Hi Jeff
I know where you are coming from. I find myself "Looking Back in Time" a lot now a days and wondering of the paths life has taken with me.

It's good to look back and learn who you are and why. smile

Thanks for this.

Hi Phill,

Another image intensive piece. smile This will fit in nicely with "To Avalon"

"And as the sea claims them,

I hear them calling out,

Row boys just row."

A great lyric Well Done. smile

Hi Daddy,Thanks.I'm betting there's a good percentage that can relate.Kinda stinks though, but it's true.

lol Thanks Phill. Although for me it isn't written with Bimbo #1 or #2 in mind the shoe still fits as one size fits all in that world.
As for me trying to cipher out the BR-600...it's gonna be an uphill battle and I'll be bending some ears here and looking for answers on other boards so I don't become a pest. As for recording I'll give myself two weeks lol and I will have something up.

Thanks Again

I have seen and known a lot of people that work hard only to spend their hard earned money on nothing but the best for themselves or their kids and ending up broke, divorced or both. This is a fictitious song about a couple in Arizona(Why Arizona I don't know...it just seemed to fit  lol) dealing with this issue. I don't know how to describe how it plays.

Enjoy

Take the Slow Rideby Ken Peters Feb 2009

[A][F#m] [A] [F#m]

[A]Kate and Rickie live in Arizona,

Always [F#m]working hard ain't got no time for play.

When [A]Katie flapped her wings just like a puppet on a string,

Poor Rickie [F#m]jumped so high he'd hear the angels sing. [E]

[D]Flopping to the left ,Rickie's [E]flopping to the right,

Poor Rickie's [D]dropping cause he just can't take no [E]more.

[D]Honey he would sing I'm not a [E]puppet on a string,

If we don't [D]talk it out I'm walking out that [E]door.

[E]You've got to learn to take the [A]slow ride.[C] [D]

Take a [D]sweet ride. [C] [A]

Oh baby baby take the [A]slow ride. [C] [D]

Lets take our [D]sweet time. [C] [A]

[A] [F#m] [A] [F#m]

[A]No doubt about it Katie liked the good things,

No [F#m]way around it Katie liked her toys,

She [A]dreamed of working hard to get her bling-bling,

While [F#m]all the other girls dreamed of the boys. [E]

Now [D]Ricky as a man couldn't [E]really understand,

The [D]logic of the work without the [E]play.

So [D]Ricky made a dare hoping [E]Katie could compare,

cause [D]Ricky couldn't take another [E]day

[E]He said you've got to take the [A]slow ride. [C] [D]

Take a [D]sweet ride. [C] [A]

Oh baby baby take the [A]slow ride. [C] [D]

Lets take our [D]sweet time. [C] [A]

[A] [F#m] [A] [F#m]

Instrumental guitar and base line for 3rd verse

Now [A]Kate and Rick still live in Arizona,

Their still [F#m]working hard but found the time to play.

Now [A]she understands there's more to living,

and [F#m]giving seems to be a better way. [E]

[D]All the fancy bling really [E]doesn't mean a thing.

[D]Now she knows it's really all for [E]show.

[D]Katie now can sing that she [E]knows what life can bring,

Now [D]Rickie won't be walking out that [E]door.

She had to learn to take the [A]slow ride. [C] [D]

Take the [D]sweet ride. [C] [A]

She had to learn to take the [A]slow ride. [C] [D]

Take her [D]sweet time. [C] [A]

She finally learned to take the [A]slow ride. [C] [D]

Take her [D]sweet time. [C] [A]

She finally learned to take the [A]slow ride. [C] [D]

Her [D]sweet time. [C] [A]

Hi Daddy,
Yup lots of employers out there that don't give a rats rear for the workers that are keeping them in business.Where I work, they have used the work code to their advantage and legally don't have to pay the service guys for Christmas,Boxing Day,New Years Day and so on.And they don't.
A family run business,17 kids in the family that all have there finger in the pie. One of the guys mother past away a few years back(2 weeks after my mother passed) He was paid 1 day at shop rate which is 3 dollars an hour less then regular pay. This really bothered me as I am on salary and I took 3 days.I felt very bad for my friend so now I have absolutely no respect for the company I work for but times are tough and I gotta do what I gotta do.

Well Done Daddy, take a stab at recording this or ask for some help in the recording. smile

Beautifully written Alan.
I'm sure there are a lot of the "older generation" out there that this would apply to. A sad song indeed but one that makes one think of not losing site of what one has.

Well Done
Will we get to hear this or at least your new friend?

Thanks for the thoughts marc and Russ smile

Today I went out and looked at what is in the stores.I just happened to find the Boss BR 600.It cost $485 Canadian.I figured that it would be better then paying $350 for a used BR-8 without the warranty and the destructions(although I could probably find them online)so-o-o-o....................I choked down hard and bought it.
As Weedjie says it'll take some time but it is gonna be worth it for me.I was getting tired of slamming on my monitor to get the picture back to see what I just recorded lol besides it's an old puter like me and not getting any younger.
Any little tips or tricks would be great from anyone on board that is knowledgeable on my new toy/Christmas Present.

I have decided to spend sum bucks and am looking at a Boss BR-8 for $350 Canadian.Any feedback on this unit or others would be greatly appreciated.I have been working with Audacity but I find I get frustrated trying to get the end results I envision. Don't get me wrong,Audacity is a great program for learning but I would like to get to the next level.

Thanks
Kenny

PS Thanks for all your help and the Audacity toots Russell smile
