Hi ,
Don't know about nightmares and such , but does anyone else ever wake themselves up laughing ?? Sometimes I sleep right through , but my laughing wakes my wife up and she says that sometimes I'm laughing and giggling so hard that it gets her going too ... How bizzare is that ?? The worst part is that most of the time I can't remember what I was laughing about ...
Sure wish I could remember , since it would probably be a hoot , L O L ....

Hey Norm ,
Yeah , years ago , I was crazy for fishing .. I had my boat on the lake every weekend .. Most of the time , it was just me and my girl ( german shepard ) .. We loved it .. Only problem was , she liked being in the water more than being in the boat , and have you ever tried getting a hundred pound dog back in the boat in the middle of the lake ?? But I guess I liked being in the water too , because I started scuba diving about a dozen years ago , and now when I'm on the lake , I'm in it , L O L ....... So I guess I have more fun looking at them fish than trying to catch them , L O L .......

Hey Doc , Ya know , I can't think of just one CD I would want to have with me , so could I just have one of my accoustic guitars instead , L O L ??? ( and maybe a fiddle ? ) .........

Hey Roger ,
Some folks say that the bathroom is a very good place for singing , accoustics wise , L O L ..... But I guess it's no good if you just don't feel like singing at present ...
BTW , thank you very much for the offer to put my Greensleeves recording up somewhere ... I've been very busy , and just saw it the other day ... When I get around to digging it out I'll let you know ..
Thanks again ..........

Arkady ,
Yes that recording did turn out very nice .. I used a touch of chorus on the guitar picking , the viola with no effects and then the violin with a little chorus also .. People who heard it said it sounded as if there was an orchestra behind the guitar ..
Some day I would love to get some of my stuff up somewhere and share it , ( particularly my original stuff ) , but that is so far beyond my tech capabilities at this time .. I am gonna go through my old recordings and find that Greesleeves instrumental though , and who knows , some day ??
Thanks for the encouragement ......

My first was " Where have all the Flowers Gone " , ( Peter , Paul and Mary ) ....
Hey Arkady , Greenleeves is a tune that will always be dear to me .. Once in a while at jams I will do an instrumental picking version of it ... A long time ago I also recorded an instrumental version but on that recording I played guitar ( picking ) and then I also added violin and viola parts to it ... Just always loved that tune ....

Gotta be Milwaukees Best Light .... Nobody's fridge keeps it cold enough for me so I always got my cooler full of beer and ice .. If we're playing a bar , then I settle for Miller Light on tap .. Same thing as the M B L , just costs more , L O L ....

Hey Les ,
I use the same technique on the guitar as I use on the fiddle ... Pivot at the wrist and simpy roll the finger back and forth on the string you're fretting ... Just have to have the finger almost over the fret to get effect ... Works for me ... If you get a chance to watch a fiddle player do this , you'll get the idea ... Hope this helps ....

Well , that was'nt near as bad as I thought it would be .. Thought that I'd have my ____ kicked all over this forum for dissagreeing with popular opinion .. Just goes to show what a great group of people we have here ... Nice to see that a couple folks agreed with me though , including our resident one man band ...
Thanks Southpaw ....

Boy , I'm going with Russell and Last Reb on this one ... I think the game ( if you need to call it that ) , had been out for about a year and a half before I even knew what it was ... I remember my little bro. talking about how he heard a bunch of electritions on his job site talking about how they had finally mastered some riff and he thought , wow , other guitar players ... Then he realized what they were talking about and just walked away shaking his head . That's how I feel about it too .. If you wanna play guitar then pay your dues and play guitar ... If you wanna play a video game then just play pong , L O L ....
I'm sure I'll catch it for stating my opinion , but that's OK because we can all agree to disagree sometimes ...

Hey Ken ,
Like anything else , I guess you can spend as much as you want on violin strings ... Some are much higher priced than what your wife bought .. They do however make a difference in the overall performance of the violin ... I don't spend more than 20.00 US .. for the perlons that I use on some of mine and the plain steel that I like on the others are cheaper yet ...
It is amazing though , how much you can spend if you want to , L O L ...
I hope the shock wore off after you heard her play it with the new strings .....

My question is : Are there any players out there that this has never happened to ?? Not so bad when you're just playing at home , but I had that happen to me one night when my partner and I were playing at a bar ... It was awfull .. I kept glancing over at my partner expecting to see weird looks coming from him , but nothing ... Even my wife in the audience was oblivious .... It took a lot for me not to just put my guitar down and walk away , but then I could'nt do that either ... as the night went on it just went away ... Maybe it was the three or four beers , L O L .... Afterwards everyone said the music was great , so is it just in our heads when this happens ??

Hi colin ,
I keep a Dean Markley " Pro Mag " in my gig case for times when someone shows up with a straight accoustic and needs more volume .... Just slips in the sound hole and sounds great .... Cost about 45.00 when I bought it ... You don't have to change strings to use one of these magnetic pickups ... ( unless you're using nylons I suppose ) Everyone who has used it loves it ....

Ken ,
Four or five ?? How old are you ?? I was quite a bit older than that when I was enjoying the music and the program ....
Here I go putting my two cents in again ... By " manufactured bands " , I assume you mean that they were brought together for the TV show ?? Be that as it may , each of those boys was an excellent musician in his own right ... Even Micky , who was a right handed guitarist trained for the show to be a left handed drummer , did an excellent job ...Just a pity they were never allowed to perform their own stuff ...
In my opinion , one could do far worse than aspiring to be as good a musician as each of them were ........
   Again , just my opinion and my two cents , L O L ...

Thanks Southpaw ,
I also have never heard of a lot of problems with the behringer stuff ... For some reason it's just that unit , but my brother has'nt had any problems with it since so I think I'll buy it ... Powered speakers would be great , but I just spent money on all new speakers this summer for our other powered mixer so think we'll stay with this type of rig for now ....
   Thanks again .....

Anyone have any experience with the Behringer PMP2000 powered mixer ?? Have a chance to buy a used one ( good price ) for our little band but have heard that they have been a lot of trouble .. This one is about four months old and has already had the warranty replacement circut board installed ...... Any help ?? We could use the extra power and monitor control bank ...

Thank you James ...
You took the words right out of my mouth , I have also read that tablature is the oldest form of written music ..
Since the person who started this thread is no longer around , I can only assume that he must have found a website used by " REAL musicians ", L O L .... I rarely use tab myself , rather work stuff out on my own , but I still respect any means to communicate music ........

Hi Ben ...
When I first started with fiddle , I found the best way to practice was with a guitar player ... I found it was a lot easier to get the fingering right when you're playing along with another instrument ... Even songs you like on CD work great ..
Otherwise ( unless you hear in perfect pitch ) when you're practicing solo , it's all too easy to be playing slightly flat and not even be aware of it ... Besides , it's really fun playing fiddle along with a guitar .......

Hey Zurf ,
I had an experience not unlike yours last summer ... There's a pawn shop that I drive by two or three times a week in the summer and I decided to stop one day ... Right away I saw a nice little black Oscar Schmidt 335 copy .. Price 150.00 ... Really tempted too because I play a black 330 copy and always wanted one like it to keep tuned different ...
Well I asked what bottom dollar was and the gal said the price is on it ( and was'nt very nice about it ) , and when I asked to plug it in and try it out it seemed like a lot of bother for her , L O L .. Anyway I left without buying it , but every time I drove by there I wanted to stop and buy the thing anyway .... About two weeks later I decided to go buy it and it was gone ..... So I say buy the bass then decide if you want to keep it .... Wish I had done just that , L O L ..

Hi Guys ,
I've always used boiled linseed oil .. You can get it at any hardware store and it's real good for the wood .. Whenever I restring , I dob it on with a clean cloth and let it sit a bit then wipe off the excess , usually do that twice then restring .. It's good for the wood and looks nice for some time after ........

Hey Doll ,
Soon as I saw this topic , it reminded me of one of my all time favorite songs , " A Little Good News Today " by Ann Murray .. She has to be one of my favorite female vocalists .. And that song hits the nail right on the head !!
Sometimes days go by when I don't even watch or listen to the news because it does seem like it's all bad .. Or more likely like someone else here mentioned , the good news is'nt sensational enough for the media to want to report it .. To me that's even more disturbing because it seems to be the measure of what our society is coming to .. When I need good news , I just look at my pretty little wife , family and friends and of course music ..
