Great so see you pop in here again Mojo.  A great song, thoroughly enjoyed listening to it and hope you will keep them coming.  You have a great talent.

As for me I am out of action for a while, broke my arm last Thursday, so in a cast for 6 weeks.  So will have to sit back and enjoy listening to your performances and comment (type) with my non writing hand.

easybeat,  good lyrics in this song and very true, not everyone is cut out to be a Govt man, pencil pusher.   Thankfully we have people on the tools as well smile

To get things going, here are a couple of my songs some friends and I worked on:

Spider in a tree: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mf7lwfmfNFM

Today is the day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SrtarwVX1c

Enjoy

I loved both of these neophytte.  You nailed them both.  The spider one we have heard b4 and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time, probably more.  In both, the visual ambience added to them.   What were you using on the second song to change the vocals?  What camera are you using to film as it scans around the room?  Very affective and adds to the total performance.

Bit quiet with entries this month anyone else got one of their performances to share?

TIGLJK,  great lyrics in this song and the performer did a great job of it.  Who is the singer and guitar player?

Cheers Piri the problem with mainstream radio is the gatekeepers who control what gets played and what doesn't. Programme directors and radio promoters have nowadays been corrupted by some unknown thing that stifles new and exciting and old and exciting taking away a chance to be heard. Those with the big money set trends and its not exciting or a good thing for music I think. Powerful corporations make it all bland to me.

Peatle, totally agree with you on that.  Thanks for sharing both, they were great.

TIGLJK, thanks for the various links to your friend's artwork and the poem.  Very interesting to what inspired you to write this song.

neophytte, Tiny Dancer, nicely done, good performance by you, so well done.
The other song "Love will tear us apart", I hadn't heard of before, so I went and had a look at the original song as well.

Grah, enjoyed all 3 videos, thanks for sharing.  Looks like you and the lads were having a good time doing this number.  Good food, good wine (or in this case raki) and good company by the looks.  Well done, thoroughly enjoyed watching this one.  The drummer had great rhythm and the lead guitarist was good too.

Hi draj04698, please feel free to share your thoughts on POP music on here now, this is what this thread is for.  Actual entries or performances for POP won`t happen until September but feel free to discuss anything POP music related now or make suggestions on POP music you would like people to perform next month or maybe that you want to perform.

Anymore Jazz entries?  I am away presently so most likely won`t get to record anything this month.

Great that you have kept playing what your teacher taught you Richard.  Oh that was your son? lol

Well done Richard, Jazz is hard to play (well at least for me).  Great how you did both parts.  Congrats for being first to post on here this month.  On a different note, that wee child falling over on the rocks, ouchies.

This month of AUGUST we are looking forward to your JAZZ performances.

Some suggested JAZZ performers were Diana Krall, Louis Armstrong, John Coltrane, Amy Winehouse, Miles Davis, Lee Morgan.

Here are some JAZZ songs that were SUGGESTED for anyone to perform.
Beyond the Sea – Bobby Darin
Minnie the Moocher – Cab Calloway
Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong.
Can`t we be Friends – Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.

Looking forward to your performances.

The song My Elusive Dreams is WONDERFUL !! Your voice is still the gold standard. Loved your performance on this.
Was this an original from you ?

The song Little ol' wine drinking me - I remember that from DM show.
You should sing more often, it makes the day for all who hear you sing day so much better !!

Thanks for Sharing

Jim

Thanks, Jim, aww such the lovely comments.

The song My Elusive Dreams is a cover I did.   It was written by Billy Sherrill and Curly Putman and performed as a duo by Tammy Wynette and David Houston.  Others like Nancy Sinatra have done it too.  Here is a link https://www.bing.com/videos/riverview/r … ORM=VAMGZC

Yes, I remember Dean Martin performing this song, he was great at it.   I always liked Dean Martin.

Here are my very late entries and probably first entries in over a year.  I will check SoundCloud myself actually to see when I last put anything up.  Anyway, what I am realizing is, "Use it or Lose it".  That goes for anything including anything musical, instruments, singing.   I am quite surprised how the vocals slacken, and the strum become just that, strum, strum, strum if you don't keep practicing or playing.

Yes, I've discovered that too - practice is key to sounding half decent ... anyway, they were two good songs!!

Cheers

Richard

Thanks Richard for having a listen  and comment.  Yep, I definitely need to get back into and practice, practice, practice.  It doesn't take much to lose it and feel like one has to start all over again.

Grah1, thanks for the comments.  Yes, it is an electric ukulele, and I may have had my settings a bit wrong if it sounded distorted, I am very much out of practice with everything.  I do have an old ukulele, just a cheapy with a Low G string, I don`t tend to use that uke much though as I prefer my Ibanez one which is this electric one.  Having said that, I will grab the one with the low G string on it and give it another go and see if I prefer the sound.

Good demo you did on your uke by the way with the low G string.
