Cannot for the life of me remember what song this one line is from:...a little bit of that looks good to me....  Help anybody Benn

Benn - You're going to have to help me out here - Any idea who it might be? Is it rock? Is it Country? or what? Throw me a bone dude!

I think NADA SOU SOU, SHIMA-UTA are on 911 tabs...I googled hana and this site http://lyrics.dainutekstai.lt had the lyrics and said the chords would be out soon. Hope this helps!

First - John Prine's In Spite of Ourselves - Pretty much the whole song (I tried but couldn't pick out just one line)
next, Jackson Browne's Ready or Not - My baby's feeling funny in the morning; she's having trouble fitting into her jeans.
Finally, James Keelaghan's Clod Missouri Waters - Sky had turned red, smoke was boiling, 200 yards to safety, death was 50 yards behind (whole song found under Artist Cry Cry Cry)

Hey Jets60,

John Prine is one of my all time favorites, I haven't seen him in years, but back in the day, I saw him several times, I think I first saw him in Galax Virginia at an outdoor event called "Stompin 76" that was in 1976, thats why I can always remember it, he was fantastic live, by himself to begin with, then later I think it was David Bloomberg and Bonnie Raitt came out and played a while with him. "Hello in There is one of his all time greats, I love how he can make a song out of the most simple things, and has a way of describing things that we can all relate to, I would call him, and I hate to rate things", but I'd call hi8m at least my 3rd favorite songwriter of all time, only behind Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, then John Prine, and thouigh many may not know him, but I'd also though a guy by the name of Charlie Gearheart from Goose Creek Symphony in there.

Cam

Thanks Cam - I've been a big Jackson Browne fan since back in the day. I saw him in Germany while I was in the USAF back in 1983 if I remember correctly. Great show in a room about the size of a middle school gym. It was a great treat! I look up Charlie Gearheart too. My first exposure to John Prine was a few years  ago when my mom made me listen to In Spite of Ourselves and I've been a fan ever since.

Hey Thanks Jeff,

As you can probably tell I'm still suffering from the nasty cold or swine flu or whatever.I wanted to try my new mic out so I went with it anyway.

I think the amazing thing about "Hello in There" is John was in his mid twenties when he wrote it. I was a senior in High School then and it was somethin special when his first album come out. There was a group of us Prino"s that new the words to all the Prine songs.

Hey Jets, if you like "Hello In There"  check out  "The Dutchman" by Steve Goodman. It was one of the few songs covered by Steve. It was written by Michael Smith. It really tells a story of an old man with Dimentia after world war 2.It is a great love story.
Steve Goodman and John Prine were best friends and John has some wonderful stories and things to say about Steve.

I saw John at the Redrock Amphitheatre last June and It was one of the best treats I've had!

Thanks Wayne. I'll check it out. I'm always looking for new music. I'm a big Shawn Mullins fan too and he has some get you thinking songs as well.

I've just been having a heck of a good time playing a lot of John Prine's songs. Man can he write a great song. My current favorite is Hello in There. It makes me think of what an inconsiderate jerk of a son I was when my dad was around. I was too busy living my life to come back home and spend hardly any time with my old man. Now that he's not around I don't have that option. Anyway, a song that can connect like that did its job and Mr. Prine is a master at it.

He's a pretty straight up guy and I missed the chance to see him a while back in the DC area. I'm hoping to get down to Austin where he performs regularly. One thing I saw in the video of Midnight Train that may help, I think he was playing with a capo on the 3rd fret. Best I can do but good luck.

Hey StranSong - Great song - reminds me of the bittersweet feelings I have for where I grew up too although it doesn't have quite as storied history as Belfast. It had a Baker Street feel about it how I was playing if you know that song. I'd love to hear your version.

Just saw/heard him do a few songs on the Jimmy Fallon Late night show last night. Father and Son was just as I remembered. Nice to see him back.

I recommend you just write him. It's an older song of his and he might be able to help you out with a pointer or two. Go to dardensmith.com and let him know you're looking to learn how to play it. He's on MySpace as well. Good luck. By the way, I really love his song Satisfied...I can relate to that one.

Thanks Zurf - Really looking forward to it.

I came to chordie when I was first learning to play the guitar. I learned by looking up the songs I grew up hearing, tinkering with them, figuring them out and challenging myself. That gave me the motivation I needed to push myself and try and learn more. Without chordie I would never have written a song much less recorded one. I have a long ways to go as a musician but I enjoy music now so much more because of chordie. My good friends Roger, James as well as the rest of the chordie faithful helped me along and I am very grateful but I never could have found chordie without the vision of Per. Thanks.

Pix, I think it’s a tough comparison. I like both for different reasons but I truly wish I had been exposed to more Bob Marley growing up. Radio stations play what’s popular and up in western NC you had top 40 pop, R&B, country and that's about it other than public radio which was never played at my house growing up. You know I never heard a Bob Marley tune turned into bluegrass but that would be a hoot to hear, don't you think?

For me I like to read, play soccer and go hiking in the mountains.

I agree it is a great compliment to the songwriter and the band as well as a great way to make more money on their song, but for the listener who may have liked the original meaning of the song it kind of takes away from your memories. At least that is the way I feel. It all depends on your perspective I guess.

I really used to like Still the One by Orleans but it got way overplayed on the radio and then one of the big 3 TV networks used it as their New Fall promo song...kind of a shame too.

Hey Zurf- My calendar is marked! Looking forward to it!  I thought old newbie was in Dumfries? If he's in Haymarket I can give him a ride.

Hey KajiMa - Glad to help...huge number of songs there too - all Irish Folk songs...I'll be visiting  there a lot as well.  smile

You might find them at www.martindardis.com. I was just looking through the site and it has quite a bit of Irish Music with chords, some by Celtic Thunder but I didn't see the songs you mentioned in your original post. - Good luck

Hey Zurf - My favorite place for that is Lewis Campground up in Shenandoah Nat Park or heck I got a big enough deck but you know it is going to start getting warm by June. How does Lewis Campground sound? It's just south of Big Meadows not far from the Sperryville entrance. You're up in Leesburg if I remember right so your place would be good too.

Very nice, I like how it sounds . Is  there a story behind the song? Kind of sad and tragic.

I'll go old school and say you can not go wrong with The Righteous Brothers Unchained Melody.

It is not the easiest song to play but the chords are not too tough in my opinion. It is one of my favorite love songs and I bet it would do the trick for you.

This is a great song and tribute you’re written there, Robert. It kind of reminds me of a John Prine song I like called Hello in There about elderly people who seem to get forgotten by society. Glad to see you are not letting it happen with your Mom.

Thanks Ark and Russ - I'm bad about the yard too but I like it long. The wife usually does most of the cleaning but I pitch in from time to time when she gets fed up. Getting back in physical shape after being out of it for a while is a pain....quite literally. But better than the alternative I guess.

Yep - Joe Bonamassa does good guitar. He's got some music that will really take you away

Pix - I should have specified Jessica Riddle whose last name is Jacobs now that she is married but I think is still around I didn't know the other one. Lisa Hannigan used to (and I think still does from time to time) back up Damian Rice. I hadn't seen the videos of Brett Bennen and Rick Seibolds. Thanks for that, kind of makes them more real if you know what I mean. The rest are all well worth a listen in my opinion. They’re maybe not for everyone but I like them all.
