhere...boring.
Tiger has helped out golf huge...look at the purses and TV play.
Cricket...maybe it is a good game....I haven't watched it cause it gets no TV time and seems to have a complicated scoring system.

A frog decides to add another pond for his growing family's pond and go's to the bank to get a loan to finance it. Upon entering the bank he approaches the loans manager Mr Paddiwhack and asks him if it is possible to get a loan for his add on pond. Mr Paddiwhack says that will not be a problem but you must have some collateral. The frog reaches into his coat and pulls out a big porcelain statue thingy and says this is all I have , will it do? Mr Paddiwhack leans over the desk to see what the frog has, and disappointingly says I'm afraid not. The frog begs him please sir it's all I have. So Mr Paddiwhack says...hang on I'll get the branch manager. The manager comes over and asks, Is there a problem? Mr Paddiwhack then explains that the frog would like a loan but all he has is this statue thingy. The bank manager takes one lookat the statue thing and replies...........Oh my god,That's a knick knack Paddiwhack, give the frog a loan. lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol

Hi Tine, Kudos to you for writing this piece about a subject that has affected you deeply. This takes a lot of nerve to do and hopefully, will help you spiritually to heal and regain your sense of self-worth. There are some powerful lines in this poem and can't help but feel you are well on your way to achieving this goal. smile

An Awesome Write, I'd give you a hug but the lines to skinny for me to get through, so by all means give yourself one from me.

Thanks for this.

Hi Phill
I'm guessing you've been watching a lot of Clint Eastwood movies recently. Nice writing for somebody that lives in Wales(Which is not England). I liked the flow to this.
Top notch all the way around. smile
I see Myspace has upped the amount of recordings to 10... Maybe I should give myself a boot and get off the couch.

Thanks for the inspiration to dust my axe.

Sorry about the brainfart Tine.. I had a dyslexic moment

Hey Topdown, Glad to hear there's more hockey fans out there.
Here in London we have the Junior A London Knights. From this league they are drafted directly to the NHL. Right now we are waiting to start the final series with Windsor. It should be a barn burner. We have John Tavares who will be the #1 NHL draft this year. (he'll end up in Toronto LOL) Windsor has Tyler Hall expected to be #1 in the entry draft. I haven't checked lately but I think London is #6 ranked in the country.
We get Freebee tickets to watch the Knights and it's always a blast. The JLC holds 9,500 and is always sold out.
I gotta agree that Junior sports are gooder to watch cause the kids are playing for their future and aren't spoiled yet.
My boss's brother plays in the NHL for St Louis (I think), can't remember his first name but the last name is Crombeen.
You have a great time watching the Hurricanes and I'll be thinking of you next time my Habs take you on. smile

Enjoy the game smile

Kenny

Ahh the almighty dollar/pound Eh Daddy!!!
No such thing as loyalty anymore...it's the new millennium. Can't imagine what it's gonna be like for our kids down the road. I guess that makes it our job to prepare them for whats to come. All we can do is keep on keeping on cause we gotta survive to teach them the way.

Persevere my friend smile

Hi Daddy, I got to agree with both Russ and Ken. There's lots of lurkers out there that don't feel like posting/responding for whatever reason they have. Like the problems you see on Youtube...I am glad that only a select few are responding.

Now I gotta go cause I saw a couple of posts from you that I want to respond to. smile

Hi Phill smile

Beautiful song inspired not only by the way things are going but also that you have a wife that you love dearly and she loves you. Keep that close to your heart and your blues will fade quicker.

Now go have a beer and I'll have one here with you.
