Tops, I tried all the different kinds and really liked the Dunlop Gator .71's I usually use Dunlop Tortex .73's when I'm mixing some flatpicking and strumming but the Gator .71's had a little more mellow tone that I really liked so I kept one of those and will probably order more
I added several of the Tortex .73's and Dunlop Grey .73's that I use frequently along with a few misc. picks that I had around. Threw a couple of my gigging picks in there as well... They're just Dunlop Tortex .73's but I drill small holes in them to prevent slipping. The Chordie punch out pick cards were really neat also!
I don't even keep Google installed so I don't have an account but ,if you don't mind, I'll follow your example and send you the coordinates for our park that's only 2 blocks from the house so the map shows it. I play there often for the kids and can send you a pic showing it for the map. -Pix
Stumbled across this cover of Madonna's "Holiday" by Jack & G-Love... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z__VGTi … annel_page Thought they put a really cool twist on it. Love the spoons and harmonica
G-Love's vocal solo sounds reminiscent of an 80's LL in this song...IMO Figured I'd share it.. Peace! -Pix
Cam, looks like you're next! I'll have them mailed out to you first thing Monday morning.
I've tried to email you back a few times but for some reason they won't go through.... So drop me another if you can. -Pix
Ready to ship out! First person to email me with their address gets them next

Maybe a little world map that we each can mark and connect the dots... That way everyone that gets it can track it's progress and route. Maybe even post a pic of the map from time to time here so others can see how it's progressing as well... Just a thought -Pix
I was never really a coffee drinker anyway but about 10 years ago I quite all caffinated and all carbonated drinks. No alcohol either... For me it's just green tea or fruit juices. I've felt much better since then!
Now my wife.... Let's just say that she better have her coffee!! It's not pleasant at all if something interferes with her morning brew
Just thought I'd share another one I found last night... This is Will Conner "Life" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prpUTCGH … annel_page
Just a good band I've been into lately... Figured I'd share a few of their tunes.
"Wednsday Morning" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYNjREmX … re=channel G D Em C play along

I have answered posts and also put up a free lesson here at chordie and will continue to help when I can. I did not ask for anyting in return. Once again I am just trying to see where you are all coming from. This is a discusion which ends up with differences in opinion.
Thanks
Steve
No worries Steve, I didn't mean that as a jab toward you personally. Just expressing some thoughts... If you remember, I commented on your first lesson and commended you for sharing your knowledge freely. -Pix
Cool! Thanks for the input and Welcome to Chordie! Look forward to seeing you around! -Pix
Man that's sounds and looks fabulous!! I'm envious
Always wanted to go to Alaska but haven't been able to do it yet. Glad you enjoyed yourself!
Glad it's working for you
I should have went more in detail with the jig and clamping that I referred to in my first post... Sorry
They look cool! I checked out a few vids and they sound nice also http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=eleuke
Or ,if we all had that view, than we would all help one another and there would be MAJOR progress. It's never really "free" if the favor is returned. It's a cycle man... Agreed the world will probably never be that perfect..
But we're talking about free guitar lessons... Just because one or two may leach, does that mean I shouldn't help anyone because "You never can tell who is lying about being able to afford it" I don't think I could live my life not trusting anyone because there are a few who deceive. But to each his own. I just take it one day at a time and do what I feel is right. Just an old hippie I guess
It just seems odd that with all the things going on in the world that people can complain about free sharing and others using that shared knowledge... -Pix
Every point has two sides.... You can say that everyone expects stuff for free or You could say that no one want's to help without gaining something in return.... Who's worst the one that want's it free or the one that thinks everything deserves something in return? I've posted or sent well over a hundred tutorials/lessons online over the past couple of years for fellow chordie members, youtubers, AGFrs, and pretty much anybody else that asked me. I've never asked for a dime, though money has been offered to me by some. I do it to help inspire others to play music....Period. A nice "Thank You" is all I every expect.... I always just incourage them to share what ever they learned with others. IMO Helping your fellow man with no material gain is a positive direction for the world to go...
Shawshank Redemption is my #1
Braveheart
All the Star Wars movies
The Crow (Only part 1 with Brandon Lee) the others sucked.. I was working EMS in Hanover county when he was shot during the filming, so I was one of the paramedics administering care en-route to the ER.. He was stable upon arrival and died shortly after.... Hmmmmm

Not as good as the books but still very entertaining...
12 Monkeys
Shaun of the Dead Love this movie!
That's it for know, I'm sure more will come to mind and be added later though... -Pix
+1 to the above comments! I also use the marshall AS50D and am very happy with it for my acoustics and mics. -Pix
Russell_Harding wrote:That makes sense because with my Dobro slide guitar I play it horizontal and it resonates to my ear louder and it also seems to record in my video with more volume those designs on that link really look great I wonder if anyone with a Gibson or Martin would have that done or forgo it because of the possible resale value
I don't think the value has much to do with it. Sound ports originated on custom built guitars in the $7k-$10k range
I see many people with Olsons, Coveys, Taylors, Martins, etc.. installing them. Martin custom shop even offers them as an option now. What some may see as a devalue others will see as an extra feature, so I think it'd balance out at resale. It all depends on how well it was done and where you advertise it... IMO
Russell_Harding wrote:Interesting reading pix but is there a change in the quality of tone or is it the same only with more volume?
Russ, If you had asked me right after I first heard it, I would have said that there was a huge improvement in tone... Since then, I have recorded it several times playing different riffs covered and uncovered and from the audiences perspective (front of the guitar) the difference isn't very noticeable though I still feel there is some small improvement in over all tone and volume. The main difference with the port is from the players perspective. You just hear it so much better!! The easiest way to describe is for you to strum say a G chord in standard upright position, then lay it on your lap with the sound hole facing you and strum a G Chord... That's the difference. I can literally feel the sound/air hit me in the face when playing with the sound port. Recording from the back and sides also has a fairly large increase in volume with the port. I'll try to cover most angles when I record it and hopefully it will answer some of your questions.. I'm going to keep it really simple with only some basic chords and strumming so that I can make it as consistent as possible.
I bough a bulk pack of Martin Marquee strings about 2 years ago and the b string was 4 inches short in every pack. I wrote to the company and got 2 bundles (1 replacement and 1 free) from them with an apology.
I live by the coast so if I stored my strings for too long they'd start to rust as well. I've since started wrapping them really well with shrink/plastic wrap to keep moisture out and haven't had any more problems. I'm always sure to do this after a dry spell so I don't lock moisture in with them...
I expect the company will step up and replace the problem sets for you. That seems to be the norm from the similar stories I've heard. Your rust problem probably stems from the dealer (Orlando's humidity) since you stay in a drier climate. It doesn't take long in that salty/humid air. -Pix

Very interesting mod and a great depiction of how you did it. I usually position myself and guitar in front of a big plate glass window to hear what I think I want to hear. Your mod is a great "use it anywhere" application. Thank you. By the way, that's a nice touch glassing the inside to maintain structural integrity.
Thanks a lot man! It really makes a huge difference. We had a jam session here last night and after a few people tried it, I now have 5 installations on order!
The glass is kind of a personal touch
I'd never seen it done this way before... Most builders use wood to reinforce the area on solid wood guitars (laminate doesn't need reinforcement) but I felt the glass would work better. Especially with installing on a bend like that and working on an already completed guitar. It kept me from having to shape/bend the wood and worry about proper clamping, which would have been difficult considering it's position.
I plan on getting a real simple comparison vid up tonight with both sound port designs... Until then, Here are some interesting test results in decibels from Tim McKnight of McKnight Guitars that everyone can read over. http://www.mcknightguitars.com/soundports.html
