Thanks to all of you for your greetings and well wishes. His name is ( at the moment, anyway) Elijah Harry Kelley, his father's family being very religious, his name being Joshua! Harry after my granddaughter's late grandfather. I asked if it was after Elijah Woods and I just got funny looks! And yes a great way to bring in the new year.
Blwyddyn newydd dda I chwi gud, that's Welsh for happy new year to you all.

Happy new year Jim, I see you've started the new year in great form. I've sung it over in my mind and it works well, I love the sentiments cos you're describing how Ann and I met and fell in love 40 years ago, and still are I hasten to add.
Great song my friend, I will give it a go when I have time.

Hi Camry, welcome and rant as much as you like as long as you keep it clean! I've been solo for around 30 years after playing lead, bass and vocals in bands before that. I'd love to step into a band again but no youngsters are gonna sign up a 68 year old?
Good luck and let us know how you get on

Wow!!! I just gave it a listen, first impression....so tender, so emotional, so full of love. Your performance almost brought me to tears...your voice and guitar playing are brilliant. Your words are terrific....and you have a lovely wife, just like me. Enjoy the Christmas season and have a long happy life together.

Re: Christmas Love (3 replies, posted in Songwriting)
Nice one Jim. Kinda reminiscent of that song you did about the guy raising the bottle for his late wife? Not saying the words or tune are the same, but you have that ability to put yourself in other people's shoes and you do it so beautifully.
Homelessness is getting to be a big problem here, and we pride ourselves on our "great" welfare state. The last ten years have destroyed it, the next ten may make it disappear all together.
Thanks for raising awareness of this subject. Tastefully done.

Re: Living With The Voice Inside (13 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Oh if only it was as simple?
Nine times out of ten I get word bombed in the shower or in bed or when I'm driving and I think oh yeah that sounds good because the tune comes with the words! So I think how can I put this down so I'll remember them? I'll just keep singing them over and over till I get the chance....never happens. The fatal flaw is the second line. Once I try to get more the first line disappears and when I get to my guitar the tune has dissolved also. I don't have a waterproof phone so that solution won't work in the shower! In bed, don't want to wake her shadylip, and driving would be down right dangerous! Thanks for the suggestions though.
Ann (hershadylip, don't tell her I called her that) found a pile of Christmas, birthday and valentine's cards I made for her some years ago with, in my opinion some excellent but sloppy love poems I composed for her, I said these are great and she said yeah you used to be romantic in those days....one step forward three steps back!

I haven't mentioned this before, maybe because I didn't realise I was depressed and stressed. Neither did my doctor until I had an attack in the waiting room. I was advised to cut back on work. So I did a quick count on my daily jobs.
1. My day job, including 12 hour shifts. 2. My union duties, health and safety and representing the "naughty boys". I was also on the quality control committee and audit team. 3. My other job, gigging, which I wasn't going to give up.
So, I dropped my union duties and audit and QA. Went to hospital to have my hernia sorted then shot off on holiday to Turkey, and came back with pneumonia. But I'm right now, retired and my only worries are "will I win at bingo?" probably not

Re: NBD (13 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
Good one Phill a man has to pamper himself every now and then. A crafty mate of mine brought his wife a guitar to learn on and it just so happened that as a good husband he had no choice but to show her how good a present it was by playing it himself.
Good, sound reasoning. It's a tough job but someone has to do it? How did he get her to cut her nails?

Re: very important topic please read thanks easybeat (7 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
My grandson who is 15 has been showing some of the symptoms you've mentioned. He grew his hair long to hide his face ( I believe) and he is a handsome boy. His father bought him a bass guitar and I've tried encouraging him even asked him to join in an open mic night with me and some friends to no avail.
He had a bad accident some years ago where he had a fractured skull, so with that and his parents splitting up and he's a shy kid and very intelligent a self confessed nerd and recluse, we all worry about him. He has in recent months come out a bit even gone on a date!!! He's cut his hair and I've tried getting him interested in my new bass....I can see from your post that we need to get him to open up. So thanks for your post, my eyes have been opened.

Nice one Ed, after spending a shedfull of cash on furniture and a load more on a flight to Israel, I think you deserve a little compensation for your charitability and understanding. 300 bucks is a drop in the ocean in comparison?

Thanks Jim, I think I deserved a little pampering seeing as she spends most of my time looking around dress shops. No, she's good really. There was a slight wobble at first, she's good now...lol
Hi Richard. Official photos on guitar guitar.com. I'll try and post my own pics when I can force myself to put it down, which will be sometime after Wednesday when it arrives.
