I like the idea of us all doing a song written by one of our own.  So my vote goes for Beamers song.  It should be really interesting, because none of us but Beamer knows how it goes - so the renditions should be wildly varied.

We need a Christmas song for December, so my new recommendation is "Christmas for Cowboys" by John Denver.

Committing suicide on the way to execution may be the very definition of spite.

I like that the meter stays consistent and while the message cuts to philosophy, the lyrics are easy to understand.

I like the artwork, but the camera movement had me a little seasick.

Welcome to Chordie AJSmith and ccosten.

I don't know anything about Onyx guitars, but follow the number one rule of guitars: If it sounds good, it is good.

Bill - Get you a Guild if you can.

I learned first on a Yamaha classical.  Then I moved to a Yamaha folk steel string guitar.  You get used to it either way pretty quick, actually.  The reason I suggest Guild is that the neck is kind of flat like a classical and just a tiny bit wider than a standard steel string.   Pretty much, it's a monster guitbox that crosses between a classical and a Fender blastocaster with grace and aplomb.  Paint it blue, and you've got everything you could ever hope for.

I think I saw him live locally one time.  If it's the same guy, he's also a motivational speaker.  It was a very good show.

This is what happens when Jan is away.. Joe and I  are no good with getting things done on time!  LOL!  We'll pick the song, and get the new thread up sometime TODAY!  smile

Are you picking the song or picking someone to pick the song?

But won't we be picking the song that's picked by the song picker who is picked?

Sorry all my weekend just got loaded.

Was the owner of the Caddy pleased?  I thought the car looked a whole lot better when you were done with it.

Bill - I have a little Fender 15W Frontman practice amp you can have for that strat.  It has been featured in photographs here on Chordie as a foot prop and end table for enormous glasses of bourbon.  Private message me your address either here or on Facebook, and I'll check out what the postage will cost.  I get a big discount from UPS through work, so it has to be a physical address.

I'd be more worried about humidity than temperature within those ranges.

I'm not sure what my wife has planned for my time this weekend, but I want to know about the event.  I know I have to run up to Harrisburg, PA mid-day, but think I'll be free in the evening.  (3-5 Beamer Time).

I'll send you my contact via FB PM.

Renovating a church sounds like a big job.  Good for you.  I wish you well with it.  Good luck with your move(s).

Only played one in the store.  I haven't owned one.  It seemed like a decent travel guitar.  I wouldn't make it my main axe.  No bottom end.  Maybe there is when plugged in, but I didn't plug in.

I'm up for it.  I miss those things.  If no one else, we can have fun Beamer.  Now finding a time... ha.  There's the hard part.  Every weekend is booked through Thanksgiving I think.  I'll double check the calendar, but finding a time is what's hard.

That's exactly what happened to the ring finger on my right hand.  I broke the middle finger with the same stroke, but didn't now it because the ring finger smarted so badly.  I was playing bass then, but couldn't fret a note for about four weeks. I hope your recover is quicker.

Sounds like a great way to spend a birthday.  I'm glad you enjoyed yourself.  Here's hoping for many more.

Topdown and I heard a guy playing on a winery porch who had his vocals through a chorus effect rigged to a stomp box.  He made very good use of it, too!  He brought in the "harmonizing" at just the right times to emphasize his performance.  I've been wanting to rig up something like that, but I haven't had my PA out of the box in more than a year it's been so busy.

None.

Or...hardly ever.

I bang out songs loudly and sing badly.

As far as practicing scales - maybe ten minutes at a time every once in a while.  As soon as a noise comes out of my guitar, my family comes to burst down my office door to ask me to do stuff for them because - and I quote - "You're not doing anything."

Welcome back Rick!  Please do let us know if you have any issues.  Like Doug said, most changes were cosmetic.  Although, Chordie did get a new server as well so there are far less down times than before!  smile

Yeah - most of the changes were behind the scenes for more reliable hosting and databases.  There were cosmetic and design changes, but the big stuff dealt with reliability.

Practice is going poorly.  I am swamped by work, kids, and volunteer activities.  I'll keep working on it, though.  It's an interesting song.  It sounds simple enough, but is really challenging to get the verses right on the tail of the chorus each time without even a run-up note, and the melody is simple enough but is plumb evading me picking it out on guitar even when I have found some decent tabs for it.

If I don't get it during October, it may just get posted to Soundcloud at a later time.  Hard to say.

Sorry, but I don't have the foggiest what you're talking about.  Is the World Series on and the Cubs are in it?  That's my best guess.  I just really don't follow or care about professional sports at all.
