Thanks for the kind words Bill. I played it through and found exactly what you were referring to and made the change. Thank you MUSICATOR EXTRAORDINAIRE!!

Peatle- I feel honored that you took the time to play it on Piano.  If you record it, send it out - love to hear it.

and to all

I didn't right this to promote religion or anything , but only to write a song about how I feel.
Thanks for giving it a look see. smile

I've had this in my head for a while, a few lines here and there.
Really inspired by an old plaster  plaque I've had that was given to me by my mother. She said it was my father's favorite bible verse.
Phillipians 4:13  " I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
It has always been my mantra, I guess because my Dad was killed in an industrial accident when I was 6 Months old leaving my Mom with 10 kids. She always believed Jesus would get us through somehow.  I have always believed the same thing.

Anyway - here it is.

[song]
{t: Jesus Is My Hero}

[G] Born to a virgin mother, on a [C]late winter's [G]night
[G]The Shepard's  in the field they were [D]blinded by the light
and the [G] crowds they sang Hosanna, all [C]  glory to his [G]name
sal[C]vation through the [G] son of God as[D] all the angels [G]claimG]claim

Chorus
[C]Jesus is my hero,   my [G]courage and my love
When[D]ever I need guidance, I [C]pray to him [G]above
He[C] bears all of our sins like he[G]bore that thorny  crown
yea[D]Jesus is my hero,  he [C]never lets me [G]down

[G]Each day I read the Gospel, seems it [C]never grows too [G]old
[G]It has  the greatest message  that's [D]ever been  told
With [G]parables, great miracles, and [C] truth from the Holy [G]word
Oh [C]Glory to  the [G]savior, let the [D]Prince of peace be  [G]heard

[G] When the world gets crazy and [C]troubles never [G]cease
[G]Trust in the Lord to help you  [D] find your inner  peace
I can [G]do all things through Jesus , he [C]always leads the [G] way
Oh the[C]  Son of God, my [G] savior I’m so [D]  thankful  every  [G]day

Chorus
[C]Jesus is my hero,   my [G]courage and my love
When[D]ever I need guidance, I [C]pray to him [G]above
He[C] bears all of our sins like he[G]bore that thorny  crown
yea[D]Jesus is my hero,  he [C]never lets me [G]down
yea[D]Jesus is my hero,  he [C]never lets me [G]down
yea[D]Jesus is my hero,  he [C]never lets me [G]down

He is excellent-----   the muscle development and stretching to accomplish that must be incredible.

Nice Topic Bill

One of my favorites is    "Believe" by Brooks & Dunn
There are many....
The Band, “Christmas Must Be Tonight” (1977)
ZZ Top, “Jesus Just Left Chicago” (1973)
Norman Greenbaum, “Spirit In The Sky” (1969)
Violent Femmes, “Jesus Walking On The Water” (1984)
Kelley Stoltz, “If You Ever Thought Of Coming Back” (2006)
Tom Waits, “Jesus Gonna Be Here” (1992)
Bruce Springsteen, “Jesus Was An Only Son” (2005)
Jesus is a Soul Man,” Lawrence Reynolds (1969)
Are You Ready?” Pacific Gas and Electric (1970)
Put Your Hand in the Hand,” Ocean (1971)
Day by Day,” The Cast of Godspell (1972)
My Sweet Lord - George Harrison
Knockin' on Heavens Door - Dylan
Let It Be - Beatles ( McCartney)

and many more....

and I actually have a song that I started about a month ago - haven't put a lot of thought into it yet... but have most of the chorus done called Jesus Is My Hero
Maybe I will be inspired now to do something with it later today.

Thanks for getting the topic going BILL,  That's why I love to have you on here Man!!
Best wishes to you and Dondra in the New Year  that is now upon us.

Very nice idea.  Post a picture

Upstate NY, USA

It’s -11 outside

Tonight in NY City it will be coldest New Years Eve on record
They are telling people not to bring children due to hypothermia dangers.
As for myself, my wife and I are joining another couple for dinner and dancing at a nice hotel on Lake Otsego

Please take  the time to be thankful fo the good things we have and try to let the things that bother us take a break for a day if possible

We wish all Chordians a very Happy, Healthy, and Hopeful New Year.

I am thankful for and honored to be part of this very classy and wonderful group of ladies and gentlemen on chordie
HAPPY NEW YEAR !!❤️

Ok on soundcloud Bill gave me a compliment, and I took it as a challenge.
After I had basketball practice today with my team - I grabbed my guitar and wrote this.

Hope it works for you Bill - probably not what you had in mind ! smile
I couldn't make up my mind for a title - Bill - why don't you pick it out !

[song]
{t: Underneath Your Breath}
Or
{t: Me and my ‘ol dog}

[G]All those memories I've had with you at my side
All those [C]memories of you as my sweet, sweet  [G]bride
a [C] faded love story,  as our touches  turned so[G] cold
From the [D]moment   you cheated and [C]turned down that [G] road

[G]I'm sure that our friends will all want to know
they're [C]  sure to ask  why it is that you're  feeling [G]   low
and what's [C]  happened to the passion, who put out love's [G]flame
I'm sure they'll [D]  all want to know which [C]one of us to[G] blame

Chorus

[C]Well, you  mistook  paradise for a few moments  of [G] lust
And now you [C]ask me if I'm leaving, it seems that  I [G]must
and if [C]anybody ever wonders why I've gone  [G]missing
Just [D] tell' em  me and my ol' [C] dog have  gone   [G] fishing

[G]I considered staying, but that was just foolish pride
It would [C]be so different, as a broken heart is hard to [G]hide
I'd  try to [C] put a smile on, and let nothing be re[G]vealed
But then I [D] look into your eyes and [C]see  guilt  con[G]cealed

[G]Well I hope that  you're happy now , since  I've gone away
There really [C]wasn't any reason that could make me want to [G]stay
If we [C]ever meet again  by chance ,  before I meet my [G]death
I hope to [D] hear  you say you're[C] sorry, underneath your [G]breath

Chorus

[C]Well, you  mistook  paradise for a few moments  of [G] lust
And now you [C]ask me if I'm leaving, it seems that  I [G]must
and if [C]anybody ever wonders why I've gone  [G]missing
Just [D] tell' em,  me and my ol' [C] dog have  gone   [G] fishing
Just [D] tell' em,  me and my ol' [C] dog have  gone   [G] fishing
Just [D] tell' em,  me and my ol' [C] dog have  gone   [G] fishing

The Song you are referring to is " Old Fat Boat"  I believe... but it was not Eric Bogle that wrote it
it was Gordon Bok

Jethro Tull is pure genius !  His creativity and perspectives were incredible.
This is one of my favorites of him  - he just had so much fun performing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-hnVeq9FTg

That's the one thing I would wish for if I could, is the ability to perform ( sing and play ) ... it just looks like so much fun!!!

Ian was the master of so many instruments and had that unique voice - like the Ray Charles',  Johnny Cash's, Dylan's, Elvis,Rod Stewart's Janis Joplin etc... that the moment you hear three notes of it you know who the singer is because it's so idiosyncratic and awesome

and lastly -   I think our own Phill sounds almost exactly like Ian Anderson when he sings smile

Thanks for perking up my Wednesday TF !!!

Sorry I missed this yesterday - HAPPY BOXING DAY !!!

I made this recording this morning.
It's ok but if someone who can actually play and sing did it - I think it would be a pretty cool Christmas song.

Hope you like it.

Scott

That is exactly why I have never gone on FB - I have seen it mess up so many things, end friendships, end employment,  and ruin lives.....

FB is like a guillotine.... if it was used for slicing meat for sandwiches it would be great....

I am so glad you are still going to be on here.

Best wishes for the rest of the Holidays.
