Happy cold old February to you too !
I have done what you described - thinking " I'm a genius" only to discover there are 10 songs that already play that sequence. However, wht I do like is to noodle around with them and then just change a few chords or change the strum and come up with something of my own. The great music analyzer Strummerboy Bill once told us in a post -" it's what we all do, steal a bit here and there, make a few changes, and call it our own !
I sure miss Bill .
I'm working on learning California Dreamin' by the Mamas and Papas ---seems appropriate song right now as I look out my window at snow falling and 20 degrees showing on the thermometer.
Just remember every Feb day is one step closer to summertime!! (at least in the Northern Hemisphere!)
Take care - and say Hello to Ann for me !

you tube made a change - it has something to do with is the content suitable for children. If it isn't - no comments are allowed. It's something like that - but I'm not totally sure.

This guy is excellent !!!
I came across this one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVaEEJBwuXc as I was listening to the others you listed.
It is so good!
these are the lyrics to it
Drift away, from your worries
Drift away, from all your cares
The storm is raging, it’ll be over soon
Let it go and drift away
Carry on, through the hard times
Carry on, through the strife
The darkness is fading, it’ll be morning soon
Let it go and carry on
When you don’t know what to do
When you don’t know who to be
When you don’t know where to go
When the end is so hard to see
Drift away, from your worries
Drift away, from all your cares
The storm is raging, it’ll be over soon
Let it go and drift away
When you don’t know what to do
When you don’t know who to be
When you don’t know where to go
When the end is so hard to see
Thanks for this gold mine of great music.

Topic: Song I wrote - Inspired by Russell (1 replies, posted in Songwriting)
I listened to Russell and his boys play the song Pawnee Creek ( no lyrics).
I could not get that out of my head for about two days.
I wrote these lyrics to it and finally added some chords.
I could never be able to play like those guys bc I'm not a very good musician so I just tried to give it a fast rhytym like their song was.
Anyway here it is.
I put my capo on 4th fret

I couldn’t get your tune out of my head- tells me its really good
Spent this morning working on the lyrics more
Here’s what I came up with { I have no clue what chords you guys were plying - this is just how I play it. I'm not much of a musician}
Feel free to trash it, change it, or use it
It’s just my interpretation of your music
I tried to play it fast like you guys were.
I had a capo on the 2nd fret also

Russell
I was thinking that as I listened. I was hoping for a old west storyline - as the Title Pawnee Creek suggested that to me right off the bat.
good luck with the lyrics.
as I listened to it I had this little verse pop in my head....
up in the Northland near Pawnee creek
I fell in love for about a week
she was a hard luck woman with killer eyes
her heart was warm, but full of lies
if you would like - I think i might be able to come up with more if I listen to a few more times.
Let me know - I'm certainly not trying to step on any toes here - I just like it a lot - just offering some of my thoughts after listening to it. ![]()
