Brad Paisley has some amazing guitar work in his songs, but it generally isn't highlighted in solos.

Intro solo to Industrial Disease by Dire Straights, even though the feature is keyboards.  The guitar part is distinctive, simple, and builds up a little at a time just like the sneaking suspicion that the floor manager is coming to your station.

I have no clue what all that meant, but I am going to root for the Seahawks because I think birds of prey are cool, and anything that decides it ought to live at the beach is smart.

Makes me think that some younger musicians need to take up his cause and follow in his footsteps.

While I have great respect for the man because he was honest and sincere and lived in accordance with his principles, I do not think we need young artists to take up promotion of communism.

Good luck...

I'd empty cache, shut off your electronic firewall, then give another go from the adobe site.

Zurf you put up a hard fight but the booze and guitars won!!

It's difficult to argue with that logic.

OK.  You guys win.

I think we both know that there would be booze there, but possibly not guitars.

Life is much better right now.  I've got a space heater in my office and now I'm at least warm.

I'm afraid to take leave. The job market's so tough, I don't want anything to go wrong and me getting blamed while I'm not there. I hope Jim gets something soon.

Hey, it looks like a Mythbusters exhibit will be in Tampa during Chordiefest. Who wants to go?

LOL.  Right on Topdown!  Youngest is the age I was when I started.

Sonya's looking to return to the workforce.  Tough time to be looking.  Fortunately, my job has benefits and I can work from home most all the time, so all she needs to look at are wages, schedule, and commute.  Whoever hires her is going to get a terrific asset.  She'd be a fantastic employee for anyone but me.

1. My truck.  Over three grand.
2. My wife's van.  About a grand.
3. My eyes.  About four grand.  (only one that I actually planned for and had the money set aside and scheduled)

Now the furnace is bust with single digit temperatures at night and low double digits during the day.  I'm awfully glad we had a heat pump to handle the transition periods.  We had it reprogrammed to be primary heat source rather than just handling the transition periods.  It's not really warming the house so much as keeping it from getting colder, but that's enough to keep the pipes and children from freezing.  Sweater time.  Bust out the wallet time.

Edit to add: The pre-amp in Tiny is kaput.  That's another thing that needs to be repaired.  It's going to wait.

You can also go to the songs tab on Chordie and search on beginner. I do highly recommend checking out Justinguitar's approach for beginner. I also like yourguitarsage.com and the associated Youtube page. Good luck and have fun. Keep checking in on the Chordie forum. Don't worry about the sore fingers. It goes away...eventually. But totally worth it.

I tried to restore a bass that someone had tried to hot rod, but failed miserably at.  I got it back to original for all but the neck pickup.  For that I put in a MusicMan style pickup from Bartolini.

Been wanting a nylon strung guitar since I gave my classical to my sister. They do have a unique sound that I really appreciate.

I don't have any tattooes, but a member of Chordie who doesn't come around much any more offered to tattoo my avatar for me.  I considered it, but then remembered how much I hate needles.

If they are performing the cover songs for profit, they shoild be compensating the copyright owners. Some bars join an association that has negotiated an allocation approach in terms of compensation. In my case, if Gordon Lightfoot, Guy Clark, or James Taylor show up, I'll give them a fare share of my proceeds. That'll be a warm seat by the fire and a pretty view, but they'd be welcome to it.

I'll be doing one or two Dirty Ed songs at Chordiestock II. I'll pay you in Yeungling next rodeo.

I hate the flourescents.  Absolutely hate them.  We have been moving towards LED.  Most bulbs, both flourescent and LED, are rated for their color temperature.  Cooler temperatures are bluish, and warmer temperatures are orangish.  To me, the flourescents are green, and no matter what color temperature they are advertised to be on the box (warm, bright white, daylight, etc.), they still look green to me.

As a kayaker and almost a guitar player, I am reminded why I don't venture too far from shore when kayaking.

I wish I could write a song as poignant and absurd as DE's life stories.  One moment he's telling us about an alcohol fueled trip through class 92 whitewater that Evel Kneivel and Chris Blane took one look at and passed by, then the next it's something as heartwarming and touching as reflection upon the rewards of honoring the wishes of a grieving friend.  You're an odd duck Dirty Ed, and I say that with the utmost respect and affection for odd ducks.
