Hooked on this song at the moment!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikzQmC3S-mE "Got to be True To Myself" Excellent song! Just found it yesterday and worked out the guitar this morning. It's easy to play but I'll be listening to it all day to get the lyrics timed correctly and memorized!  C#, G#, A#m, F# All the way through with a little riff in the chorus between the G# & A#m that goes like this...

E  ---1-4---2-1------------
A  -4-------------4---------

I'm a finish contractor. I usually take over a house after rough in has been completed. I started the business 10 years ago... We handle drywall, painting, moldings, tile & hardwood flooring, cabinets, and pretty much anything else...lol. Also do a allot of insurance work... Burnouts, flood damage and such.

Hey Southpaw, This is a goldmine! Some of this stuff I haven't seen before and will have to acquire. I've never considered looping... But know that I think about it, it would be perfect for me. I do play with a band but we don't cover allot of my musical interest. I'm more or less just doing it for the experience and friends. I'd really like to develop my own music but it's hard to get someone to sit down and understand what sound I want or even to find people willing to help with backing of my own recordings. I do more singer songwriter type stuff any way and only need mild backgrounds going. I think I'll give this a shot. I may have some questions for you soon though...lol Thanks for posting this! Peace!  -Chris

I cover allot of diffrent artist and a wide range of music but the artists that I cover most are Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Bob Marley, Donovan Frankenrieter, Sublime, Gratefull Dead, and Tom Petty. I'm starting to do allot of John Butler trio but can only play Zebra and Good Excuses by him at the moment but others are in the works.

I agree, I was referring to them smile I'm not a fan of him though...lol

The poster of the first vid has added them to his info box on youtube.

Honky Tonk Bedonkadonk.  Just about as stupid of a song as there has ever been written for Country music, and that's saying something.  Flat out dopey.  And it went way up the charts and stayed there, too.  Go figure.

You got to love the video though....lol

what sort of tool?

And there are a lot of songs that sound better on acoustic. It probably depends what sort of music you play and what you like your guitar to sound like.

Ken

Tool is a band...;)

Please take the time to look at this site  http://www.grouptherapy.guernsey.net/strumming.html  It has multiple patterns all arranged by the songs they are used in! It even has an audio sample carrying you through them. I'm sure you'll love it!

Welcome to Chordie! Peace! -Pix

Man.... you are nuts - and even though I haven't met her, your wife must be an angel!

I will NOT store your old piano... but if it takes up too much room, I will store some of your "spare" gits!

Congrats on the find and good luck in your new restoration project my friend big_smile

Oh come on man You said you'd store my musical gear! What's up with that?   lol

I've been wanting a piano for awhile now. Used to play around with one when I was younger. Luckily a good friend of mine runs a music store that specializes in restoring pianos but he won't be back in state for a few weeks.
Yea, She's an angel! I've got my own music room off to one side of the house that stores all my equipment so she really doesn't mind much...I Think...  Now when I first took her sunroom and turned it into a music room she wasn't too happy but I think she's about over that. It came at a costs though. I had to sale the Billiard table and give her my game room back. It's ok though I spend all my time playing guitar not pool anyway. Peace! -Pix

She says she's cute too...lol     I'd have to agree!

I went to the local Food Lion today to pick up some groceries and bought a Piano! It was on a trailer in the parking lot and the old man told me I could have it for $40 and he'd carry it by my house... It's an antique upright saloon piano made by Conway Boston. Does anybody here know anything about pianos? It appears to be very well built from solid mahogany. It's all original except for the covering of 5-6 keys that have been replaced over the years. The original keys actually look and feel like real ivory. It does need refinishing but hey that's what I do for a living. Any info you could offer would be appreciated! Peace! -Pix

Guitarpix ... how many hours are in your day bro?!? lol ... that's a darn Woodstock show!  But I like the Drivinn N Cryin ... they are AWESOME for modern rock/acoustic type stuff ... alot of peeps dont know about them ... they remind me alot of The Black Crowes type stuff ... "Straight to Hell" is my fav or "Lets Go Dancing"

lol...That's only about 2 1/2 hrs. worth of music. I play on average 3 hrs a day and on weekends that easily reaches 6-7hrs of playtime! Music really has become my life since I picked up the guitar...lol

Yea Drivin' n' Cryin' s great! My favorites/The ones I play are Straight to hell, Honeysuckle Blue, With The People, Peacemaker, and Fly Me Couragous. They used to perform alot here in my younger days and their concerts were always the place to be! Peace!-Pix

I prefer the fuller sound of Barre chords. I guess my style would be percussive as I like to add alot of taps and chops to my music. I like the added sustain of open chords for some songs though. I'm also playing alot of fingerpicking at the moment (Ben Harper and James Taylor).  I play about 90% acoustic but even when playing electric I very seldom use power chords. Sweet Jane and Outside Looking In by Staind are the only songs I can think of that I play power chorded...

As Far as my preffered genre... Let's take yesterday for example... Sitting around playing I played Several Jack Johnson tunes ( Go On, Sittin Waiting Wishing, Gone, Flake Banana Pancakes, If I had Eyes, If I could, Rodeo Clowns, Breakdown and so forth..) Played a few by Animal liberation Orchestra (Girl I Wanna Lay You Down and Plastic Bubble) Played some Sublime, OCMS, Jimmy Buffet, Donovan Frankenreiter, Verve Pipe, Third Eye Blind, BNL, Harper, Drivin' n' Cryin', Everlast, James Taylor, Oasis, etc... As you can tell I spent all day yesterday outside sitting in the shade with the guitar...lol That should give you a good Idea of my preferred genre though. Sorry for the long responce smile As you can tell I'm a little bored at the moment...Peace! -Pix

Don't mean to steal the thread but.. Southpaw A few months back you posted a link to a song by an Irish or scottish group. I think the name was something like green sea lucky or lukee or something like that..lol. In the video they're all in a bar and a old man is pushing a boat down the road. I've searched the forum and can't find the thread but would love to have that link again! Peace! -Pix

A clean damp cloth (100% cotten) followed by a dry cloth is the recommended cleaning method. Be warry of polishes as they sometimes contain wax and a build up can hender top vibrations and effect tone. Also be sure to check that whatever you put on your guitar does not contain silicon (alot of polishes contain this) Silicon never dries and will leave a permanet residue on your guitar causing problems down the road with future repairs. It makes refinishing a nightmare and can effect the bond of glues used for repairs such as bridge replacements. You may never have need of any of this but is it really worth the risk if you can avoid it... Peace! -Pix

I used to use chordies top 100 song list religously. It was one of my favorite features as it was a great resource for song ideas. I have to say it has been sorly missed these past few months as it never updates... Is this a permanet problem? I only ask because I've seen this same problem posted several times and I still check it almost every day to no avail.. -Pix
