Well Gina
It started, this topic, after reading an article why some bands play like as if they hypnotise people.
I am quit good in this act. I used it a lot while still working, but at what price. I was empty.
You won't believe if I told you what I found. Using hypnosis, the first treatments, 3 in most cases, you can send a 50 year old person back to the past, like when he was 5 years. It's called regression.
THE RESULTS I GOT, AND I COULD CHECK WERE AMAZING. HE TOLD THINGS 100% CORRECT.
In Belgium, you are only allowed to do this if you are a MD, or do psychology because you are "messing" with subconscience, and when they wake up, I saw it twice, panic, hysterical reactions, which can be treated by administration of a drug, but I discovered that with 1 finger snap, they returned in hypnosis, and than it's up to you to give "suggestions", and when he's awake again, it takes only a few minutes, he doesn't remember at all how he reacted. YOU REALLY NEED TO BE VERY SKILLED. Everyone can do this, but....

Well Charlotte, I do agree. U2, before RATTLE and HUM, or JOSHUA TREE, well I don't understand how they started to be poular with albums like OCTOBER, in fact their first albums.
They told me, being back stage doc on one of the biggest ROCK EVENTS, that they owe a lot to the man who organised their concerts, and even not liking them, live=very good. Their success story, talking international started in fact here in BELGIUM.
What about James BLUNT. He sold millions of albums, everyone telling HOW GREAT, followed by a kind of overexposure, and listening to him was NOT longer DONE.
He has a brandnew album, and again a MILLION SELLER.
So who are those people: liars, hypocrites? They praised him, adored him at first, and now again.

I, make a difference between guitar players, strumming, and those who play finger picking.
I am jealous. I play acoustic, using a plectrum, or pick.
What fascinates me is the fact that a certain % of players use a coin, like 1 cent or 20 cent to play.
It sounds to METALLIC for me, or am I wrong?
A long time ago, before the "synthetic" picks, a lot of players used a piece of the shell of a turtle.
Are there still guitar players using a turtle pick.
What also works is to cut out of an expired bank card, a kind of pick.

Ken, my friend, I was so busy yesterday. You know that kind of days, unexpected people on unexpected moments, and the more I think about it, the more are the odds that I wrote it, without pushing SUBMIT.
I am, finally busy to try and put some songs here. I have hundreds, empty lyrics, lalala & lyrics, some with lyrics.
What is strange here: the fact that when I start a song, it takes very little time.
I just posted a song, written in 2001, yep, 6 months after my crash. I have at least a dozen of songs about this event. It makes sense, it changed my life, it ruined my life, I was proud, good looking (so they say, the woman), a fancy expensive car (you have to see this as my living room, spending more hours in my car) I was quit popular, all girlfriends, 15-25 years younger, a ** you mentality, going where I wanted to go, and in a split second = finished. I started again, even more motivated than when I finished my studies, and where usual patients grow with their doctor, my patients 75% = 18-25 years. Strange, and 3 years later, I had 25 patients a day, still growing. I stopped working, I couldn't stand the pain, I lived on pain killers, and was destructing myself. There was no other solution Ken, and I was insured so high, that, it will start soon, I will earn more money, than I earned working. As long as you can prove everything. What I don't understand is the fact that if you have mental problems, you get nothing. I just have to show one x-ray, and everyone stops talking. So a lot of these songs are about this event. The one I posted now, is one of my favourites.

Don't be shy to answer this topic.
I ONLY WANTED TO KNOW if there are chordians, playing in a band, who are able to live a better FINANCIAL life, by performing.
If I should play on the street, in the USA, on a good spot, where a lot of people pass, is it LEGAL, and if yes, there must be at least a few, who played on the street, and if it's worth to play for a few hours, not as a beginner, but knowing enough chords and songs to do this.

jay, it looks as we have a similar problem. I have 23 guitars. If somebody asks me to keep 3 of them:
- PRS CUSTOM 24
- PRS EG S-S-S (s= single coil)
- MARTIN HD 28 (or my D-45V)
I have a Fender 1964 original USA = fortune.
Gibson Les Paul Custom 1968 (first year, after they stopped the production) = a lot of $$$
A GIBSON SJ-200 Montana Gold custom shop, a DOVE, and Hummingbird.
I am 52 years old, disabled caused by a car crash, I can't walk without crutches. I have 1 daughter, no music, and sometimes I consider to sell my strat, having that money, you can buy very easy, the most expensive Fender, PRS and GIBSON in a guitar store, and still put 5000$ on my account.

Right you are. I have a TELECASTER, CUSTOM reissue 1952, with a great sound. My hands are small too, and taking another guitar, I am able to play more and better.
PRS has very great guitars.
In a music store, here in Belgium, they have a wall with hand prints. Also a set of prints of a great and world famous guitar player and yes there is still hope for me, my hands are an EXACT match. His name: .JAN AKKERMAN, best guitar player in the world somewhere in the Seventies. You can see him, listen to him, and judge him on YOUTUBE.
He plays on a "langcaster", an unknown brand for me, but she looks pretty good.

I do like CCR ZZ-Top, driving in a car, mile after mile.
I DON'T LIKE THE ALWAYS TANNED and THEIR ALWAYS PERFECT HAIR, WHITE TEETHED BOYS BANDS, like Boyzone.
RAP, some songs I like, but I hate all the ***bands. Their songs, after removing all their ****would change into a song using 1 word: YO, yeh Yo, takaboom, tak YO, my brother in law's name is JO (a common Flemish name) JO, takaboom, JO, he married my siter Jo, takaboom boom, JO.
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTEEEEEEEEEE such bands.
By the way, if you watch a movie, the heroes hair will ALWAYS be perfect, surviving attacks, fights, water, fire. Also, what kind of bed cover do they use: probably shorter on the man's site, seeing his "hairy" chest, and longer at the woman's side, she has to be covered because in the SAME bed, you just see her head.
I'm glad, it fits well, the rap phrase.

A blonde was swerving all over the road and driving very badly, so she got pulled over by a cop.
The cop walked up to her window and asked, "Miss, why are you driving so recklessly?"
The blonde said, "I'm sorry sir, but wherever I go, there's always a tree in front of me and I can't seem to get away from it!"
The cop looked at her and said, "Lady, that's your air freshener!"

UYK, Rebel and Zurf, do you know what I wanted to become? My father was a MD like me, but died suddenly in 1974, proud because I studied the same.
If I should have a chance to start it all over, I should start studying to become a lawyer.
- I should go to music school, being 12 years, learning to read music, and as instrument guitar or piano.
- Once studying at the University, I should continue to improve my skills. After these studies, you have an option, and work 3 years with or for a lawyer, which allows you to defend people in court, or you start working a juridical adviser. Time to study=5 years (8, if you want to defend people in court). My 5 years are finished, my music skills are better by the day, and I can read and play the most complicated songs. I should go to the UK, to follow modern music, and once having my paper, going to the USA to obtain a bachelor or a master's degree.
I think that this combination has a lot to offer, like plagiarism, working in a major RECORD company, and able to play guitar, piano very good.
Problem: you are 18 when you start, and you will be 30 when you finish.

Re: little jokes (54 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
JESUS, I am surprised, reading the jokes you write. I never expected it, I wrote the Paris Hilton joke, because I had still too much fun.
George W Bush is visiting the UK. The second day, Her MAJESTY the queen and George W, are riding in London in a chariot pulled by 6 horses. Nature is doing her job, because one of the horses lift up his tail and a huge fart.
The Queen, very embarrassed, turns her head and says: I'm really sorry Mr President.
Bush, looks to the queen and answers, oh, I thought it was one of the horses.
This is a joke I know since years, because I heard the REAGAN answer. But this is and stays a great joke. SUBKECTIVE of course.
KEEP ON JOKING this time. It isn't about musicians, but they are welcome too.
Is there anyone who can explain, the strange world of jokes. If we are in company and I ask you, ZURF, to tell me a joke, it will be difficult. Once the first joke appears, it ends in a joke shower. Our "subconcience" stores everything, and using hypnosis, you can go back in time.

Re: where is the topic about critics? (7 replies, posted in Songwriting)
ROGER (BIG BRO) UYK and last but not least, here he is the famous last_rebel.
I wrote this, just because it sounded good. Well, I agree for 100%, that
- MY QUESTION IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO ANSWER.
- MY INTENTIONS ARE GOOD, BECAUSE, and this might be a MISUNDERSTANDING, I ASKED THIS TO IMPROVE MY ENGLISH, ESPECIALLY WHEN WRITTEN.
- IF I, OR ANOTHER CHORDIAN ASK TO CRITIC, ALWAYS CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICS, MY SONG, NOT ABOUT THE TUNE, BUT ABOUT THE LINES I WROTE, IF THEY ARE CORRECT, AND IF I MISSPELLED A WORD, OR THE WORD SEQUENCE IS WRONG, EVEN WHEN YOU TRY TO PLAY IT, AND YOU HAVE THE FEELING THAT YOU SHOULD USE ANOTHER CHORD, SOUNDING BETTER.
AND REBEL, EVERY SINGLE WORD IS CORRECT, as is ROG & KEN.
If someone tells me: this really sucks, and you ask why, they don't really know why.
Professional Critic writers are almost always those who failed to write songs. I was also a DOC in the biggest theatre in Belgium, and at least 5 times, they phoned me to come, why: TO PLAY THE DIRECTOR in scenes about "sickness", about "how to die as realistic as possible. ( the wedding reception was in that theatre, 100 years old, and one of the most beautiful early 1900 decor). It is also strange to be an artist doctor, they were my heroes, 10 years before.
There was one guy, a so called professional critic who HATED every play, written in papers (the best was that the only good critic was, the doc who directed the "die" scene, boys THAT was fun). They all called me. That guy well he had a face to hit real hard, and after one year, on the radio, newspapers, the result was that the worse the critic, the more people came to see this "play."
So even if I ask to correct me, you still don't like to do it? I can live with that, because you are telling the truth. Maybe the best solution is to do what you tell, I am aware that even when asked you and I are afraid to "hurt someone's feelings," while I asked to CORRECT words. It is maybe unusual to ask this, and I do hope that this answer is accepted.
all my love for all of you, and thanks for these "logical answer". It is difficult indeed, even when I ask to correct words, there is still the "maybe I hurt him" factor.

Topic: COMPLETE U-TURN: BIG BANDS you DON'T LIKE (16 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
This is a very unusual topic, since most of the topics are about who is the best band, the greatest band, fantastic songs.
So, why not about bands you don't like.
Go on, write down some names, let your heart speak, and spit it out right here.
Why do you love a band: because they are good, great music, in fact there is not really a specific reason.
Why you don't like a band: what I hate, you'll love.
BANDS I DON'T LIKE
- THE CURE: black, black and black, a vulture can easy put her eggs in his hair, and I have something "bad" with the name SMITH, because I don't like the following band:
- THE SMITHS: was this an important band? I heard them a few times, and the more I heard them, the worse I found them.
For me it is a very monotone style, similar to weeping.
What I do like is to see on a CURE concert 2000 Smith clones.
PAUL WELLER, he was probably lucky, I would never give him a contract. (= for myself too)

Re: The crapsong (3 replies, posted in Songwriting)
Is there a way to avoid these difficult chords? They fit good in this "song??", but please feel free to suggest other words, other sequences of words, even chords.
This really helps me, and it improves my writing.
Most of my songs, have some lyrics even writing lalala.
This is for me the place to be.
WHY THIS QUESTION: because I am
- a perfectionist
- a controle freak
- I want to be loved by everyone, which is impossible of course
- I am "greedy" to learn.
- I feel happy, and I love people
- I love life, day after day, even knowing that they took every physical thing I've got a second chance, I died, but they brought me back, twice.
- I know what it feels to die:
1) angry, mad and very aggressive feelings, followed by
2) the knowledge that you won't come back starts to calm you
3) a state of happiness, having the time to thank your beloved ones
4) BLACK, BLACK & BLACK

I love movies, having a giant surround system (a gift from me to me, when they told me to stop working because too disabled). There was a time, when you started as medical doctor, you could take over an existing office, with a lot of patients, allowing you to start immediately and having patients. If you are a pharmacist and you decide to stop, you get easy 700.000 to 750.000$, as a doctor now: NOTHING.
But this topic is about what I see on TV:
1) a scholarship for a university. WHO GETS A SCHOLARSHIP? and what about basket ball players, getting a scholarship for world famous Universities like Harvard?
2) MUSIC: is a musical education, like learning to read music, free, or do they teach you music on school, college, like they teach math? or English? or is it a choice?
I know that they have in Oxford (UK) a POP MUSIC university.

WHO MADE A PROFESSION OF HIS PASSION
Isn't this a dream? To see your deepest wish forfilled, passion -- hobby--profession, or semi profession.
My oldest sister has. She started very young, going to a school to learn "ballet". Unfortunately for her, there were my parents, having standards who were too high. She was ASKED to continue in the most prestigious ballet school in BELGIUM, when she was 14 years old, where the main activity was ballet, but they also followed regular classes. After these studies, she could continue studying and having a "diploma" to teach.
PROBLEM: Mam and Dad's answer was very clear, first getting your diploma (at school = 18 years), and we'll see when you finished school. Those were the days my friend, I hope they never end, but I am glad that most parents think different now.
Yes, they can PUSH their kid to become what they dreamed to be. My daughter was asked at 16, by a lot of agencies, prepared to invest in her to become a model (if you want to see a picture, no problem) but she refused. It was hard at first to hear her saying NEVER daddy, but I am a proud father to have a child making a decision, while hundreds of girls are dreaming of.
So (EXCEPT FOR SOUTHPAW (no offence, we are friends))
- is there a chordian, earning a lot of money, by performing and playing, solo or in a band?
- is there a chordian, able to live, playing his music?
- is there a chordian who is semi-professional, working and playing as hobby, earning $$$?
- is there a chordian, having a job, but playing in a weekend, or on weddings?
I love this question. I don't know if someone wants to tell how much he earns by playing and performing, or how much you ask to play, on MY wedding?
WHAT IS A REASONABLE PRICE IF THEY ASK YOU TO PERFORM IN A BAR? WHEN I WAS IN NASHVILLE, AT NOON, AND IN ALMOST EVERY BAR, SOMEBODY WAS PLAYING, COUNTRY AND WESTERN, OFTEN ALONE, sometimes with the help of a device, providing drums, bass.

Topic: where is the topic about critics? (7 replies, posted in Songwriting)
I thought I wrote a topic about the fact, that when I post a song, I would love to have critics.
Critics are VERY helpful in my opinion.
Maybe I am an exception to ask for comment, if the lyrics are bad, I would appreciate that someone tells me why, where I went wrong.
It's thanks to CONSTRUCTIVE critics that my job was a success.
I write NOT USING MY MOTHER TONGUE, but I try to find English phrases. About accents, no problem, I am really surprised how fast I learn other languages. I speak 5 languages too.
If 100 people play the chords written, by me or by others, only a few will play it close to your song.
No problem if you hear and know a tune, you can play it as written.
The intention of writing this was only to learn to improve some skills.
I don't know where my question is now? I was a little bit disappointed.
It was really simple: please help me, without reading a book first, because it isn't about the song, but about the lyrics.
Maybe I am a perfectionist, I always was, and I will always be.
I didn't write about other peoples lyrics, but about mine. If they are bad, I would like to know why.
This is for me the best way to learn writing phrases.
Spoken English, they asked me everytime when I was in the USA, from which state I was, just because I love English, and I can "mimic" every accent you want.
The result is now that, seeing that what I wrote has disappeared, I have problems to post a song.
I might be the only one here who asks to give me suggestions about lyrics, the ONLY reason is I WANT to learn, to see your opinion. I love you all "chordians" and is it too much to ask to correct me? It's about what I write, not about another chordian. I have chosen for this: and I was really happy to see a suggestion this morning about a word sequence, which is now corrected.
That's all I'm asking, and I don't mean to hurt people or their feelings. If I compare my written English today, and last year, there is an improvement, why thanks to you all. I even think in English = I don't write it in DUTCH and translate it, but I think, write and post stuff in English
