Well after telling Easybeat (Brian) that I haven't really written anything lately, I wrote this.  Mojo did a very good cover of it - but as I listened I thought it was missing something - so I added a verse and made a couple changes here and there.  This is my final version ( for now  wink  )
It's really kind of a true depiction of what happens to me all the time.
so here it is.....

Something To Believe In By Jim Kenyon

[G] All my life I’ve been wondering, [C]how things came to [G]be

[G]Seems there’s always been angels, [D]watching over me

When[G]ever I’ve faced trouble, I just [C] looked up to the sky

and most [G]times I've seen feathers, with my [D]troubles flying [G]by

.

[G]Life sure ain't easy,lots of[C] tests to try my [G]faith

[G] on more than one occasion angels [D]were my saving grace

When[G]ever I’ve faced trouble, I just [C] looked up to the sky

'Cause I[G] think I'll see feathers with my [D]troubles passing [G]by

.

Chorus

[G] oh we need [C]something to believe in, some[G]thing that brings us hope

[G] we need [D]something to believe in, some[C]thing to soothe our[G]soul

If I [C]was a true believer, I’d be [G]down upon my knees

and [D]thanking all my angels, for [C]watching over [G] me

[D]thanking all my angels, for [C]watching over [G] me

.

[G] In my youth I was reckless, didn’t [C]have too many [G]cares

[G]Always looking for adventures, to[D] carry me somewhere

But when[G]ever I’d faced trouble, I'd just [C] look up to the sky

and I[G] swear I’d see those feathers, with my [D]troubles flying [G]by

.

[G]now that i am older, I still [C]climb the highest [G]trees

[G] but there's times when this ol' world, can still [D]get the best of me

and when [G]life gets me down, I just [C]look to the sky and pray

I'll see [G] angel feathers coming, to [D]take my cares a[G]way

.

Chorus

[G] oh we need [C]something to believe in, some[G]thing that brings us hope

[G] we need [D]something to believe in, some[C]thing to soothe our [G]soul

If I [C]was a true believer, I’d be [G]down upon my knees

and [D]thanking all my angels, [C] watching over [G] me

[D]thanking all my angels, for [C]watching over [G] me

Out go

.

now I[C]am a true believer, and I'm [G]down upon my knees

and [D]thanking thanking all my angels, for [C]watching over [G] me

slower

yeah now I[C]am a true believer, and I’m [G]down upon my knees

and [D]thanking the good Lord for always [C]looking out for [G] me

good to know Graham
I actually bought a Mandolin about three years ago b/c it was at a lawn sale and I got it ridiculously cheap. It is beautiful - but I don't know how to play it - and I never have tried outside the first day I brought it home. It still sits in the case.   Maybe I will try using the restring.

She sounds great !  Love the Scottish  voice.
I can't believe she is unknown. The one video was done in 2010 - What the heck is taking so long for her to catch on ? ( It's sure not because of her looks smile  ! )
I thought Seeing Stars was the best of the songs.

Thanks for sharing CG>
Have a great Weekend

Beamer - read this again - pretty brilliant... my fave lines are

"Lovers and cheaters
Habitual repeaters
Brand new beginners
That don’t make them sinners"

Get some music to it - I am looking forward to it.
Great stuff !

Rain of Mercy By Jim Kenyon

Verse1

.

[G]If I close my eyes, I can [C]still [D]hear her[G] voice

and her laughter that [C]always [D] makes me [G]smile

but if I close my eyes I [C]might[D] miss the [G] sunrise

and the hope that she’ll be [D] back in a [C] little [G]while

.

Chorus

Yeah I’m [C] hoping for a [D]rain of [G] mercy

to [C]wash these cruel [D]memories [G]away

I [C]tremble just [D]thinking of to[G]morrow

as I[D] pray for one more [C] yester[G]day.

Yeah I’m[C] hoping for a [D] rain of [G]mercy

to [C]ease the pain I’ve [D]come to [G]know

you'll [C]find me drinking [D] thru my [G]sorrows

with no[D] love and [C] no place to [G]go

.

Verse 2

.

[G] If I close my eyes, I[C] still [D]feel her [G] touch

and her soft kiss that [C] always [D]felt so [G] good

but if I close my eyes I [C] might [D] miss that [G] sunrise

oh , I'd love to have her [D]back if , [C] only I [G]could

.

AHHHHH CG  _ Van The MAN !!!!!!!

One of my longtime favorites.  All of these are GREAT songs.  Two that need to be added to the  to the list - Natalia and Moondance (which in my opinion is one of the greatest performances in romantic music.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fRqgZJRtRM     Natalia

Thanks for a beautiful start to an otherwise dreary day here in upstate New York !

Have a great Weekend.

Well Done Gentleman !!!   Excellent stuff!    Phill - Marvelous compilation - perfectly mastered.  Music is a fine match to the spoken poetry. Very moving - powerful words.   Fantastic production Boys !!!   Jim

She has a very close resemblance to   Janis Joplin !

Excellent vocals - lots of passion.  Her voice in Wild and Free ( which ironically,  was my favorite on the list)  was so much different than all the others.

A very good way to start off the weekend.

Thanks CG  !
Have a great weekend!

Roger,

I have an ipad - I never knew that - what's it called so I can download it ?
also - I googled Almancil, Algarve, Portugal where you live - what a beautiful place to live !
You are fortunate to live in such an apparent paradise.
How did you come to reside there ?

Good luck on your search for the android

Thank you all - I am waiting for the announcement that has been kept secret tht when you reach 68 birthdays start to reverse the aging process.    Maybe it's a side-effect of covid 19 !

Wow   This is sadnews - but an entire education for me.  I always thought John McVey (+ wife)  and Mick Fleetwood were the founders of the band and Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined them.  I guess I missed the whole first part !!

Peatle - that is phenomenally cool that you had those personal experiences!
I read Peter's bio this am - quite interesting.  Lots of peaks and valleys.

Thanks Phill for the info, albeit, sad sad
