Lost Highway - Hank Williams

Hit the Road Jack - I think it is a Ray Charles song
Road Runner - by the A-Cads
Yup its Ray Charles...theres another one he did called 'Lonely Avenue'. I know thats not technically ROAD, but same idea.
Heres some more:
Red Dirt Road- Brooks and Dunn
Lonely Road of Faith- Kid Rock
Gypsy Road- Cinderella
Down the Road I Go- Travis Tritt
Nowhere Road- Willie Neslon, Waylon Jennings from the Outlaws! album with Jessi Colter and Tompall Glaser
Copperhead Road- Steve Earle
Crossroad Blues- Robert Johnson right??
My dad got me started with three chords and a G scale... the rest I've learned jamming with the radio and getting tabs from here ![]()
Idk if hes playing open or not but Ive noticed when Im playin' along that hes in E alot.
I've always liked Alison Krauss and LZ goes without saying. I always thought the combination was a little wierd though. I guess I've held a bit of a grudge against the pair thinking Plant should be out with Led Zepplin, But after hearing thier performance I think I need to check it out. Yes The sound T bone had as well as some of the stuff on youtube sounds real good.
I was sort of the same way. They both have amazing voices... but not two I'd expect to mix well. I was pleasently surprised.
well its nice to know it had a positive effect on somebody out there...
Diddleys was made out of a cigar box right?
YOU'VE CURSED ME. I couldn't play anything right tonight. And God forbid a song have an Bm or a B7 in it. Granted, those are related to the Evil B, but aren't in and of themselves evil.
- Zurf
Too weird Bm's one of my favorite chords. Barre trouble perhaps?
Some days you have it and some days you don't. Can't explain... well maybe someone out there would know how to explain it but I can't. don't get discouraged it'll come back again. One thing I do know if my fingers are cold or my fingernails or too long or some slight difference with YOU not the guitar it can make a bigger difference than you would think.
you HAVE to check out the Raconteurs... And of course if you haven't the associated bands. The White Stripes and the Greenhornes are both great and so is Brendan Benson as far as that goes. Mars Volta is good, but its in spanish, and another one's Kings of Leon. Gov't Mule's one that I like but its more bluesy (well most of thier stuff is they're actually pretty versatile), but the guitar work is awesome with those guys.
And of course you can't go wrong with the classic: a healthy zeppelin collection is always a rock n roll essential ![]()
Hope you find something you like,
Hannah
One of my favorites! Great link ![]()

Well like Hendrix said, the blues is easy to PLAY...just hard to feel ![]()
I wonder if skynyrd will hang up thier hats now...
Its a shame. That band keeps dying off a man at a time, they have a knack for tragedy seems like.
aw badeye you took mine lol...
hows about Alabama, The Kentucky Headhunters, The Georgia Sattelites, and That Lil' Ol' Band from Texas ought to get something like an honorable mention.
Not sure if Howlin' Wolf counts as a BAND name, but its after an animal.
Cool... sounds like the dot is a good choice then. Its gotten good reviews pretty much everywhere I've looked.
Well I haven't ever really got to play with one, but I have a friend who swears they're the best semi-hollow body out there so I've been looking for local dealers. I've always loved the sound of one, and the look... perhaps I would be dissapointed (not that I can afford one anyway). I'm looking at an epi archtop with dual humbuckers that seems like a pretty good deal for the price.
used to be the MArtin d35 but i played a taylor this guy payed 2000 bucks for that was like heaven. Dont know the exact model because I didn't get to hold it long lol. I want a Gretsch semi hollowbody too as far as that goes...
I got three slides... glass, chrome and bronze. Havin' lots of fun with 'em. My little sister got an iPod and I'm supposed to fill it up for her. She wants blues and jazz and alot of BB King(how cool of a request is that from a 12 year old??). And I didn't really get it FOR Christmas, but I bought with my christmas money the LEd Zeppelin II vynyl.
Hey thanks for all the help, and all the links were great. Now I want a dobro lol...
My dad got me some dunlop slides for christmas, one glass, one bronze, one chrome. I want to start learning to play this style... I'm assuming the best way is to tune it to open E, which I did like this:
E
B
G#
E
B
E
I've been playing 'In My Time of Dying" by Led Zep., and I have 'She Talks to Angels' by the Black Crowes... What are some fairly simple songs to learn that use slide in open tunings?? ALSO, anything if there's anything important I need to know, or even tips for a beginner anyone knows/has, I'd appreciate the advice.
Merry Christmas,
LR
I play in church every sunday, but me and one other guitarist and a guy on bass did a special last sunday night and I was nervous too.... people at church are generally a very supportive audience though, and the one good thing is they're alot less likely to call you out on any mistakes than somebody say at a bar, or who payed for a ticket. One thing I can say from experience, you're wise to bring the acoustic, because you never know what kind of set up you're gonna get into. The one thing you DO NOT want is to have to plug into a sound booth that somebody else is controlling, i always bring my own.
exactly the same as sweet home alabama... actually i saw him on VH1, and he made that song using the records of sweet home, werewolves in london, and take the money and run. Kinda neat for a dj thang,
take it easy,
LR
Yeah i always moved up and down when i played cuz i thought it sounded different too... people started griping at me when i first started playing, told me you have to play right on the whole... but hey i was watching Lightnin Hopkins and he moved up and down too so I stuck with it. But yeah, there's a definite difference, to me anyway
thanks a ton man! This is a good song anyway...
yea badeye lightnin's got some cool stuff. I have some mp3s if u need any,
Take it easy,
LR
I can't find any tabs!! I'd like to have trouble in mind, and if possible there's one called Rollin' Blues...
Thanks in advance!,
