Hi draj04698, please feel free to share your thoughts on POP music on here now, this is what this thread is for.  Actual entries or performances for POP won`t happen until September but feel free to discuss anything POP music related now or make suggestions on POP music you would like people to perform next month or maybe that you want to perform.

Anymore Jazz entries?  I am away presently so most likely won`t get to record anything this month.

Great that you have kept playing what your teacher taught you Richard.  Oh that was your son? lol

Well done Richard, Jazz is hard to play (well at least for me).  Great how you did both parts.  Congrats for being first to post on here this month.  On a different note, that wee child falling over on the rocks, ouchies.

This month of AUGUST we are looking forward to your JAZZ performances.

Some suggested JAZZ performers were Diana Krall, Louis Armstrong, John Coltrane, Amy Winehouse, Miles Davis, Lee Morgan.

Here are some JAZZ songs that were SUGGESTED for anyone to perform.
Beyond the Sea – Bobby Darin
Minnie the Moocher – Cab Calloway
Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong.
Can`t we be Friends – Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.

Looking forward to your performances.

READY, SET, GO!!!

The song My Elusive Dreams is WONDERFUL !! Your voice is still the gold standard. Loved your performance on this.
Was this an original from you ?

The song Little ol' wine drinking me - I remember that from DM show.
You should sing more often, it makes the day for all who hear you sing day so much better !!

Thanks for Sharing

Jim

Thanks, Jim, aww such the lovely comments.

The song My Elusive Dreams is a cover I did.   It was written by Billy Sherrill and Curly Putman and performed as a duo by Tammy Wynette and David Houston.  Others like Nancy Sinatra have done it too.  Here is a link https://www.bing.com/videos/riverview/r … ORM=VAMGZC

Yes, I remember Dean Martin performing this song, he was great at it.   I always liked Dean Martin.

Here are my very late entries and probably first entries in over a year.  I will check SoundCloud myself actually to see when I last put anything up.  Anyway, what I am realizing is, "Use it or Lose it".  That goes for anything including anything musical, instruments, singing.   I am quite surprised how the vocals slacken, and the strum become just that, strum, strum, strum if you don't keep practicing or playing.

Yes, I've discovered that too - practice is key to sounding half decent ... anyway, they were two good songs!!

Cheers

Richard

Thanks Richard for having a listen  and comment.  Yep, I definitely need to get back into and practice, practice, practice.  It doesn't take much to lose it and feel like one has to start all over again.

Grah1, thanks for the comments.  Yes, it is an electric ukulele, and I may have had my settings a bit wrong if it sounded distorted, I am very much out of practice with everything.  I do have an old ukulele, just a cheapy with a Low G string, I don`t tend to use that uke much though as I prefer my Ibanez one which is this electric one.  Having said that, I will grab the one with the low G string on it and give it another go and see if I prefer the sound.

Good demo you did on your uke by the way with the low G string.

Jiml brilliant, well done lol.  Though I am not a whiskey drinker, I am sure my husband would like this song, he enjoys a whiskey smile

Really good TIGLJK, thanks for sharing.  Gosh a very young Louis Armstrong in that one.

Will put up the new threads tomorrow everyone, sorry been away the weekend so running late.

I have a Roland Street Cube, it does both, portable, easy to use.

That was really good Richard, this version was great.  I think whenever we have accompanying musicians play with us, our performances go way up, simply because the other instruments make a big difference.   Awesome.
PS:  On a completely unrelated topic, I like the decor in his house, I kept staring at it, very nice.  Loved the sign with the names on it, like road signs.

I also did this one a few years ago on banjo:

The banjo gave it a completely different effect Richard, nice to see something different with a well known song.

You were saying? big_smile

A very different version of Waltzing Matilda  Richard lol but I enjoyed it, well done.  I never thought of it as a Country song to be honest.  So, I looked it up and apparently it`s a Bush Ballard / or some say Folk music.  It`s definitely an unofficial national anthem for the Aussies smile  Anyway, you did good, even if it was hard to hear the vocals ;P

Also take tumeric in vege capsules every day.

You can try rubbing organic castor oil into your aching joints,  especially at night before bed so it soaks in through the night.  But use whenever you think to put it on.  It won't work straight away, but it's one of those things that the more you use it, the more it helps.

He certainly was a character as is Sharon his wife.

Good to hear a female cover this, gave it different dynamic.

I like Louis Armstrongs Jazz stuff and I like Amy Winehouse jazz style though she did cross into other genres as well.  I like some jazz but I find a lot of it just to slow for me.

That is so good Jim, lots of really good lines in there, all the better if based off a true story.  I can`t give you any advice as I am not much of a song writer or blues player but love what you have done with this song.
