I visited a housing estate today in a depressed area and wrote this .
The Labyrinth
Em C
Housing estates and kids without purpose,
D Em
roaming the streets just out of control.
Em C
Time to establish a route for their energy
D Em
Something that’s better than kicking a ball.
C D
Bins overflowing, and windows still broken
Em C
who wants to live in this labyrinth
C D
to find the way out they need education
C Em
but some things sound better when said to yourself
Em C
The mother of triplets is having another,
D Em
she cant look after the ones that she has.
Em C
She hopes that they’ll grow up and help one another,
D Em
maybe to somebody’s purse or a bag.
C D
Bins overflowing, and windows still broken
Em C
who wants to live in this labyrinth
C D
to find the way out they need education
C Em
but some things sound better when said to yourself
Em C
Police are all frightened to enter the area,
D Em
totally oblivious to what might be wrong.
Em C
A young man lies bleeding, stabbed by his playmates
D Em
some one should publicise what’s going on.
C D
Bins overflowing, and windows still broken
Em C
who wants to live in this labyrinth
C D
to find the way out they need education
C Em
but some things sound better when said to yourself
Em C
Maybe its just me, but I don’t think so,
D Em
that things were better when I was young
Em C
Looks like our values have been overtaken,
D Em
nobody cares that the damage is done.
C D
Bins overflowing, and windows still broken
Em C
who wants to live in this labyrinth
C D
to find the way out they need education
C Em
but some things sound better when said to yourself
Em C
You politicians just don’t give a bugger,
D Em
as long as your pockets and coffers are full.
Em C
You turn all the people face down in the gutter,
D Em
and bugger them senseless each day till you come!!!!

Re: Ghost train (2 replies, posted in Songwriting)
Thanks dino I feel the rhythm of the train as I play this ,Pavlides songs are hard to translate to English as many of his lyrics are quite surreal I was luck enough to be one of the support acts to one of his gigs a few years back ,really nice guy .

Some time ago I mentioned translating a Greek song to English this is what I came up with it has a very different feel and style to the original but my friends say it still captures the meaning
Mods I dont know if this breaks any rules but if it does I apologise ,just let me know and I'll delete it ,Pavlos's management received the translation last year and didn't voice any complaints to me or restrictions other asking me if I planned to release it on cd which I don't

Hope you like it

Re: Digitech Trio (60 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
Jim it was an art festival at Kendal I did a half hour there several folk type acts a dance troop and a band that sounded a bit like the red hot chillie peppers.I played next to last.
Dino thanks for the positive comments
Russell yeah I know what you mean but we had a problem during the set up time and had had to rush the sound check a bit.Due to the way I had every thing wired the soind guy only had control of the overall mix and the mic level and so culdnt raise the level of the bass and drum if I'd had time i would have fed the trio the loop and my drum machine into seperate channels then it could have been easily ballanced, but never the less the overall sound was pretty good for a first time out with the new kit.
