TF ( and anyone else)
What is your favorite song for flanger and Phase?
My must have Flanger song of the day, back b4 I knew what it even was or could be was "Rocket Ride" by Ace. and for a more modern application I like Zack Wilds  Crazy Horse. another song where the unit is being mercelessly flogged!   He just has that thing working its butt off! My FL-9 doesnt vary to much once I found that sound LOLOL (and I have discovered its a pretty coveted analog unit, used prices are way more than I got it for, usedlololol)
(there are so many great songs using the flanger im not going to try to name any more LOLOL)
For Phase:
I like the way way Trower uses it in Bridge of sighs and Zep on The rover and THE SEX PISTOLES with Anarchy in the UK.

There is one effect, and I sware I heard it on a Sabbath into that I can not put my finger on, I always thaought was a phase but its clearly not,  it may be something through a Moog synth set up. Ill come back later and add to the the edit if I find it.

I tried that staircase also, I can not seperate my fingers even on my electric at the 8th fret! I guess its time for the hard foam blocks to strech my fingers again!

Want to keep from getting bored?  Check out ROCKSMITH 2014.  you do need a game system. they have a PC version but I have not heard many great things about it due to latency and a few other things.

Chcek out the vids on youtube.  I cant wait to get something that helps me sound better and is fun at the same time.

My favorite guys on YT are Marty Schwartz and Brett "Pappastasch"   you can search for them.

There is a whole thread on this somewhere, but I cant locate it right now.

You will get all kinds of suggestions, so I will go first.

You playing at home not out so you realy dont need one of the acoustic amps unless that is what you feel like getting. they normally also have a XLR input for a Mic.

Not knowing you budget,  Will say why dont you grab a nice low priced Line6, or Berhinger, that comes preloaded with some nice effects. it will sound fine.  Why get an amp with effects you ask?  because when you can add some nice liquid chorus and a hint of delay and reverb to an acoustic it will really amaze you. (an hey if your feeling froggy, jump on the distortion setting, its very fun, just watch for feedback LOLOL) So on this line of thinking here are some possibel suggestions:
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Behringer-V … 1145403.gc
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Behringer-V … 2546685.gc  (a bit better and still a good price)
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Line-6-Spid … 1470458.gc  A very good amp also
http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i- … VYPYR-LIST (can be portable with batteries)
http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i- … RVIP1-LIST  (versital as needed, electric to acoustic to bass) bought one for a buddy of mine a few yrs back, great sound.

All the above links are great amps.  you just have to decide which is for you.  Best suggestion you will get on this site,, Take your guitar to teh store and start testing all the amps. see what you like.  smile

Hope this helped.

Im trying today to learn to sing better.   I know that when we as a group Skype and the assorted face to face gatherings, some of us sing (much) better than others.  I know we all sing with feeling,, but after 20 years of less accepting audiences (meaning other friends and the occasional new person) It has always bothered me to hear the comment “well you certainly have a lot of __(insert adjective)___ in that song.  There is no way at this point I can afford a vocal coach.  So I did what I should have done 5 yrs ago.  I went to YouTube and looked up vocal coach. I spent some time finding one that got right to it and made it fun. Wish I could afford a Skype lesson with him! So check out these if ya have some time.  I hope to be in better vocal shape as well as playing shape by Feb.
This guy rocks. He is a pro and I have felt a notable difference just doing this at work and hoping no one walk by and see/ hear me.

I didn't even know people ATE crappies!  We always throw them back, along with the Carp (yes, even the 12 pound carp although I hear some people eat those too).  Actually, I can honestly say the only local fish I've ever really enjoyed was a pan fried Perch.  We have bullheads and catfish pretty huge too, but they taste like mush to me.  tongue  Need a good southern cook around here I think.

I concider bull heads to be trash fish. fun to reel in, but toss back. channel cat taste like mud if not cleaned good. Farm raised Cat however (which is what you get in a restraunt) is pretty yummy as its given cornmeal and other healthy foods.

the oney you see people noodle for, seem just like an over large bull head to me and dont think I would eat them either.

Welcome Dave! you have found a great site, the talent here ranges from beginners to PROs like yourself.  hang out in the general chat take part in various topis and you will soon feel as if you know us all.I woul be interested to know more about your playing history and types of music.
Thanks for joining in to the best little guitar family you can hope to find!

BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK JEFF IS A ROUGE. MY SON HAS ONE AND THEY ARE GREAT AXES. OR XAVIER FROM GFS
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/rog … ass-guitar  (Basswood body) (I wish I had know about gfs when I got this for him)

Rouge is MFs house brand named after the rouge river where the plant is.  this guitar is solid and with a good set up he will be ready to go.  have you considered rocksmith 2014 for him? it teaches bass as well as guitar and will make it fun for him.
http://www.amazon.com/Rocksmith-2014-Xb … =rocksmith  just stay away from PC download I have not read any good reviews about it from prior version.
with either guitar and the money you want to spend you can get a killer bass amp with what you save, i know you wanted used,, but when you can buy new and not have to worry..... MF as we all know is a stand up company.. and GFS is great about customer service also! if you want t o skype ill let you hear the rouge.  ( you might even consider a BP 90  to go along with it, they are cheap and really do a lot for the bass to the amp) amp wise I would go with

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifie … -combo-amp or the afore mentioned one that is less powerful but bang for the buck is right here.

The GFS Xavier line which has me impressed as my sons acoustic is outstanding from them
http://www.guitarfetish.com/Xaviere-Bas … c_362.html     (average price 169 )  Adler body and great pickups,,,,,,and ill bet they play like a 400 dollar bass.

the peavy amp is still the best deal being a 12 inch speaker
happy hunting!
Honestly the range of styles from GFS is awesome and the Peavy amp is a solid product,,,, go man go! total b4 shipping

amp 249 (free shipping)GFS 169 (case for 54 bucks) +shipping (varies depending on where your at so maybe around 50 or so to fl)

418 before shipping or case or a strap still way below budget
(add a effects pedal with left over money)
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifie … ing-preamp
or  http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifie … -processor
or http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifie … ects-pedal

OK I am done telling how to spend more money LOLOL

Welcome Dean, you have found a great site and hope you stay around and join in to all the topics. you have found a great guitar family here.

Have googled it? or try calling a guitar shop. they have value books if they will tell you anything. you will need serial number though.

I forgot to mention that when I do use my woody humbucker, I also use a compressor / sustainer, as mentioned its a nice warm tone + it also acts as a pre-amp / boost.  I run that with any acoustic to amp set up.

NOthing will ever beat a great distortion, chorus, delay, flanger, and phaser! (as analog as you can keep it, though for $$ reasons, I love my multi effex station,, however my distortion flange and compressor are all analog smile

I have a black Duncan sound hole pick up and really like it, my sons guitar has the under bridge I am guessing since its a A/E.

I like both, although the EQ's Presence on the A/E does not seem to do much.

Some guys have all the luck,, glad it was you buddy~
