A GREAT EXAMPLE = BEE GEES.
On a 40 years "time-line" they reinvented themselves, from classics like "MASSACHUSETTS", I started a joke, to a transition period with "JIVE TALKIN" and the music of the mpvie SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, like Stayin'alive.
The BEE GEES are the best close harmony singers ever existed.
So finally is the question that starting with perfect harmony-songs, they started sing SO high, and I don't know if there are other bands singing that high.

Of course you can find the definition of "falsetto" on the internet, but almost every thread or topic.
I prefer to learn here about falsetto and why?
- what about your vocal chords.
- will singing falsetto cause problems for the vocal chords
- do you "HAVE IT" or can you "LEARN IT".
- is it a bad thing for your voice?

Michael Jackson, je sings very high too, but besides singing he talks like a woman too, convincing me that he took "female hormones". Being a medical doctor, you even don't need to be a doctor to see his looks.
BEARD? HIGH VOICE (a woman voice) and his "tormented character" by wanting to stay a child.

Yes indeed, my apologies, I was thinking real hard and busy on the internet, about the problems with brothers, that I forgot the other thread. 1 excuse, I'm feeling really bad, a recurrent fever, every week since almost 6 weeks I have fever, this isn't the ideal way to post threads, but yes here he is again that brother problem.
It's so fascinating about the situation in a band playing with your brother.
Also the JACKSON 5, how are they now?

Yesterday, I got luck, in a guitar store, I saw 3 Duesenberg guitars.
I played 30 seconds on a DUESENBURG 49er. The guitar has gone if you wait a few days, the retail price was over 2000$
He asked 1100€ = 1700$ ands in Europe. The same guitar here will be really high
It's difficult
Who has experience with DUESENBURG?
The 49er sounded great, a fantastic sound provided by 2 single coils P-90.
I can't get that guitar out my mind.
IF FINANCIALLY affordable, it's one of the greatest sounds

WHO PLAYS DUESENBURG here on chordie?
IS THIS "GERMAN" BRAND made in the USA? What I found is that some parts are made on JAPAN, others in Italy.

Well tennesee strat, I did exactly what you did. My biggest problem is if I like something I want it.
I had the opportunity caused by the money I got from insurances.
If I should calculate the total price, well I'm ashamed.
It's been a while since I played my "electric" variax 700, caused by hospital in, hospital out, my ex-wife and or my daughter start to clean here, and I am missing something to use my variax.
Also: I have 3 amps. A MARSHALL valvestate 100W, a MARSHALL AS100D acoustic (I wanted a 50W acoustic amp, I played on both amps, with acoustic guitars, electric guitars, and the 50W NEVER.
My main amp is a FENDER CYBERTWIN, a hybrid amp with digital and tubes. THIS IS THE BEST AMP I KNOW, I adore gadgets, effects, and I compared my cyber amp having a lot of different FENDER AMPS on board, like a Bassman, TWIN, twin reverb, princeton...with 3 fender amps from friends. Nobody could hear the difference between my bassman in the cybertwin and an authentic bassman, same with the twin reverb. Add 100 different effects on board (or is it 200) and you have a monster amp, 2x65W, volume on 4  and the cybertwin blows you away. I speak about the FIRST amp. And my floorboards. I don't know what's wrong but enough isn't in my dictionary so 2 floorboards and a little BOSS VF 1.
That's me, I was able to buy a lot, but a car crash ruined it akk.

Hi LINUS, you're right, my mistake.
I have a guitar collection, acoustic, 5 martins and 4 gibsons.
One of my martins the "MARTIN-D1" is the only electro-acoustic guitar I have. I searched for acoustic pick-ups and I am just afraid that my guitar will "suffer" by using acoustic pick-ups.
I work with the 60ties method = 2 mics:
- one on a certain distance of the soundhole
- one near the 13th fret.
Unfortunately my daughters dog a Jack Daniels or is it Russell who toke one of my mics to use it as a bone.
- SOME PEOPLE TELL that this gives the best sound (see Bob Dylan, Donovan in the 60ties), IF YOU PLACE YOUR MICS CORRECT.
- OTHERS DON'T LIKE THAT SYSTEM AND THEY LOVE PICKUPS, a lot of different brands.
It is of course a lot easier, an electro-acoustic guitar. You plug it in an acoustic amp and there you go. I wanted 2 years ago to "transform" some of my acoustics into electro-acoustics. The price here for the best pick-up was about 75$, and I changed my mind, having already one, and providing a fantastic sound. SO, I USE THE OLD METHOD, which is TIME CONSUMING and you need to find out the correct position of yous microphones.

ALL BIG BRANDS AND ENDORSERS = TRICKS TO SELL?
- PAGE
- SLASH
- ZAKK
Those who can afford 1000 Gibsons get them free.
CAN THEY MAKE GIBSONS CHEAPER?
- GIBSON LES PAUL CUSTOM versus GIBSON LES PAUL STANDARD, the pick-ups yes, but is it worth the difference in price?
- A GIBSON LP SUPREME? I have one, fantastic guitar compared to a custom, heavier sound.
IS OT WORTH THE PRICE: beautiful guitar +++++,  really beautiful.
The pick-ups = 490R and 498T alnico humbuckers.
- GIBSON LES PAUL STUDIO = PICK-UPS  Neck Pickup: 490R  Bridge Pickup: 498T

Is the difference that big? a SUPREME is twice the price of a Studio.
I think yes, these guitar is far the most versatile Gibson, but doesn't really give the "typical" Gibson sound, compared to my CUSTOM.

What is your opinion about the GIBSON LP STUDIO? I had a nice one but every 2 songs I needed to tune her again.

I think MICHAEL JACKSON is A HERMAPHRODITE, who has both a va***a and a p**is.
Do you think he can make love with himself. He needs maybe thiny little hands who are able to help him without squeezing to hard.
SERIOUS I was told in a GOSSIP magazine that he used FEMALE HORMONES to keep his HIGH VOICE. A beard, a mustache: common!!!!!

A list and a why.
- OASIS: LIAM + NOEL GALLAGHER.
- BEACH BOYS: THE WILSON BROTHERS
- THE KINKS: RAY and DAVE DAVIES
- BEE GEES: BARRY, ROBIN AND MAURICE (+) GIBB
- CCR: JOHN AND TOM FOGERTY
- DIRE STRAITS: MARK AND DAVID KNOPFLER

Why is this a dangerous formula, and except for OASIS all the other brothers left the band.
is it "living in the shadow"?
WHERE DOES IT GO WRONG?
- CROWDED HOUSE: NEIL AND TIM FINN, a on and off relation..

Other brothers in other bands
- JIMMY VAUGHAN versus SRV
- Johnny WINTER and EDGAR WINTER
- RUDOLF SCHENKER and MICHAEL SCHENKER.

LINUS GUITAR: NO OFFENCE but there is an identical thread 3 lines lower.

What is your opinion about these guitars?
- I hear a lot that people playing a VARIAX (the electric) use it only in studio.
OR AM I WRONG and is the guitar used a lot on gigs?

Don't forget VARIAX is an uncle of GIBSON ROBOTIC & FENDER VG.

The title is just SYMBOLIC.
Why was R&R considered as MUSIC of the devil?
ELVIS =
- A HUGE almost HYSTERICAL reaction against ELVIS shaking with his hips.
I saw so much on TV about that period, and I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY.
MICHAEL JACKSON =
- When he performs, how open minded I might be, I HATE the way he acts.
Every 10 seconds he is "grabbing his CROTCH, or lifting his balls (SORRY FOR THIS WORD, it is not meant to write profanity here, I just write the reality), and HOW MANY people reacted on this FACT?

I'm really sorry, watching a performance on TV, it is really disturbing me, it is even disgusting, and believe me I saw a lot of things in my life, as a MD.

GREAT SITE, it shows the evolution indeed.

You know I love your tips and answers.
SITUATION 1 =
- A very POWERFUL AMP strong and loud enough to play for 10.000 people.
- Of course EFFECT processors, "let your guitar scream baby"
- TURN VOLUME HIGH

Are we able to hear in THIS CONDITION the difference between a FENDER MIM versus a MIA?
Same for GIBSON versus EPIPHONE (like SLASH, ZAKK WYLDE GIBSONS vs EPIPHONES)

What will be the answer. I know BOOT that this is an unusual situation, because 99% plays at home, or remain in a rehearsal state, OR a gig in bars, in front of a few hundreds of people.

SITUATION 2 =
- AMP + GUITAR, even loud NO EFFECTS, a clean sound.

First: who can imagine today a world without PC, GPS, Flat Screens.
Also in GUITAR WORLD nothing is the same.
You want to sound like JIMI HENDRIX, there is a little device giving you that sound.
WHAT DO WE HAVE:
- a guitar is still a guitar.
- AMPS, no way to compare with amps dating from the 60ties and 70ties. A lot of the amps have a lot of effects.
- FLOORBOARDS giving you hundreds of different sounds

BUT HOW DID THEY MANAGE such a great sound in the 60ties & 70ties?
They had a wall of amps, AMPHEADS + THE BIG BOXES.
How did they produce sounds, take JIMI HENDRIX. An AMP, a GUITAR and a WAH WAH AND a sound to blow us all away. I only know that they connected one amp into another,in fact I don't know s***about HOW THEY MANAGED, TO GIVE US SUCH A SOUND

I ask always the same questions: AGE & MUSIC STYLE
If you like GIBSON, there are a few interesting guitars
- Gibson Melody Maker Dual Pickup Electric Guitar  4 star rating  299$
This is a very light AUTHENTIC GIBSON, with 2 single coils.
- Gibson Melody Maker Electric Guitar like made end 50ties, 1 Single COIL    384$
- Gibson Blem SG Special Electric Guitar                608$
- Gibson Faded SG Special Electric Guitar               699$
These are higher than your budget. But try eBay, if you are a non US citizen, and they deliver at your home and country DON'T FORGET the CUSTOMS. I did this 7 times, in July/August 2006, the Euro was already stronger = 1200$ = 1000€, and the price I paid was an extra 300€ for a guitar  sold here for 1800€.
ADVICE check some guitars on YOUTUBE, you SEE & HEAR them. Please try to keep the EPI SG special, it's one of the cheapest but a real good one.
Of course you have a lot more guitars, so WHAT KIND OF GUITAR or BRAND do you want?
IBANEZ
EPIPHONE
FENDER: Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar 4 1/2 stars 399$
Fender Standard HSS Stratocaster Electric Guitar Overall rating: 9.18    2 single coils, 1 humbucker 399$
I really hope that you have an idea now. My method is LOOK on line, judge on youtube and decide. If you have the occasion go to your guitar store and try, this is time consuming, in my case difficult (disabled) but I was here in BELGIUM known in the two biggest stores, because I spended more than a professional, allowing me to play on "guitars behind bars".

In stead of cleaning tips I give you tips TO keep your guitar in good shape.
THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ACOUSTIC AND ELECTRIC, not much and in both circumstances the worst is: "changing temperatures"
A/ ELECTRIC
1) Clean or wash your hands before playing your guitar.
2) After you are finished playing, wipe the strings and the finish of the instrument with a soft cloth to remove dirt and oils.
B/ACOUSTIC
1) Is a lot more sensitive to temperature changes. There is ONE BIG RULE, detune your guitar, NO tension on the strings. If your guitar is transported by plane, there are AND temperature AND pressure changes, often resulting in the TYPICAL "NECK/HEADSTOCK FRACTURE." I had it once, and please NEVER try Strong glue" GO TO A LUTHIER, it isn't expensive, he has the tools and you really need to look with a microscope to see where the crack was.
2) An acoustic is more fragile and sensitive than an electric.
Use soft tissues to clean, a little brush to remove dust.
MARTIN CLEANING SPRAYS ARE CONSIDERED AS THE BEST GUITAR CLEANING PRODUCTS

06sc500, you're right, the list is a lot more longer, but you should see that woman named KAT, or THE GREAT KAT, astonishing that's why I give for the first time a woman place number one.

Music = an universal language.
Dance = a physical expression on music.
It is very difficult to stay on your chair when some different music styles GIVE YOU AN IMPULSE TO MOVE. Dancing it self is found not only in every culture but also in the world of animals, in particular birds.
A personal quote: I hate those women dancing and stripping, with 2 "balloons" not moving at all because of "silicon" hill (in stead of silicon valley) Or a LAP DANCE it won't excite me at all (there is definitely something wrong with me). THESE ARE  MAYBE DANCE STYLES, but not contributing to my thread.
We all know what BALLET is (my sister was a professional ballerina, she's 48 years now, lives in Berlin, is married with an Englishman who's parents came from MAURITIUS and he is a BALLERINO)
That last word is one of my word games.
What styles did pass the last 50 years right in front of us?Am I wrong if I say that a dance has a very complicated origin, like all the different styles coming from Europe, and mixing?
WHAT IS ON MY LIST:
- SWING JIVE
- LINDY HOP turning into R&R dance moves like in the movie grease.
- THE TWIST who changed more than you think. And people started dancing alone: no partner directly involved but in front of a partner.
- POGO (the PUNK dance, jumping and bumping)
- DISCO
- HEAD BANGING on hard rock/heavy metal is this VALID as dance style?

Please I need your help here, thanks a lot.

I believe it all started with VARIAX a Line 6 product = VARIAX 300, VARIAX 600 and the VARIAX 700 all electrics.

But who has a, or has experience with:

1) GIBSON ROBOTIC GUITAR? First "edition", because that product has been discontinued (I would love to have an answer on WHY do they do it? Those Gibsons were sold faster than light.
Now they produce a "studio" and an SG ROBOTIC guitar. If I should buy one it would be an SG.
Watching videos on youtube, a Gibson Robotic, first issue looks more difficult than they promote.

2) FENDER VG STRATOCASTER?
Has more options than a GIBSON ROBOTIC.
37 different issues. They all come from the five primary Modes: Normal (non-digital) Stratocaster, virtual Stratocaster, Telecaster, humbucking pickup and acoustic. In each mode, use the guitar’s blade switch to select pickups (bridge, middle and neck). This guitar has 5 alternate tunings.

Except from the VARIAX who has experience with one of these 2 guitars? An amazing extra is the fact thatyour VG needs batteries, when their time has come, the VG turns into a regular STRAT.

It took me a while to figure out what the meaning of "shredding" was.
Guitar players trying to play as fast as they can.
IS IT:
- an art
- a skill
- do you need to be a "classical" guitarist like Yngwie Malmsteen?
- or is it WORKING VERY HARD, by playing hours and hours on your guitar?

I believe it started end 60ties with JIMI HENDRIX
I need to add JIMMY PAGE, RICHIE BLACKMORE, CLAPTON and BECK + A LOT MORE VERY FAST GUITARISTS. (Alvin Lee on WOODSTOCK, I'm going home.
- the G3, with JOE SATRIANI, STEVE VAI and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, this concert I have on DVD.
SATRIANI is the CONSTANT factor and he is accompanied by the worlds finest guitarists like VAI, ERIC JOHNSON, PAUL GILBERT, JOHN PETRUCCI and some more.

Having a SHREDDER in your band has to be OR A DISASTER or a BLESSING.
That's why they play ALONE I think but surrounded by big names.
So WHAT IS YOUR TOP 5 LIST OF SHREDDERS?
1) A woman = THE GREAT KAT
2) MICHAEL ANGELO
3) YNGWIE MALMSTEEN
4) JOE SATRIANI
5) STEVE VAI

I'm interested in the fact how many guitar players here play
- in open tuning
- fingerpicking, flatpicking
- strumming

AND, if the following statement is correct: Some guitars are a lot better in sound when fingerpicking.
- SANTA CRUZ
- COLLINGS

Irish Whiskey = from a GAY LICK word UISCE BEATHA
Scottish Whisky = from a GA LICK word USQUEBAUGH
GAY-LICK lol  lol  lol  big_smile
Isn't language beautiful, probably same tribes, one moving to Ireland and the other in Scotland.
I've been "fascinated" since years in LANGUAGES, or the ORIGIN of languages. Most of our language is an evolution from INDO-GERMANIC. In INDIA: FATHER= PITAR, in DUTCH = VADER, LATIN = PATER (you see the similarity).
The IRISH-GALLIC word is Uisce (of Uisge) Beatha (uitspraak iesjkje bjaha)
The SCOTTISH - GALLIC = Usquebaugh, both meaning WATER OF LIFE.
In Danmark: AQUAVIT, in France: eau-de-vie.
I am surprised to have so many responses.
I went to a whisky distillery in SCOTLAND, I was told there that the WATER was important too, but most funny was when they opened a huge wash back, and breathing with your head over the edge, Jesus, my daughter 7 years old couldn't walk after inhaling, and we were "high".

Thanks for all your help, I LOVE YOU ALL.

BUT WHAT ABOUT ZAKK WYLDE'S GUITARS?
THERE ARE
- 2 GIBSON LES PAUL GUITARS
- 1 EPIPHONE LES PAUL
All 3 are real beautiful guitars, and the PICK-UPS are EMG.
- Epiphone Zakk Wylde LP Custom Electric Guitar Bulls-Eye with Overall rate: 9.08     799$
THIS IS EQUIPPED WITH EMG HZ H4 pickups
- Gibson Custom Shop Limited Run Zakk Wylde Bullseye Aged LP Overall Rate: 6.24  7999,99$
THIS is 10 times more than his EPIPHONE
- Gibson Custom Shop Zakk Wylde Signature LP  Bull's Eye Overall Rate: 8.83    4399$

BOTH GIBSONS ARE AT FIRST SIGHT IDENTICAL, USING EMG 81 & 85.
QUESTION
- The EMG pick-ups on the GIBSONS versus the EMG PICK UPS on the EPIPHONE CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENCE between EMG HZ H4 and the EMG 81 & 85?
Is it worth to spend 8000$ for an "aged" guitar?

Welcome KIRRIA and thanks for answering.
It is maybe an unusual thread, but FAMOUS BANDS + GROUPIES = A PHENOMENON
And my question was indeed if this phenomenon still exists. At the end of the 60ties and the 70ties, you had 1 formula: BANDS + GROUPIES = AN ENTITY.

- A CLASSIC = band members pointing some girls in the audience, and they were invited BACK-STAGE, purpose????
- GIRLS (There are probably male groupies too), sitting on the front row of every gig.

In fact not only musicians have groupies, but also people like Andy Warhol, but it always turns around the same thing
MONEY = MORE POWER and just take a look how many people are "friends" as long as you have money and compare this with a dramatic event where your money has gone: HOW MANY so called FRIENDS will remain.
POLITICS = POWER.
In fact it's all around power. I don't know how the situation is in the US, but here in BELGIUM, a girl is chosen to be MISS BELGIUM. She has a boyfriend, and she tells in public how much she loves him to see a few months later that she has a new boyfriend, who has MONEY, a few cars, a big house.
OR also a classic: a 60 year old man, having a fortune AND a girlfriend 25 years old. I knew a man in that position (70 y), and saw one of the most DISGUSTING THINGS I EVER SAW: he was almost beat to dead by his own 3 children, afraid that that girl, 45 years younger, would take a big piece of the money-cake. THIS IS DISGUSTING. His answer is now one of my all time favorite oneliners: She gives me a beautiful time, being so young, I know she didn't take me for my "looks", and I have a great time with her, giving her presents, trips.
In fact these girls taking a rich guy, and marry him are for me "ordinary callgirls"

This a weird thread, but BANDS and GROUPIES, Does it still exist?
The "high lights" for groupies were more situated in the 70ties, but today.
MONEY = POWER = SUCCESS,
- What purpose do they have, and how to become a groupie?
- Is it still a statement that band members point some girls in the audience for a "personal chat" backstage?
- Are they CONTRIBUTING or DESTRUCTIVE. I know they all want THEIR MOMENT OF GLORY, but in my eyes they are just Wh***, and only one thing counts: S  E  X
I know that one groupie was world famous BEBE BUELL, and the ridiculous charade who was the father of her child, now LIV TYLER
